What can I say...? Discard, discard and more discard.I've always wanted to make a decent discard deck and I think this one is one of the best I've put together.I've played it a few times in Modern tournaments and have been pretty happy so far. It's really strong against Jund, The Rock, Burn decks, some Burn Control decks, had beaten some Affinity...However, I've struggled against some fast creature heavy decks.
With 4x Thoughtseize and 4x Inquisition of Kozilek you're pretty much garanted a decent 1 drop discard turn one to take away any immediate threat and permanant removal as all my permenants are pretty strong and vital to the mix.
4x Wrench Mind turn 2 if you're lucky if not another 1 drop discard, maybe Raven's Crime and either
The Rack
or
Shrieking Affliction
to put the pressure on.
Turn 3 Liliana of the Veil or Ensnaring Bridge to take care of creature problems.
If you get that set up I honestly think you're in with a decent chance. From then on just keep drawing discard cards and watch your opponent die whilst s/he gets really pissed off, always a bonus!
Cards like Dark Confidant are ace early game and later on as long as you havn't taken too much damage, that's why I'm only going for 2 here. Raven's Crime is the bomb once you get into the game, turning all lands into discard cards :). One card I love at the moment is
Infernal Tutor
! You empty hand really quick thanks to the low mana costs, Liliana of the Veil also helps empty your hand which in turn is also good for Ensnaring Bridge. I actually end up playing discard card on myself when I need the bridge to get to work.
There's always room for improvement though. People I play with have suggested Pack Rat as an alternative why to kill my opponent. Maybe Mutavault to block or attack when the bridge is not out? Waste Not?...I'm not convinced.Any suggestions would be great as I do believe that this deck can be competitive. Thanks for having a look!
