Hello everyone! The idea started from the card Hidden Strings, I thought it was so powerful, i had to do something with it. Unfortunatly, after several tries, i couldn't find the right equilibrium.
Thanks to Roguedeckbuilder.com he gave me the core of my deck. I made a lot of changes, that fit my playstyle, and also aim to improve the synergy of the deck.
Hidden Strings => Good with almost all my cards, Pain Seer,
Agent of the Fates
,
Artisan of Forms
,
Tormented Hero
. Special mention to Hidden Strings + Nivmagus Elemental, just broken.
Retraction Helix + Triton Tactics on... let's say...
Agent of the Fates
+
Tormented Hero
is just stupid.
Pain Seer is your only card advantage ability, so you need to protect him before playing him. Life loss with top curve at 3 has never been a problem.
Mogis's Marauder is basically your kill, the moment you play him/them often define if you're gonna win or lose.
Xathrid Necromancer is your anti wrath / control / removal card, 2 in the side because 4 in main seems too heavy.
Mizzium Skin is your protection, 2 in the side against control / boros / devo black.
Thoughtseize is much needed, especially against devo black / control / naya (take Unflinching Courage you win) against who i bring in Duress as well.
Overall it's one of the funniest decks i played with, have to think a lot, when to play your creatures, which trick to play etc... what can be the best combo... it's kind of hard at the beginning but you get used to.
Matchups :
Devo black : pretty tought, Mogis's Marauder is a body, main deck is gonna be hard because of the heavy number of removals. Normaly you can handle his board, so it's a war of attrition. Most of my defeats against devo black were because of Underworld Connections
Control : Main deck is tought, with only 2 Xathrid Necromancer. Play your hand with parcimony, chose the right time for the final blow. If you start top decking you lose. Try to keep a Mogis's Marauder for Elspeth, Sun Champion , very efficient. Board in Disperse / Negate / Duress / Mizzium Skin / Xathrid Necromancer /
Duskmantle Seer
Monoblue : Tought matchup, doesn't get better with the side. Depends a lot of how many
Agent of the Fates
you can draw. Let's say it like this. If you have a
Agent of the Fates
+
Tormented Hero
/ Pain Seer in play against week board you won. Monoblue takes a lot of work...
Boros : It's a race ! don't hesitate to retractation helix/far/away your own creatures, the number of cards in your hands will most likely decide who wins. Board in counters, Mizzium Skin, Whip of Erebos. You can try to board in disruption, but i would advise against it. ususally i just take off Pain Seer + Thoughtseize.
Naya : hexproof doesn't protect you against sac effects, helix permits you to bounce enchants in clutch moments. Should be a walk in the park.
Mid range / jund / bant / dredge : This deck literally destroys any mid range deck. Mogis's Marauder is the perfect weapon against planeswalkers. You can bounce all day long Stormbreath Dragon, polukranos and the likes... this kind of deck is your easiest matchup because they're slow, not very focused.
Here it is, hope explanations were ok. English is not my native language but well... To finish, this deck made really good results in fnm, it's fun to play, and it drives your opponents crazy.
