Hey everyone! I got a lot of the inspiration from many decks but overall I feel that I did do my own take on these heroic decks. Let's start it off with a typical curve;
Turn 1: Land, Nivmagus Elemental
Turn 2: Land, Phalanx Leader
Turn 3: Land, Akroan Crusader, Battlefield Thaumaturge
Turn 4: Land, Launch the Fleet, Gridlock or Aurelia's Fury or Glimpse the Sun God *Optional Hidden Strings
With this you have a very easy Turn: 4 kill. But, this deck isn't for simple play. How is that a Turn: 4 kill you ask? Well to spell it out for you its working the stacks in a way that benefits you the most. Best thing is they can't counter the last piece of the play. Now that isn't to say that they can't counter the first pieces, but your Turn: 1 and Turn: 2 are the least likely to get countered on the play. With this it leaves your turn 3 to be the most vulnerable part. But, most people will see the Young Pyromancer and think that he is the most important part of the combo, which he isn't. The key here is the interaction with Heroic. It is very strong, but what is this interaction?
Nivmagus Elemental allows you to exile an instant or sorcery you control in order to add 2 counters onto him. (As a side note this makes instant Ordeal of Thassa ) Heroic procs whenever a creature, with heroic, is targeted with a spell.Using the stack to work in our favor we can put together multiple Heroic triggers and resolve the ones we want first then using another card to further trigger the other.Now this seems a bit complicated but lets use the above example of the curve.Nivmagus Elemental, Phalanx Leader , Akroan Crusader, Battlefield Thaumaturge, Hidden Strings, two one mana targeting spells meaning Launch the Fleet or Glimpse the Sun God or Gridlock.Lets start by using a Hidden Strings targeting a land and Akroan Crusader, since hes targeted his Heroic will trigger. This will refresh our land and giving us a token. Launch the Fleet will be the next move in this set targeting every creature you own. The board should look like this Nivmagus, Phalanx, Akroan, Battlefield and 2 soldiers with haste one with the Launch the Fleet effect and the other a normal soldier. Each of these will have a +1/+1 counter on them.Next, you declare attacks getting 5 tokens attacking with your army, you next use your Glidlock or anything that will accomplish the same thing and target your heroic creatures. Allowing their triggers to go on the stack. Resolve Akroan Crusader before Phalanx Leader so you can get a creature with a +1/+1, but otherwise it does not matter. With those resolved Nivmagus Elemental comes in and eats the spell giving him two +1/+1 counters.
TL:DR End Result: Nivmagus Elemental with 4 +1/+1 counters on him, Phalanx Leader with 2 +1/+1 counters, Akroan Crusader with 2 +1/+1 counters on him, Battlefield Thaumaturge with 2 +1/+1 counters on him, 2 Red Soldiers with haste with 2 +1/+1 counters and 5 more attacking White Soldiers each with a +1/+1 counter. Oh and a lonesome Red Soldier with a +1/+1That is 31 damage able to be thrown at their face, on turn 4, from what was 4 creatures which is now twelve on board 11 of which smacking their face. There's only more that this deck can do and it is quite overwhelming when you start to throw in cards like Polymorphous Rush and Twinflame. Kills just become quicker and quicker. I will explain more combos later if people like this deck enough.
With the new addition of Journey into Nyx we get the wonderous Battlefield Thaumaturge, this gives a new dimension to the deck giving us the ability to both have a great offensive strategy through being able to target all of your creature with Glimpse the Sun God for 1 or Aurelia's Fury for 2 or an amazing defense on their turn for the same result. If you are targeting your creatures don't fret because that is what Nivmagus Elemental is for. He goes along his merry way with the same objective as above and allows the Heroic Triggers to resolve, while waiting for his turn to go ahead and om-nom-nom on the spell before it has its turn to resolve. This is just a few new things that you can do with the deck with so much more to be reached.
If you would like more in depth combos please tell me in the comments below, this is a brew that i came up with after seeing an initial input from heroic. I'll be updating from time to time. Thank you for coming by and don't forget to get me some score :D.
