Thelon? Who's that?

The main appeal of using Thelon for a fungus tribal is his ability to turn spore counters into +1/+1 counters (not really but if he's on the field they basically are). This makes fungi that add a spore counter to themselves basically pump at every one of your upkeeps. His two main side appeals are his low cost and his secondary ability. The low cost really helps keep him on the battlefield, and his secondary ability is a field pump.

Fungus Amongus

There are 27 fungi in the deck. Of those, 13 provide spore counters for themselves, so only about half of the fungi pump with Thelon. To help with those shortcomings, FUNgal Bloom can give any fungus a spore counter. The other half of the fungi are there to enable Thelon's second ability.

Fungi Never Die, They go in the ground and regroup

Stuff dies in EDH. Wrath effects and spot removal can easily hurt a deck. With the graveyard cards though, we always come out on top. Golgari germination and Thelon himself make the best of a situation, and Asceticism prevents the fungi that you would like to live, well, live. Gleancrawler can also help after we swing all out and lose some soldiers. Synergizes well with Phyrexian altar to generate mana to replay all of our funGUYS.

I have imPLANTED some backup plans in case our fungi can't have fun.

• Triskellion and Mikaeus combo. Remove counters, 2 to player, 1 at itself, undying.
• Devoted Druid and Quillspike. Make a giant flyer, GG
• Ant Queen, Token doubler, and Earthcraft. Many tokens.
• Mikaeus, Clique and Altar. Inf. Mana
• Tooth and Nail and 9 mana. 'Nuff Said
• Mindcrank's in there. I forget why.

Other Stuff

• Triskadekaphobia can pull a win out of nowhere.
• Planeswalkers are annoying, and these ones ramp or make tokens. Double the fun!
• Squirrel Nest because squirrels.

Final Notes

My playgroup detests decks that always win. As such, this list is toned down and far from being super competitive. There is hardly any removal, one "wipe" in Black Sun's, and the only tutor is Tooth and Nail. The only card advantage cards are Grim Backwoods and Ambition's Cost. The deck puts in really good performances in my group, and my playgroup generally knows and has hate cards against it.
