Maybeboard

This deck started many years ago as a group hug build for Phelddagrif. As my play group pushed their decks towards competitive play I was left doubling their mana, giving them free card draw, and sometimes even free creatures. It was great fun for awhile but with a few tier 1-1.5 decks in my pod, I have now decided I would stop helping them and start making games a little longer and not as streamlined.

This deck is a WIP, fringe competitive, stax deck that focuses on locking down the board/getting ahead early and then finishing our opponents off with Eldrazi Conscription on a (hopefully indestructible) infect creature, or with a Leveller Thassa's Oracle combo.

The goal of this deck is to hang with cEDH decks, disrupting their plays, and sometimes swinging in/combo-ing off for the win. This is no where near the most efficient configuration of this deck and I hope to keep it that way for now. If this deck was to truly become efficient it would need a functional commander as the hippo is more for show ;)

I would like to get this deck to a point where you can have multiple configurations, some being more competitive than others. As it stands I am open to all suggestions and feedback. I look forward to seeing where this deck can go!

Magus of the Disk

Voidslime

In:

Land Tax

Mental Misstep

Mystic Sanctuary

Regrowth

Spellseeker

Wrath of God

Eternal Witness was too expensive and felt like a waste of a tutor, Regrowth makes more sense as Isochron Scepter is already in the deck and it's cheaper.

Magus of the Disk was also too slow and even though it's fun to blow everything up while you have Avacyn, Angel of Hope it's not reliable and is easily telegraphed. Wrath of God is a cheaper, quicker, and an easier-to-tutor for board wipe. Also it synergizes more with Vedalken Orrery as you can wrath at instant speed.

Added Spellseeker as it makes the deck more consistent and gives us more ways to get our combo pieces, it's also an additional tutor which can get Silence to shut down your opponents while still keeping a backup for combo pieces.

Added Land Tax to test as catchup + good synergy with Armageddon, if our lands aren't indestructible. It is also easily tutored for and may allow this deck to function with a streamlined mana base without the need for fetches.

Added Mystic Sanctuary as recursion for combo pieces, it also goes very well with Intuition which may be added down the road.

Removed Voidslime as Disallow is functionally the same and less restrictive. Replaced slime wih Mental Misstep as it's much less restrictive and allows us to hopefully shutdown other decks combos, or deal with their missteps.

Removed 3x Forest as Regrowth is 1 less pip than E Wit, same with Mental Misstep replacing Voidslime. The deck does not need as many green sources in current config.
