MrDimir you can sacrifice Dryad Arbor to Sylvan Safekeeper, then recur the Arbor with Meren :) also this is not the type of deck that wants ritual effects really; that is more appropriate in all in combo like Varolz Hulk.
MagicMasterJr basically what Frostman1255 said. On top of what was mentioned, we can't run any of the Hulk hate (Grafdigger's Cage, Cursed Totem, etc) because it hits us too, and on top of that, we get hit by the Hulk hate that more people are starting to play because of the new metagame.

Regarding Plunge Into Darkness, how do you know how much life to pay? Wouldn’t it be inconsistent because your pile piece(s) could be exiled?

Ah. That makes sense. I’m the only hulk combo player at our meta but it has shifted to more blue combo, Azami draw.dec and Jihoria Cheerios draw.dec. Have been eye balling a few cards but none have done well in testing. The deck just folds to fast combo.
January 25, 2020 11:15 p.m.
Jebdioah in the early game I'm usually paying 5-10 life. If you hit a piece obviously you need to grab it, which is why I usually pay on the low end of 5-7 life.
MagicMasterJr I wouldn't say the deck folds to fast combo, it's just that if your pod is full of Fish Hulk players (which most true CEDH pods are), Meren can't keep up. if you want to stop Jhoira you can just run Damping Sphere and Null Rod. Azami shouldn't be a problem with the large amount of creature removal in the deck. If you're not aware of the problems with the cEDH meta right now, have a read at this: https://sites.google.com/view/themanaweb/why-this-is-different

pao2 if anyone were to build fish hulk I’d be closest one to having a viable build. We have only recently begun to play cEDH given our prize pool has increased to complete boxes of product rather than a few packs.
As far as Dampening Sphere and Null Rod, I do have them but rarely get them and feel bad for searching for them rather than attempting a combo.

pao2ahh c'mon that's not the spirit, flash is probably gonna get banned anyway.
January 28, 2020 5:33 p.m.
darth87 pretty bad unless your meta is all Godo/Tymna. attacking doesn't really happen in cEDH outside of those two, and it's not worth running spore frog to maybe deny a tymna draw every now and then.

pao2 Great work on the deck! I love it, I used to play the old Honorbru version, but I soon felt that the stax heavy build was too slow and not as entertaining to play unlike this list.
In terms of ways with dealing with Flash Hulk, I do not see other options than discard and Plague Engineer. How do you think that Plague Engineer fits into the deck? Sadly, it does not deal with the Spellseeker line, howeover it provides utility similar to Minister of Pain.
Plague Engineer can kill either Cephalid Illusionist or Nomads en-Kor. The card can also be used against most mana dorks if named elves. What do you think of this card as a possible inclusion?
The other options would be Duress , Thoughtseize or Praetor's Grasp. I am not sure that these options are as good as Plague Engineer, given that it strays away from the creature fokus of the deck. But I think I will test them out myself. How you considered som of these cards in the list given the current meta?
On a side note, spore frog can also be useful against Najeela.

I tried to quickly look into creatures that give similar effects to duress/thoughtseize. All i could find is Entomber Exarch, but the mana cost is quite high and probably not usable.

what direction could this deck go in case of the possible reban of protean hulk?

THEDARKMASTER000 Depending on how that absolutely scews the meta it would most likely either go all in on razaketh or shift into a full stax/value reanimator. Still likey with the end goal of squirrel craft being the wincon
February 20, 2020 6:26 a.m.
THEDARKMASTER000 the deck is just dead if hulk ever gets banned. i'd probably switch to hapatra if that happened.

I don't know if I'm dumb or if the primer is wrong, but the Eternal Witness Raz line seems to require >18 life, not >16. You get all the way to the point where hulk is on the field, but you can't sac it to Raz without dying.
February 24, 2020 12:35 a.m.
That-Scarab-God-Kid Sorry for the late reply! The Ewit line works if your last reanimation spell is Footsteps or Necromancy. Otherwise you need 2 more life. I've updated that section for clarity, thanks.

XinZhao I run devoted druid in my Meren deck. Might not be the most “optimal” mana dork because she’s a 2-drop, but I think she puts in work-especially if Melira is in the deck.
March 4, 2020 7:58 p.m.
XinZhao MrDimir if you have Melira out, you CANNOT untap Devoted Druid at ALL. That is a nonbo to the highest degree.

pao2 what're your thoughts on Living Plane? I know you already run Life / Death, but I've seen Living Plane do some dirty work in my pod with Minister of Pain, just bopping everyone else's lands.

Immortalatom a 4 cmc card that doesn't really do anything without another card is hard to justify. Especially given it also opens our opponents the opportunity to also wipe out lands with a fire convenient or any if the other fairly common dork sweepers.

MagicMasterJr The deck is dead for anyone playing in true cedh pods vs the new sushi hulk lines. Meren just can5 combo as fast. Its even arguable that the stax pieces we run can help the flash players because it makes it harder for the whole table to hold up mana to counter flash.
