This is a little silly project where I play one card from every year that Magic: the Gathering exists. I picked cards that have some personal importance to me. Wether I liked the artwork, played the card a lot or whatever reason. Every card in this deck means something to me. Some years have a lot of cards I would like to play (Looking at you, 2003!), in such a case I picked the card that would fit best in the grindy, controlling playstyle I aim for in this deck.

Card choices

Balance - The first year of Magic had a lot of other cards I would like to play such as Swords to Plowshares or Disenchant. But they have a quite generic effect. Balance on the other hand has a quite unique effect and goes well with another card in the list.
Land Tax - Such an iconic card, has great syngergy with some other cards on this list.
Zuran Orb - Filty in combination with Balance. I can sacrifice a bunch of lands to screw my opponents (and get them back with another card on this list!)
- Kjeldoran Outpost - I loved this card as a kid. It's effect and it's art made it one of my all time favorite cards ever. It also really fits in this deck, it's a slow wincondition.
- Scroll Rack - Very good in combination with Land Tax.
- Planar Birth - Very good with a lot of cards in this deck such as Balance and Zuran Orb
- This was a fine year, the year The Matrix released. Also the year Masticore was printed. It was a bit before my time, but I heard the stories of this beast. I always have looked in awe at this legendary good boy. Still a very potent card on the kitchen table.
- Kor Haven: A very good card that fits the defensive / control nature of this deck. Very iconic card too.
- Orim's Chant: This iconic card still gives me nightmares.
- Weathered Wayfarer: I play a lot of good lands that I want to find as soon as possible, this fellow helps me with it.
- This is a very hard nut to crack since it's the year I started playing. A lot of fond memories of Legions, Scourge and Mirrodin. Decree of Justice is the card I finally picked, it fits the gameplan the most.
- Another hard nut to crack. Since I have room foor 36 cards, and Magic only is 31 years old, I can add some extra cards. That's why I added both Ghostly Prison and Crucible of Worlds. 2005 - Pithing Needle: A very useful cards that shuts down a wide range of threats. Also tutorable with a card later on this list.
- Flagstones of Trokair: I love this card! It makes symmetrical effects like Balance asymmetrical and fetches one special land you'll find later on this list.
- Mana Tithe: I freaking love this card! It's perfect for this deck.
- This deck is quite grindy, it's based on the Deck Parfait style of decks. So I might need a way to put cards from my graveyard back into my library in order to avoid decking myself. Mistveil Plains does just that. It's also fetchable with both Flagstones of Trokair and Weathered Wayfarer.
- Path to Exile: Next to Swords to Plowsharesfoil the best creature removal in the game. But since I had to pick Balance from 1993, I'm glad I can pick this card in 2009.
- Stoneforge Mystic: Such a strong and iconic card that has ruled over magic for years. Not as good as it used to be, but a force to recon with in this deck where it pairs with it's iconic counterpart..
- Batterskull: Name a more iconic pair then Stoneforge and Batterskull, I'll wait..
- Terminus: A very strong boardwipe that pairs nice with Scroll Rack.
- Elspeth, Sun's Champion: big Elspeth, my favorite Elspeth.
- TBD
- Monastery Mentor: Since I play quite a lot non-creature spells, this card shines in this deck. It's also a very iconic card that I just had to include. 2016 - Angel of Invention: Put some meat on the field and buffs the tokens I already made.
- Walking Ballistafoil: A very important card from 2017 which combo's with a later card..
- Retrofitter Foundry: An army in a can! I love this card and it really fits the grindy, tokenbased wincondition of the deck. It's also fetachble with a later card.
- Castle Ardenvale: Great fit for this deck.
