I just like the fact that you can run this whole deck for a whooping $20 on tcg! xD Plus it would contend against some other standard with the amount of bounce.

AEtherling has a home here.

You should add in some Triton Shore Stalkers, it is unbelievably annoying to be killed by a 1/1 unblockable creature.

@Questing_King I dont know why i havent thought of that before.... thanks for the suggestion!! I will replace the Krakens with the Aetherling.

@Red_plays_Blue That is a great suggestion, will put a couple of those in instead of Divination .

Thanks guys (or gals)!

Having 4 Master of Waves seems pointless, with so little devotion. And 4 AEtherling is definitely unnecessary. Max 2, and more draw spells. Either Divination , Inspiration , or Opportunity .

Stymied Hopes is really only good early game. I'd replace it with either Syncopate or Cancel , or 2 of each.

@TheHroth i am afraid that i have to disagree with you on the draw, because i usually have to save all my mana on counterspells and bounce cards that i dont really have time for draw. i have tried draw before, and it proved to not work.

On the Master of Waves i will probably cut it down if not remove all of it... the original deck had more devotion so that was kept in there from the previous decklist.

However, i do in-fact think that AEtherling should stay at 4 because i usually dont play a card like aetherling until i run out of counter/bounce, in which case his mana becomes massively effective.

Won't do the Cancel due to CMC... but i will probably put in the Syncopate though

Thanks 4 the suggestions!!

Every deck needs draw power, or else they just run out of gas all too soon. If you prefer saving mana for counterspells, then I'd reccomend Inspiration or Opportunity . They are instants, so if you're sitting with them and a counterspell, you can decide which one to use on their turn. Leaving mana open may scare the opponent into playing something you don't want to counter, in which case you can draw more cards instead, and have them even more scared next turn.

If you're trying to build a really good budget mono-blue control, you're definitely off to a great start. I'd suggest taking a look at this deck for some ideas:

Thanks TheHroth. That definitely convinced me, but do you prefer which one of the draw spells?? i'm leaning toward Inspiration , but draw four basically refreshes my entire gameplan. Maybe 2 of each? idk. What do u think?

Personally I prefer Opportunity . For the same mana, it draws one more card than it's expensive counterpart, Sphinx's Revelation , but doesnt have lifegain (which is why Rev is played more, and it can be used to draw way more than 4).

Cyclonic Rift may be used instead of Whelming Wave .

Sorry, didn't noticed you already had it there.

@Questing_King No Problem!

Needs AEtherize , Jace, Architect of Thought and more lands.

May 3, 2014 8:36 a.m.

Lordfishyy says... #17

@Arorsthrar I will remove the Whelming Wave for the AEtherize i originally had the whelming wave in there when i had krakens, but i dont anymore.

Unfortunately, i have to disagree with you on the other points. the land base is fine and plays very well.

And in my opinion, Jace, Architect of Thought is absolutely useless. I just am personally not a planeswalker guy, and he is not somebody I want late game.

Thanks for the suggestions!

I think you should run both Whelming Wave and AEtherize . Unless you have been getting near perfect draws all games you've played, I wouldn't expect to get more than 4-5 lands a game with 20 lands, not getting you to AEtherling . Jace, Architect of Thought is the second best card engine, after Sphinx's Revelation . And against aggro decks, it cuts their attacks in half. I definitely don't see this as useless. In fact, it'll help you find lands after you miss land drops because you're only running 20 lands.

@Arorsthrar Thanks. I will reconsider.

KevCow says... #20

I would add a Hands of Binding or a Hidden Strings . cipher one of those to your unblockables and you have a very consistent control

Lordfishyy says... #21

@KevCow Thanks! i have been looking for some sort of enchantment thingy to add on to my shorestalkers and aetherlings. I will probably put in a couple of each.

May 5, 2014 11:25 a.m.

Arorsthrar says... #22

I have to strongly disagree with that idea. With only 5 creatures, one of which shouldn't see any constructed play, running cipher is extremely asinine.

Il also once again propose more lands. Stymied Hopes also needs to go.

May 5, 2014 3:57 p.m.

TheHroth says... #23

I have to agree with Arorsthrar. You should most definitely not run cipher. It is much too inconsistent with only 5 creatures, and ciphering onto AEtherling is next to useless, as the cipher goes away as soon as he blinks.

I think playing Omenspeaker in place of Stymied Hopes and Triton Shorestalker would be highly advantageous.

Here's my take on the deck and how it should look: How To Be Annoying 102

May 5, 2014 7:44 p.m.

Lordfishyy says... #25

@TheHroth and Arorsthrar ok, i guess your right.

@TheHroth I dont think i'll put in the Omenspeaker for the Triton Shorestalker ... it seems that the public is going with no more Stymied Hopes , and that will probably be removed for omenspeaker.

@Arorsthrar i greatly appreciate the deck modification, but the deck is unfortunately way too slow for my tastes to be able to run. Thanks anyway! i probably will retrieve a couple ideas from it.
