Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm drawing WAY too many lands for a legacy burn. I know its already 21, but you may wanna use 19 or 20 and use for draw-discard cards insteadn

Perhaps. Shall I add another Lava Spike? I don't want to be too low on lands on the offchance that I don't have Hidetsugu or Ruby Medallion with a Fire Servant and have not enough lands, I think 20 should be ok. Thanks!

I'd suggest you add some way to make white mana, cause as of now Nevinyrral's Disk is the only way you can get rid of a Leyline of Sanctity.

Bloodspawn, yeah I had thought about Leyline of Sancticity being a problem... I know what my sideboard could potentially be now! I might want to splash white or green because of Naturalize or with white, I could get Oblivion Ring. Which do you suggest? Thanks for the idea!

NP M8! Since you have most of your spells at CMC 1 that's likely where an opponent would put a Chalice of the Void. So you can go either green or white, Disenchant or Naturalize doesn't really matter, only thing is thatNaturalize is more budget friendly and the cheaper white version, Revoke Existence is sorcery speed. Had you had most spells around CMC 2 I would have recommended putting both Shatter and Erase in the sideboard instead.

If you want a budget way to splash easy you could try replacing 5 mountains with 4x Evolving Wilds and a single forest. It slows you a little but you get no mana that can only be used for the colorless parts of your spells and significantly decrease the risk of topdecking basic lands.

Also, a more expensive card that's a bomb in every mono-red deck that you've probably heard of is Blood Moon.

Bloodspawn, I personally think in this deck that Blood Moon is a bit of a waste of a turn 3, and would kill the budget (just a bit). I will probably go with Naturalize because I already have a few of them. Btw I don't think the 8 cent difference will hurt my budget too much between Disenchant and Naturalize. Once again thanks for your help! Now it is just a matter of figuring out how many forests/mountains I want now (I may need to cut a few cards) and if I want any Evolving Wilds or Red/Green land cards.

For a sideboard card, Vexing Shusher is a good way to get through your spells, whether it's because your opponent has the Counterbalance + Sensei's Divining Top lock on you, because your playing against Chalice of the Voids, or just because your opponent has lots of counter magic. I would suggest it. Also, if you're planning splashing green I would suggest Krosan Grip over Naturalize or Disenchant. It may be a little more expensive, but it is uncounterable. You can't argue with that. It's not worth getting blown out when your opponent Force of Wills your only enchantment removal. Obviously, if you were to use Vexing Shusher and have him on the field already, then this wouldn't matter anyway. But I would still use both.

ClassyShinobi thanks for those great ideas! I hadn't thought of Krosan Grip but it would be valuable when playing blue controls (or in general). I will add it into the sideboard. Vexing Shusher is an especially wonderful card, but it would kill the budget, which I am trying to keep below 50$, but hopefully under 40$. Once again thanks for the tips!

If you want an alternative to Vexing Shusher, how about Autumn's Veil?

Awesome idea Bloodspawn thanks! Yeah with the budget I have set I can't afford to use some of the cards I would like for this deck such as Vexing Devil or Monastery Swiftspear or Blood Moon, as you said earlier. Autumn's Veil is a good card, I will definitely put it in the maybeboard and give it further thought for my sideboard. Thanks

Why not run 4 grenades and remove the spike? Ul always have a goblin with 6 spells that create multiple goblins, also no Reforge the Soul or Thunderous Wrath? U only have 1 draw spell so unless a miracle ends up in your opening hand its a huge plus. Its worth running a couple of 1 or the other b.c they win games and u only have to win 66% of the time to win a tourney and theyre amazing 90% of the time. Otherwise thumbs up its nifty.

Thanks Metamorphic1992 for the input. I'm not running 4 grenades because I often don't want 2 of them in my hand at once because I like having spare goblins to block some aggro creatures. Reforge the Soul I think has a too high CMC for my deck, Fire Servant is the only 5 mana card I am probably willing to run here. I had thought of running Thunderous Wrath before and I simply don't know if it will be the right card for my deck. I can see it working well but I can also see it working terribly. I think I will playtest this deck by dropping an Arc Lightning and Lava Spike and adding in two Thunderous Wraths.

Bovine073 says... #14

With the Thunderous Wraths being played with Faithless Looting could be tricky but I think the fact that if I draw a Thunderous Wrath, I can easily just discard it then and there and no one the merrier so I am having better thoughts about it now. Once again, thanks Metamorphic1992!

August 23, 2015 6:03 a.m.

Reforge the Soul is also a miracle it costs 2 if u top it. I prefer wrath b.c its faster and cost 1 less but refilling ur hand can turn a loss into a win instead of just having wrath as a finisher. Both r handy and very powerful. I recommend at least 2x of either (but not both) in the deck. Im glad ur seeing the benefits of wrath its excellent! Good luck man and np! 2 total miracles is all a red deck needs to be efficient. :)

One carddraw-card that i have used in my discard-deck with great results is Browbeat, and that seems like an even better fit for this deck than mine. It has to be at least 3 slots though as it usually wont draw any cards the first time you play it.

August 24, 2015 2:18 a.m.

Bovine073 says... #17

Bloodspawn Yeah, I had thought of Browbeat but I think it is just a tad bit risky because its (the first time, as you say) going to be a 3-drop for 5 damage. Also, this card would kill some of the multiplayer value I have in this deck going. Unfortunately, you can't really playtest this card effectively so I'm still skeptical.

Bloodspawn says... #18

Kk, If youndo find a carddrawer that works please let me know though. Ive been trying to find a fit for Voice of the Gargoyle for long. Recentlt switched back to browbeat from Sign in blood because the lifeloss was too much to handle.

Metamorphic1992 I read the rules for Miracle costs and you have to play it IMMEDIATELY if you want the Miracle cost so that makes Reforge the Soul more nerfed than before so I'm leaning even more towards Thunderous Wrath now.

August 24, 2015 2:15 p.m.

Ive always leaned toward Thunderous Wrath. I used miracles in standard and regardless of when you must cast them to get the reduced cost it was worth it 95% of the time, hopefully that translates to modern. I loved topping Bonfire of the Damned but Thunderous Wrath is better suited for the format.

And legacy of course lol

Maybe Devil's Play over Crater's Claws? Seeing as though your only creature that triggers ferocious is 5 mana, it may end up being too slow. Also, Devil's Play will end up being an early shock effect to something when you want, and a late game mana sink that can possibly serve as a finisher.

August 24, 2015 7:29 p.m.

Bovine073 says... #23

That is a great idea I don't know why I hadn't thought of it before (I had seen the card, just was dumb enough to dismiss it). Thank you a whole bunch ClassyShinobi!

Glad I could help :)

This deck inspired me to build a version of red deck wins myself that uses Hidetsugu's Second Rite and Fire Servant. It's quite different but it's cool, (not literally) if u want to check it out!http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/red-burn-combo-ftw/
