As I love vampires and have most of the cards, I started testing this deck online and the results so far are pretty good. Will probably acquire the cards I don't have as the deck is really fun to play. This is mainly casual but it's pretty competitive.

Here are the options:

Mana Base:

20 lands are more than enough. One red mana per turn is normally enough and so Blood Crypt , Dragonskull Summit and Blackcleave Cliffs are the obvious choice. Mutavault makes a great combo with Stromkirk Captain.

The creatures:

• Olivia Voldaren: The ruler of the house :) Her abilities are great and real game changers.
• Vampire Nighthawk: one of my favorite vampries. Flying, deathtouch and lifelink for three mana. Definitelly a 4of.
• Gatekeeper of Malakir: pretty decent vampire. When kicked, works as a additional spot removal.
• Stromkirk Captain: awesome card. Make other vampires grow faster. Better than Captivating Vampire IMO.
• Bloodghast: This one can be very annoynig to our opponents. Also a great combo with Viscera Seer.
• Viscera Seer: Great combo with Bloodghast. Who doesn't love scry?
• Blood Artist: Continuous life drain. Also a good target for Blade of the Bloodchief.
• Kalastria Highborn: Another source of continuous life drain. Not better than Blood Artist, but different, and I love it.

Other spells:

• Inquisition of Kozilek: Discards almost everything relevant in Modern and it's always good to know how's our situation
• Sign in Blood: Excellent for game acceleration, can also be a finisher in some situations, namely if oponent has 1 or 2 life.
• Lightning Bolt: 1 mana removes most threats in Modern. Also very good against Planeswalkers.
• Terminate: This one is better than similar mono-black spells (Go for the Throat, Doom Blade, Smother and Victim of Night) and kills some creatures that Lightning Bolt can't.
• Geth's Verdict: good against hexproof.
• Blade of the Bloodchief: Excellent to equip vampires and also benefits from Viscera Seer and Bloodghast combo.

The sideboard:

• Geth's Verdict: when more removal is needed, specially useful agains hexproof.
• Pithing Needle: awesome against Planeswalkers, affinity, manlands, Exarch Twins, Kiki Pod, etc.
• Ratchet Bomb: good against Affinity, Tron, GW Auras, Tokens, etc.
• Vampire Hexmage: bye, bye Planeswalkers :)
• Rakdos Charm: great against Affinity and as Grave Hate. Also awesome against infinite tokens, like Exarch Twins and Kiki Pod.
• Slaughter Games: another one of the reasons I splashed red. More Mana needed than Extirpate and Surgical Extraction but I can choose a card that's not on the graveyard. Awesome against a lot of mid/late game threats and a real game changer.
