Might I suggest Channel the Suns to cast Scion turn 4?

Swapped Curiosity for Snake Umbra then noticed that Protective Sphere, Pernicious Deed, Bant Charm and Cleansing Meditation are all 3 drops and are some very potent cards. so I added Perplex for the transmute, but it is also a decent counterspell for EDH, I mean hands are usually bigger and in multiplayer who wanted to discard their hand?

Ok, so I could not get the deck back down to 100... so, I took Perplex back out and I also took Global Ruin out, I like that card and it works in the deck. but it is not super crucial, and it is kinda not fun to destroy everyone's lands.

About Channel the Suns: it really only gets me 1 mana (costs 4 to get 5) so there isn't much ramp there, and it costs a card to do it. I don't need much fixing, the deck runs nicely as is. I'd put in Darksteel Ingot before Channel the Suns for the reoccurring ramp/fix.

I really like Curiosity/Keen Sense and Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind it is very consistent so I am thinking of adding Laboratory Maniac or Credit Voucher. I will draw into it and cast it and have a solid win.

You Definitely need to put Crucible of Fire in the deck

I really like that card and want to add it but I just don't NEED it. As it says in the description

"Dragons are already big and by the time I really have enough dragons to make this cards worth it it is likely that I am going to win any ways."

And what card would I take out? I've really honed it down to only the best cards (IMO)

Control Magic is not as good in my opinion.

You should check out the new DTK dragons for this deck when they come out.

Especially

Dragonlord Dromoka

Savage Ventmaw

Arashin Sovereign

And other great ones:

Dragon Tempest

Shaman of Forgotten Ways - You know, to kill someone faster.

Sarkhan Unbroken

HostOfSmallPox all of that is good... but not great.

YourGod42 Control Magic is great to take commanders and the huge creatures that often rittle the battlefield in EDH like Blightsteel Colossus. creatures that are indestructible can still be stolen.

there's alot of good ideas here i could definitely use in my scion deck, I know its already been suggested but Quicksilver Dragon is awesome and i highly recommend it. Of course my playgroup uses a crap ton of spot removal so it might not be as good depending on who your playing against

I am actually thinking that it would be good to take out one of the "star" dragons for the Quicksilver Dragon because the "star" dragons only activate if I allow it to enter the grave yard. sometimes that is ok, but sometimes I want it back in the command zone.

im just gonna point out 1 minor detail...the deck is one card short. it counts the general as one even when you dont put it in with the rest of the deck, so its counting scion the ur-dragon twice

March 20, 2015 1:56 a.m.

Zer0w says... #13

I just counted the cards and it looks like your right... But I thought that if the card counter thing showed 100 then your good. Is that not the case? Should it show 101? That seams odd.

There are some many good cards I took out... What to put back in I wonder?

RaKiller says... #14

no you just dont put the commander in where you put the rest of the cards. it counts the card the you put in the commander section when you make it.

I didn't ever list Scion in the deck... just the commander spot, as a matter of fact when I edit the deck it lists 0X Scion of the Ur-dragon. When I deleted Scion it did drop the deck to 99 cards... but I still think it is odd that it added Scion, listed it a 0X but then counted it. strange. oh well .more room for another card.

Thanks BTW. I wouldn't have caught that.

I love the deck. +1 all day long. And the story is pretty epic too. Can't really think of any suggestions, although I will say that Savage Ventmaw is pretty nice. I turned Scion of the Ur-Dragon into it attacked, and played Hellkite Charger with the 6 mana it produced. Wouldn't mind if you could take a look at my deck and give me any advice/suggestions! My deck is A Never Ending Dragon.

Love the title, thanks for the link to the deck. I'll probably be grabbing some of your suggestions into mine, though a few are out of budget. I do have a few questions:

I have Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund in my deck right now, and in my first trial matchup with it, I got wrecked when my opponent played Bribery, found him in my deck, stole all my dragons, and swung for lethal very quickly. Is this a scenario that should prevent me from playing him in my deck? With the combo Dragon Tyrant + Might of the Nephilim , if you cast Might of the Nephilim in response to the ability on Scion of the Ur-Dragon, would the creature get +10/+10 first, but then reduce it down to +2/+2? or would the +10/+10 stick around, since that's how many colors the Ur-dragon was at the time the spell was cast?

In my deck Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund is very crucial for the "all dragons get haste" power. but I play my deck very different then it look like yours is made for. I don't build an army on the battlefield, I hunker down and either kill by way of combos with scion, or I build an army in the graveyard mass reanimate them and swing with 8 double strike dragons and 2 attack phases. that means that I never really have a mess of dragons to steal (though losing scion would suck). so I am not as afraid as you are to include Karrthus. it also depends on you play group and what they are playing.

EDH has lots of very cool/powerful cards like Bribery, that is why I include some control in my deck. I can't just rely on a mess of dragons. I only have 15 of the best dragons in the deck, the rest of the deck is ramp/fix, control/disruption, pillow fort and combos

Might of the Nephilim works great. it give +10/+10 "until end of turn" so even if the creature changes colors after the fact the +10/+10 is already there and sticks around UEOT. also when Scion changes to a new dragon it actually stays your commander so it deals commander damage and activates Tyrant's Familiar when it is Tyrant's Familiar (that's very cool!)

Ok, thanks, I appreciate it. I misdid the math, so thanks for confirming. I will probably need to cut some dragons. This is my first EDH deck ever, so a lot of refinement and stylistic decisions will be needed.

Zer0w says... #23

I saw piebandit swapped out Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund for Dragonlord Kolaghan to protect from cards like Bribery and Animate Dead, and though I really like Karrthus, I think it wise to do the same.

I dunno how I missed that from when I looked at all of the new dragons. likely it was because his last ability is useless in EDH.

Karrthus... you will be missed ;(

I know. It was a hard cut, but the right call. I still need to crack open my commander 2014 intro back for some color fixing, utility spells and Steel Hellkite, but what do you think of the changes so far? I made some trades for some of the more expensive useful cards.

Interesting set up you've got here! I like it. I have a Scion deck as well, Scion's Army of the Dark Realms. One thing you might want to consider is using Teneb, the Harvester.

Because Scion put's him in the grave when you use him, after combat you can revive Teneb, and reanimate whatever you tutor up with Scion on the next turn. I might suggest using Whispersilk Cloak to be able to always make Scion's damage go through.

By the way, Bear Umbra and Mycosynth Lattice, brutal, man. Brew-tull. +1!
