Wow.

I've only taken a cursory look at this, I need to playtest it before I give you specific feedback, but this is an EXTREMELY solid looking deck.

You have ticked all the right boxes by including just about all the cards I would recommend for this type of build.

This is better than a lot of decks on here that are built by people who have been brewing for a while.

If you keep making decks this good you will turn into one of the better brewers on this site.

A bit of early advice - learn how to playtest your decks. That is the best way to improve them.

I fixed the picture for Trueheart Duelist.

To use it as a Token just bring it back from the Graveyard, then move it into Exile if it dies.

This has problems with Dinos, even after Sideboarding.

Playtest deck: Stompy Whompy Dinos

Here is a playtest deck for Merfolk: Rivals of Ixalan Merfolk by Corbin Hosler

skulstads playtesting is where you test your deck against another one, to see how it goes.

You can do this in one of three ways:

  • Find a program where you are playing against another person. MTGO (Magic the Gathering Online) lets you do this, for a fee. You can Google for free programs.

  • Have a friend play one of their decks against you, either with actual cards, or with you both using TappedOut decks on some sort of screen.

  • Open up your deck, and another deck on TappedOut, and play them against each other. This is my preferred way of doing things as it lets me choose the best deck to test against, and it lets you play two decks without mistakes diluting the results. I play as though I don't know what the other deck has in hand. Be aware though, that you can sometimes have a natural tendency to favour your deck. This is ONLY a good test to see whether or not your deck will work, NOT a good test of which deck is better. The other reason I like this style of playtesting is that it lets you learn the best plays to make against Opponent decks, and which cards they will probably play.

You really only need Evolving Wilds in three colour decks.

They are slowing this deck down too much, so I would remove them for three Unclaimed Territory, and one Plains.

Please link cards. It makes it easier to know what you are talking about.

Hardy Veteran is really only good in Limited play. I would put Solemn Recruit back in.

The Immortal Sun is not proving to work very well. I would replace it with Angel of Sanctions or Angel of Condemnation.

I would remove both Planeswalkers and Slaughter the Strong for Ixalan's Binding.

I would try this with your Sideboard:

-2x Oketra's Monument
-1x Restoration Specialist
-3x Trueheart Duelist

+3x Cast Out
+2x Fumigate
+1x Heroic Intervention

The other change I would think about is this:

-1x Angel of Invention
-1x Devoted Crop-Mate
-1x Verdant Rebirth

+3x Shapers' Sanctuary

This is playing much stronger now.

I see why you might prefer another Human to Solemn Recruit.

I think Sunscourge Champion might be the way to go.

Your Enchantment will probably put enough cards in your hand that discarding one won't be such a big deal, and something coming back from the Graveyard, especially as a 4/4 on Turn 4, is just bloody annoying.

Authority of the Consuls used to be a really important card back when Felidar Guardian + Saheeli Rai were a threat, but these days it's relegated to either one or two in the Sideboard.

It really tends to just delay the inevitable, rather than win you games, in my opinion.

Well I don't know where you got that impression.

I just try to help as many people as I can, because they help me.

As a result I end up looking at waaaaay too many cards, and decks.

You're not a "peasant". We are all equal. You just don't have as much knowledge of the archetypes, and meta, probably. You will pick it all up.

I like your deck building at this stage. No one is playing Humans, but you have shown me that they are very playable, in these colours.

If you click on my name it will take you to my Profile.

I've got a list of interesting decks there.

I've got no idea if anybody ever bothers to check them out, but they might notice them if they come to ask me for help.

Cool deck! We are all peasants compared to Argy lol.

Argy is a women so you may want to change your deck description to a gender neutral pronoun or her. You can delete this comment then if you want. Just wanted to give u a heads up.

Oh i wasn't aware. As you can see i am not familir with this community or it's users. If i had known or at any point thought it would be relevant to the process i would have used the correct pronoun. However i did not at any point really think to my self is this man or woman, i simply appreciated the help i was recieving. The choice of wording is purely by unconscious default as i am male. Either way i will edit my posts, thank you for enlightening me.

February 28, 2018 8:07 p.m.

Yep I totally get it. I tend to assume people are male because I am. The reason I mentioned it was because the third thing in argys bio (or whatever its called) is regarding the topic of women in the magic community. No reasonable person expects you to read their whole bio before responding to them. I happened to read hers so just wanted to pass on the info.
