The main idea of the deck is to always be sacrificing creatures: it is how you destroy enemy creatures, it's how you control your opponent's hand, it's how you get the creatuers you want back on the field.

To that end, we have lots of things that we can sac without really losing them; persist and undying make sure creatures come back, things that give creatures +1/+1 make sure persist is spammable, and things like Champion of Stray Souls makes sure everyone pulls more than double-duty.

Most of the cool combo pieces come through morbid cards: since our goal is to always have things dying, Deathreap Ritual should be drawing cards every turn, Reaper from the Abyss is a targeted kill every turn, Skirsdag High Priest is a 5/5 flyer every turn...

The enchantments are the main staples of the deck. Attrition and Dictate of Erebos make sure we don't need Savra out (but do combo with her nicely for massive chains of sacrifice), Mind Slash makes sure we have perfect hand control, Perilous Forays makes sure we have more land than we could ever need, and Awakening Zone and Golgari Germination make sure we have plenty of tokens if creatures are coming slow // running low.

Since this is EDH I want to avoid having "key combos" but some fun ones are Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord + Phytotitan , Champion of Stray Souls + Gleancrawler , having both a Nim Deathmantle and Deathrender out to make a creature summoning engine, and lots of other little pairings like that. Ideally the deck is robust enough that any set of cards ends up with a solid synergy.

I am always open to suggestions about cool things that would work well in this deck, subject to the knowledge that this is a budget deck and if there's a very obvious card like Grave Pact missing, it's because I am trying to keep the deck price under $40.
