scrotality - Thanks! I like the suggestion. However, as much as I would like to put it in, my 4-drop spot needs to stay small. And, well, not much quite competes with Phyrexian Obliterator amirite? If I think I can find space, I might slip in one or two. Thanks again!

I think you need more wincons! Maybe some Grave Titan s could be an ekstra wincon. And i also think you need one or two more counters. Maybe Cryptic Command .

But nice deck! +1

mtgplayer100 - I don't think Grave Titan would really fit in this deck; I want to use as little of my mana as possible on my turn, save the Delvers and discard spells (I'd put the Phyrexian Totem in that group, too, but it's a mana rock, so I still have one up anyway), and the titan is a bit of a curve-topper. As for Cryptic Command ... I like the idea of adding it, but what would I take out?

Thanks for the +1, in any case!

Maybe you could take some Extirpate out and put Cryptic Command in. I don,t think you will need Extirpate , because you already have Surgical Extraction .

And think you need more lands! Maybe you can take some Nephalia Drownyard and some Creeping Tar Pit into the main. These lands are some extra ways to win.

And i also think you need something against agro! Maybe Black Sun's Zenith .

mtgplayer100 - I wouldn't want to take out Extirpate , because it's part of the hate package. I could see maybe taking out the Trickbind and putting them in the side, but I would have to put Smother in their place as aggro-hate.

I like the land ideas - Creeping Tar Pit should definitely be in here. Nephalia Drownyard though, shouldn't be more than a 1 or 2-of. I need to reliably hit double-colours, so I think I'll pass, for now, but I'll keep it in the maybeboard.

Also, I like Black Sun's Zenith , but I don't think this is the place for it. Maybe one or two in the side, but I don't think it'd make the cut as MB removal.

Thanks for the suggestions! I think I might try taking out Dash Hopes for Cryptic Command , but that might be wrong.

I would switch the Phyrexian Totem with Phyrexian Obliterator . I know you like the totem but the loss of your permanents is to risky, also with the obliterator it cost one more at first but you never have to pay for it again saving you mana later on.

HydraOoze - I actually used to have four Obliterators in here, but since I also have a number of Cryptic Command , I need to keep my curve down, in my 20 land deck. That's actually why I had it so that all of my lands produce black. If I do decide to put them back in, I wouldn't cut the Totem, because it's a mana-rock (and much needed) and also gives you an advantage, as far as psychological warfare goes. Plus, after you strip the opponent's hand and kill all their creatures, why not run with it?

I probably will switch them back in, though. I'll probably take out Cryptic Command or something. I will find room, rest assured!

OpenFire - Those are interesting. Mana Leak is an old favourite, of course. And Countersquall doesn't leave much to be desired. I like the ideas. Mana Leak , however, is one of those cards with marginal late-game utility; I'd rather stall with Remand and then strip the cards from the game with a combination of targeted discard and deck-scrubbing. It does, of course, have its uses, though, and I'll keep it in mind.

Now, Countersquall is different. It retains its late-game use fairly well (expect, say, in a control match-up, since it'll run a gauntlet of their own counters), and it does damage. However, I'm not quite comfortable with adding it - not yet. I still need some time to test the deck and determine good and bad match-ups before I start tweaking it to better suit the bad ones. I'll keep this in the maybeboard to remind me that it exists - good eye!

Thanks for the suggestions!

If you like screwing with people, what's better than screwing with them some more? Perplex is a must for control faggotry +1 for Dimir Delver :)

thuzra says... #18

Thanks, fuzzyduck888! I also like Perplex , but it's kinda awkward in here, do you know what I mean? I only have four 3cmc cards, and they're mana-rocks. Transmute doesn't fill any roles. Also, it has the downside of being negated by an opponent who (hopefully) won't have much of a hand by the time I can cast it. Interesting idea, however! I like it.

How about a Snapcaster Mage to flashback your troll spells?

September 16, 2014 8:36 p.m.

thuzra says... #20

JexInfinite - Here's the thing about Schnappi. I love him, I really do (the whole 'Asian guy in a Germanic setting' thing is marvelous, and his ability is okay, too). But he creates kind of an awkward spot? Like, he's not very good if all I'm doing is buying back an Inquisition of Kozilek into an empty hand, or some other silliness. He's stunning, don't get me wrong, but he doesn't end the game in this kind of deck like Delver or Obliterator does. I see where he's useful, of course, but most of the value in this deck is in the things you don't need to pay three or four mana to recast. Also, with that in mind, the flashback bonus is expensive! Unless it's Surgical Extraction , it's costing me a lot of mana I could be devoting to more productive causes. Also, Grafdigger's Cage in the side.

But perhaps I'm nit-picky. If you can convince me of a slot that could be better spent on Ambush Viper I'll certainly consider it. I've been thinking of adding him for a while.

I would probably replace the Phyrexian Totem s with Snappies

September 16, 2014 8:53 p.m.

thuzra says... #22

Um. Hm. Well. Ah. You've put me in an awkward spot, tchau204. Like, you know that moment when you just put something in a deck because you personally really like the card, and don't want to switch it for a clearly better alternative? Hadn't even considered that I could have the deck without the card.

I would love to say 'No, no, the ramp and utility is too useful to pass up' but...

Meh.

Blizzicane says... #24

Squelch instead of Trickbind ? Yes, Trickbind is uncounterable, prevents further use of abilities for the rest of the turn and deals with trigger abilities. However, Squelch replaces itself which is a huge upside, being uncounterable is not that big of a deal unless heavy control meta, the cards your going to be hitting mostly are fetchs and cards that can be only used one per turn anyway, and trigger abilites are not as common/big as activated stabilizes in modern so it can be lived without. But if Trickbind is being used to its fullest I could see why you would keep it but I would prefer to have a card that replaces itself. :3

Overall, interesting deck +1, all this hate reminds me of blue moon and Hatebears/D&T decks. :3
