Looking for some advice for a fairly cheap Populate-based deck for casual to local tournament play. Tis a work in progress, of course, and am open to suggestions. However, some caveats:

The reasoning is simple: MTG is my secondary game behind Heroclix, and I'm not looking to drop a ton of cash on things I don't currently have. I'm open to suggestion, but, please keep the 15 dollar cards out of the discussion.

I've been having problems lately of not being able to 'get up to speed' fast enough. The last few FNMs I have ran this deck, I've either gotten beat to the punch because my opponent got up to speed before I could, OR, because I was up against a trick deck that if I wasn't winning by turn 6-7 then I was screwed.

Any suggestions or playstyles tips would be welcome. =)
