Rant Thanks for the idea. I haven't built mardu yet, but that could be something interesting.

A Queen Marchesa build would be suiting. She does represent envy, vanity, greed, and lust.

Most of the proposed categories are simply essential to any good deck. As long as this theme does not force you to play cards that do not fit with the rest of the deck I say flavor the hell out of the deck :-)

You know, at first i looked at Rakdos and thought, wouldn't Rakdos Lord of Riots work better? Then i saw the premise and i admire what the deck is trying to accomplish. You really did a good job with the deck. Most other deck builds on this website have a very high land cost base as well, something you left out and managed to do well with seeing that the lands aren't over 100$. Most of the cards in the deck were already in my collection so this wasn't hard to get together and start playing at my LGS. Good job and keep up the good work!

hamburgerwithoutcheese - First off thanks for the compliment!
Secondly, as much as I'd hate to admit it, Rakdos, Lord of Riots is a faster and more competitive general. However, that isn't where I wanted to go with this deck. I wanted this to be just hate, with a theme behind it. My friends hate playing against it, and it makes it worth that much more haha.
How has it played at your LGS? Any cards you exchanged because you didn't own, or some that you liked better?

Pheardemons So I've been thinking about this the last few days and i have some ideas for the Seven Deadly Sins Build. I still enjoy the idea of Mardu, but instead of posting a build that has the 7DS as a theme, how about a punishment deck for them? Like for Greed, you punsih players for drawing or tapping Mana, or Lust/Envy, you punish players for taking your creatures by causing burn with a donation. I think Grixis would work for this as well as it gives you access to donation Puca's Mischief or even Bazaar Trader

Rant if you're a women I would kiss you. I haven't liked my grixis build so what you're saying is pretty cool. Do you want me to make the build? It is.kind of your idea, as well as lefty117.

Pheardemons I am a dude. So, let me kinda throw a rough together and I'll let ya finish it :)

As someone whom has considered the style of play you're discussing, I can attest that Grixis would be a good color set for "the seven Deadly Sins" or at least a sampling of them.
So saying, I would also point out that you're basically discussing Nekusar, the Mindrazer. Now that's not a bad thing, but I'm just giving you a fair reminder to not get lost in what others have done before you.
For actually talking about this "all are Rakdos" deck, I feel it is best left as "Rakdos is coming to wreck your s$%!" type of feel. Seems much more unique that way. With the other your opponents have the mindset that they just need to keep their "sins" to a minimum and they will prove themselves the better. Mechanically/politically you don't go out of your way to punish players, giving a sort of "fairness" weakness to the build that would be very on theme to me. Rakdos here on the other hand is as you describe him: a very powerful and very angry demon that has set his sights on making your life a living hell for his amusement.
I quote a League of Legends character to better describe how I see your deck above:
"Screaming will do you no good, but its music to my ears!"

Love the quote TheRedGoat and it is going into the description somewhere. After I rest up I'll figure out where. And thanks for the advice!

... why not use the other Rakdos? I always thought the other one was better. Also, extra combat cards may be useful. Combat Celebrant comes to mind. Looks mean, man. XD don't go defiling anyone too hard!

ComboCrazy - The short answer is it's simply not what I wanted to do with the deck. While the other Rakdos is better (as much as I hate to say it) I just wanted a hate deck. As soon as I saw Rakdos the Defiler I knew i was wanted to build around him. Also, I do h ave a couple combat cards, but I don't want extra combat, I want more triggers of his effect. If I give him double strike, he triggers twice on my opponent, but only once on me. With Strionic Resonator, that's three time to my one.

Pheardemons if you don't want to have the 7DS in one build you can try to focus 6 to 7 different decks each hyper focusing on each 1 of the sins, Envy plays your opponents deck or clones it, Sloth is a lock down prison, gluttony/greed a ramp deck with massive draw power or something like that
they can be the 7 layers of hell

lefty117 Rant mentioned a grixis is build that we're trying. I've had some trouble making it, but slowly getting there. We're focusing on punishing people for the sins. I haven't decided whose the commander yet. Rant likes grixis partners, I'm somewhat partial to Marchesa, the Black Rose. Either way trying different ideas.

Oh, okay. Yeah this certainly achieves cancerous levels of permanent-hate. Also, no Temur Battle Rage or Immolating Souleater? They seem like they'd each fit here.

ComboCrazy - Temur Battle Rage isn't necessary as Fireshrieker and Berserkers' Onslaught are continuous. Why did you mention the immolator? Doesn't seem like it is worth it here.

Pheardemons i like Marchesa, the Black Rose or Nekusar, the Mindrazer. either one i would love to see a Chains of Mephistopheles and Anvil of Bogardan show up in it however i understand price restraints.

lefty117 I'd prefer to avoid Nekusar, as there really is only one way to make him. Marchesa is anlittle more versatile as the dethrone can be a punishment for lifegain. However, Rant did make a good point about the partners as they are more versatile.
May 28, 2017 9:17 p.m.
Slightly late, but I think the deck is already perfect as it is. About Partners, it could work?

RedJokr lol just a little. I've actually moved back with the family for the summer and the internet here doesn't work well, so it'll be a while before I build the sins deck. I agree with Rant about their versatility, but not sure they are what I want as leaders of a punishment deck. Whenever I start to build I'll see what works.

When you've got them together they combo into a t2 kill w/ fast mana, lol. Pay 38 life, make it a 20/1 and give it double Strike and trample. Souleater is just jank, man. Nobody sees phyrexian firebreathing coming

That's not a bad idea ComboCrazy! However, that's not what this deck wants to do. If I'm going to give double strike to anything I'd want to give it to rakdos.

Hmm, okay. I just thought it'd be a cool early option, if you can't get Rakdos out quickly. Also, why Thran dynamo instead of Hedron Archive? Archive seems like it'd be better here, since Rakdos only requires two colorless, and archive provides draw later. Also Heartless Summoning would help a lot here I think. It helps power out your commander, and only prevents you from playing one creature in your deck, Orcish Settlers, which can be removed for something like Fulminator Mage. Also, Lifeline may be worth looking into, in case you run into a lot of removal. Last off, are the artifact hate redundancies on purpose? I understand all the land hate but you've got a lot of artifact wipes in here. I'd replace one of them with another tutor, if you've got one in mind. I'd get rid of Shattering Spree, myself. It's a bit too color-intensive. Subterranean Tremors would be a great replacement either for Spree or Vandalblast, since it doesn't just kill artifacts, doesn't hurt Rakdos, and can be cast for more if you want the 8/8. Just a thought. Seven deadly sins would be cool for this, I think.

If you want to go that angle, I'd recommend doing a Jund build with partners or Mardu
