How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Flubs

Commander / EDH Elementals Landfall Mill RUG (Temur)

PlayNemesis

Maybeboard

Flubs, the Fool is to Magic as the Atomic Bomb was to Dr. Strangelove. He defies standard conventions and requires an altered state to appreciate. The first thing you must accept is that you will not have cards in hand once you get the engine started.

This is my iteration of what Flubs is capable of. This deck focuses primarily on the mechanic of landfall, with a splash of flashback, plot, and foretell. Other themes include graveyard recursion, hand filtering, and self-mill with alternate win-cons. There is not a lot of interaction outside of foretell, so ramp is your ally. The deck can consistently win as early as turn 5, with most win states around turn 8-9. Later turns can turn into solitaire, so make sure your play group is okay with that potential.

Ideally, you want to have a single card in hand or be able to play off the top of your library, from exile, or from the graveyard. There are several discard outlets in the "What Hand?" category to dump excess cards, as well as alternate ways to play from other zones. While discarding powerful cards feels bad, know that there are many opportunities later in the game to play them.

There are only 12 basic lands in the deck but the 9 fetchlands rarely fail to find. I tend to crack them early game for color diversity, or late game for additional landfall triggers (especially the ones that don't naturally tap for mana unless I have a Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth out). Anger, Brawn, and Wonder are great "free" discards and can help with the army of landfall attackers.

I have left the Maybeboard to show all the cards that were initially in the deck or considered for this version. You will notice that there are not many (if any) cards with the keywords of Threshold or Madness, as I found that those were both challenging to pull off.

Some notable combos:

(Lotus Cobra or Tireless Provisioner) + enchanted by Springheart Nantuko = Mana for days

Lotus Cobra + Tireless Provisioner + "More Lands?" creature enchanted by Springheart Nantuko = Unlimited lands per turn

Flubs, the Fool + Eruth, Tormented Prophet + Song of Creation + Teferi's Ageless Insight + any spell = Stack the triggers right, and it exiles 12 cards from your library to play

Dark Depths + Thespian's Stage = A classic...

Some Additional Changes:

Ideally, I should fit in 1-2 more board wipes and 3-5 pieces of interaction.
