Lurrus of the Dream-Den got the ban hammer so he can no longer hang with these hammers

Have you thought about running Urza's Saga ? It can help you fetch your hammer or your drum while also creating a body to attach your hammer to.

I have and it goes back and forth on my "mmm, but maybe?" list. It's pretty fantastic and would almost guarantee giving me that tasty artifact tutoring. Creature wise though, I need plains to cast. Only instances I cast with colorless are 7 artifacts, so I'm afraid of Urza's Saga being a dead card more often than not. I might get to use the second ability but that means my mana is tied up into that and not being used to cast the cards that are key to getting the hammers on the field and equipped fast. The tutoring is great but I'm having to wait three turns to get it going. I mean, if it hits right, it can be a banger. I may playtest around with a set and see.

A few -lands ( Isolated Chapel and/or Concealed Courtyard , etc.) would really compliment your pair of Cranial Plating s..

Or, if that's not your thing, 1-2x Idyllic Grange s could also be used to spice up the Manabase a little..

I like this build. Very focused and knows exactly what it wants to do. A suggestion, a minor one: I see Burrenton Forge-Tender in your sideboard. I’d replace it with Children of Korlis . It lacks the Protection from Red, but the upside gains you something the Forge-Tender can’t give you—and it isn’t limited to a single color either.

Metroid_Hybrid I was only afraid of those duals because I could picture myself getting them at a time they'd have to come in tapped and screwing up the speed haha. But I'll bet Concealed Courtyard wouldn't hurt my speed. Or I just spring for some shocks.

Balaam__ I like that suggestion! It may depend on how the meta looks around here should I get this deck together to compete with locally. The Burrenton was as much to protect against the aggro red and burn decks as much as the life gain.

Awesome deck! A pet favourite of mine is Quest for the Holy Relic , particularly when playing with 0 cost artifact creatures. It can pop off by turn 2-3 and also open the door to a Kaldra Compleat if you wanted. People rarely see it coming and it's harder to remove than a stoneforge. Glint Hawk is there as well given the speed.

foxinsox How has Quest for Holy Relic been for you in terms of speed? You said by turn 2-3 it can go off but how often? I really want to make sure this is optimized enough to not be totally overrun by the speedy aggro decks. It certainly is tempting with Kaldra, I'd love to get that sexy living weapon on the field. Glint is a good suggestion for some easy flying picks at life or getting cranial plating on, would just be dead with the hammer haha. Might be worth testing.

Flagstones of Trokair have no downside in this deck

sergiodelrio There is only one downside, but it can be a big one... Blood Moon . From what I've learned, Blood Moon is getting more popular with the recent bans and meta changes in modern. S'why I don't have any fetches for deck thinning either, Blood Moon shuts those down as effectively as it shuts down duals.
