Not with this exact set-up, no. However, the set up I had been running wasnt as mean as this is. With the old set up (mono-blue) I worked over a pretty blitzy R/G aggro and went 2-0 against a pretty good BANT hexproof. With the blitz decks it is challenging for sure, but with the sideboard and the silences for early game tempo changes I think blitz decks will the the lower on the threat board than some of the aristocrat decks floating around.

have you considered Elite Arcanist ?basically lets you cast silence or cyclonic rift each turn.

Yeah I have looked at the Elite Arcanist s and they are super tempting, and could really combo great, but Im hesitant using them because with alot of it i would be relying on a creature to hold onto a card for me basically. The argument is there for sure, but idk. . . It already killed me to wittle it down to 61 cards lol

im sure haha.the only problem i have with Elite Arcanist is that its a very fragile creature, and its very nature sets you up for a two-for-one, leaving you with an exiled card and a dead arcanist. the same can be said for Bane Alley Broker .

you seem pretty good at building control.consider giving my Americans are Superfriendly deck a look

I would consider Jace, Memory Adept over Jace, Architect of Thought . It's a 5 drop which you have none of and it gets you some card draw plus milling a card. Not to mention it's an alternate win condition with his 0 ability.

yeah, Thats a good point, I have nothing in my 5 spot. I do have a couple of Jace, Memory Adept s laying around. Ill swap them in and see how it affects the game play. Thanks!

Yeah I saw her, and I really like her. . . Just that rotation kills it for me. I think when I get around to putting together a competitive Modern U/W she could fit nicely.

ive got one, and she has to be my favorite planeswalker ever.

Elite Arcanist is a card I really like.. great for control in my opinion. Could be great with Silence , or really any other instant. I think I used it with doom blade once, but that wouldn't really work with your deck.

yeah i like him a lot, i think once i get the cards in and get to play test it live against people with some pretty strong decks i'll be able to see if he gets switched in.

i would agree 100%, but Counterspell isnt standard or even modern legal.

Why the Mutavault ? I agree it's an awesome card, but it's potential seems wasted in this deck.
Elite Arcanist is awesome, and Gideon, Champion of Justice is a good win-con.
Also, please check out my Shush now, shows my take on the same deck type.

I think Mutavault works really well in control decks. It only becomes a creature when you want it to be so it can avoid sweepers and it can be used for some utility.

man lands like Mutavault are used heavily in your competitive modern/ legacy decks and if you're going for a turn total board control Mutavault is a good enough win con. I actually saw a deck where it was the ONLY win con lol. it looked mean.

This looks really nice. I've been working on something similar, but with more enchants (poor man's version of blue white control!). I had not thought about Volatile Rig , that works really well here I think. I reckon if you can get to turn 4 you'll have people flipping tables by turn 7 every time. And the good news, if somebody burns you by turn 4 then you did not lose much time, and can get back to frustrating somebody else! Good luck.

Thank you, I really like Haunted Plate Mail BUT I think Volatile Rig adds a better board presence and can get people to think I won't board wipe my own guy. . . but i totally will and pop them with Mutavault for good measure lol

Try moving the proportion of land towards Plains a bit, maybe?

The Gods are all indestructible...Where's your Detention Sphere ;) Also, Celestial Flare is amazing, better then Devour Flesh , doesn't give them life, and OWNS hexproof as they only attack with 1 creature most of the time. Should have 2-3 in the SB.

Wow I'm blind LOL..missed those spheres apparently!! but flare for the sideboard is a must! Pithing Needle against opposing AEtherling is also a good idea.

looks great, i was thinking about doing something like this too.have you played this deck against the blitz-y aggro decks?how well do you do against those?
