An idea for a hero's blade deck post magic origins.
The idea is to have cost effective/hasty/bomby creatures to stick Hero's Blade to.
Hero's Blade
+
Surrak, the Hunt Caller
is in particular really nice, play surrak, attach the blade, swing with a hasty 8/6 for 4.
Hero's Blade
+
Nissa, Vastwood Seer
the blade give protection to an otherwise vanilla creature. Plus her flipside creates 4/4 legendary creatures for you to attack hero's blade to.
Hero's Blade
+
Yasova Dragonclaw
makes Yasova a 7/4, every combat take a big threat and swing against them, she may be a cut though as she isn't all that great on her own and I can't be assured to always have a hero's blade in play.
Hero's Blade
+
Dragonlord Atarka
as much as hero's blade loves haste, it may love an 8/8 body turned 11/10 trampler more.
Hero's Blade
+
Zurgo Bellstriker
play him turn one, he's a 2/2 for 1, dash him out later with a hero's blade out, he's a 5/4 haster for 2.
Hero's Blade
+
Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh
again, it's protection to keep her around and deal more damage. I don't know if she'll fit nicely or not, but I like these flip walkers and think she could be cool.
Atarka's Command helps ramp and deal direct damage, or if need be, to help shut down any annoying lifegain decks.
Wild Slash and Lightning Strike are just obviously good adds if you have enough red sources of mana.
The newest addition to the deck is See the Unwritten. The deck seems a little vulnerable to removal, this solves that in the midrange/late-game. The only cards you don't want to hit off of one is Zurgo Bellstriker and Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh. Nissa, Vastwood Seer
gets you your land to flip her next turn. Dragonlord Atarka is self explananitory. Surrak, the Hunt Caller is just sexy when you get any other beefy card, and even not to shabby himself. Yasova Dragonclaw is a little weak, but still servicable, especially with a Hero's Blade to attach to her. Definitely comsidering running a three of for this card.
Crater's Claws may have a home here if I'm planning on being ferocious enough and have a crap ton of mana acceleration from Nissa, Vastwood Seer
and Atarka's Command.
Finally, I have been toying with the idea of adding black for Liliana, Heretical Healer
and removal after rotation occurs.
Overall, I think this could be fun, maybe even good. If you think there's a card I missed that is a must for the deck, I'd love to hear it. The one rule I have is that it must be from khans block forward, so as to prepare for rotation.
