Lots of random 1 of spells . What is the goal of the deck cause you could seriously improve this.

I have no idea, its stage 1I plan on taking out 3x Thrill-Kill Assassin for 1 of each Tragic Slip , Victim of Night , and Murder

Also, should Rakdos Cackler stay or go?Also, the goal is to destroy all the opponent's creatures and then swing with Kiln Fiend

Rite of Flame into another rite, into another, into Grapeshot stormed 3 times now your Kiln Fiend is +14 then cast fling sac fiend. = game

Miss calculated Kiln Fiend would be +21 in that scenario when you cast Fling for the game

You realize none of the spell copies will trigger Kiln Fiend 's ability right?, my opinion, is that you should run a play set of Guttersnipe and Mizzium Mortars , Dreadbore because you really just want removal up the butt if you are going to make this a deck focused on Kiln Fiend , your alternate win condition could be Guttersnipe but as of right now you really don't need the rest of your creatures...

OK, thanks for the advice

I will take out Thrill-Kill Assassin and Rakdos Cackler , I will keep Vampire Nighthawk though

Yeah Vampire Nighthawk can be pretty good, but you need to make this deck as minimally creature based as possible...

Drop Victim of Night for Doom Blade and maybe you could try to fit in a Bump in the Night or two.

OK, I was thinking about that

My first suggestion is to add blue. Kiln Fiend really struggles without draw/filtering to dig for more fuel. Blue is also really nice for making Kiln Fiend unblockable since you don't want to waste your time boosting them only to have them be blocked. Having said that, my guess is that you want to stick to Red/Black, so I'll focus on that from here on.

Definitely add more Assault Strobe . It's easily a 4-of in a Kiln Fiend deck.

Faithless Looting would help you dig for fuel and pitch excess lands.

Aphotic Wisps isn't the most reliable for getting the Fiends past your opponents' defense, but it's generally better than Cremate .

Mutagenic Growth isn't red or black, but it's a free +5/+5 Fiend boost that you could play in this deck.

I'd cut Murder because it's so expensive to play. Kiln Fiends want cheap spells. Doom Blade or Go for the Throat would be better, though I'd probably cut all the "Destroy target creature" removal and use burn spells as removal instead.

I'm also wary of Tainted Strike . It really only works with Kiln Fiend, as it's a one-shot deal and none of your other creatures can boost high enough to use it.

Have you considered using Nivix Cyclops as 1) a big butt blocker and 2) an alternate source of damage in a pinch?

My experience with Kiln Fiend is he eats a removal spell almost immediately, and having another 4 copies (essentially) is a boon.

I really want the deck to stay fast, and as red/black

Ok, what are your thoughts on Gitaxian Probe ?

August 15, 2013 12:25 p.m.

qwertyking says... #16

That has been on my wish list, If I can get ahold of it it will be in there with Mutagenic Growth

Probe is one of the best deck thinners ever printed my opinion

Apostle's Blessing is a good option to protect the Fiends from removal, as well as allow them to dodge blockers.

I would suggest taking out the Evolving Wilds for Sulfur Falls . That will give you quite a bit more speed.

OK, The Evolving Wilds Was there untill I got A fetchland, but I'll try that

Do you like it?

August 29, 2013 10:02 a.m.

asaxgod says... #22

Evolving Wilds is bad in competitive play because the land it gets come into play tapped no matter what. you don't want to get behind a turn in any competitive format.

I would not replace Mutagenic Growth with Brute Force . Being able to play a spell for no mana is invaluable in a deck like this. The extra +1 P/T boost will hardly ever make a difference.

And qwertyking have you found the Nivix Cyclops to be worthy of inclusion? I don't run them in my Kiln Fiend deck because they seem too slow and expensive to play. Instead, I run Delver of Secrets  Flip because the deck is already packed with instants and sorceries to fuel the Fiends.
