I face palmed so hard when i saw that you put in Dragonlord Kolaghan in a commander deck. But i think you only putted that dragon in because of the Other creatures you control have haste thing right?

Big-Foot

Thanks for the comments and the +1. I'll have to look at your soon too.

Teneb, the Harvester is the best/most tempting dragon out of the "whenever __ deals damage pay 3 to..." dragons, however 2 to activate scion then he must deal damage then 3 to activate his power is just a little too much, just to reanimate 1 dragon.

XYZAP

yes, I skipped over Dragonlord Kolaghan at first because the last power is crap in EDH but the all creatures gain haste is super crucial when I go off with Rise of the Dark Realms or the like. I can end the game right then and there. Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund is much better and I had him for the longest time... but he is just too risky. If someone else takes it from my GY or deck I lose my commander and any other dragons I might have and they get to swing at me for a lot. not good. so out with the old and in with the new.

Just added Dack's Duplicate + Enduring Scalelord that is a cool combo... It only costs 7 mana to do it, 2 mana to turn scion into scalelord and 4 to cast dack's dupe. then attack and shazam! there HUGH!!!

Love the Enduring Scalelord Idea. I love it when people add selesnya stuff to decks.

Oh my goodness this deck is amazing! I think I may have just found something to get rid of a pesky little Sliver problem I have been having for the past few weeks. Speaking of Slivers, have you ever faced any Sliver EDH decks using Sliver Overlord as a commander? If so, have you beaten any of them? I would really like to know, because I think this deck may just solve my problems.

I actually have not... my play group doesn't like slivers simply because they are a bit over-powered and not particularly original. I have been tempted myself to build one but the lack of creativity in the build prevents me. but I think this deck fun, strong and is VERY versatile and EXTREMELY adaptive. it wants to kill everyone via infinite combos but a mass reanimation with haste will do the trick if the plan A fails.

against a sliver deck I think the ramp to pillow forts will help out a lot keeping your opponents killing each other rather then you. while you set up. the control can stop anyone from going nuts and pulling some bonkers game ending moves. then you go crazy yourself.

Also, I like that almost all of the combos are actually fun. none of this stupid "I gain infinite life" crap! I mean how cool is "I attack you with infinite attack phases"? or "I put everything in your hand with Cyclonic Rift then hit you with Nicol Bolas"? (well that one kinda sucks for your opponent... but at least it is interesting)

I think it would be a strong competitor vs Slivers but I don't have to tell you they are strong too. I you pull off a win I think pillow forts and politics will play a roll.

You are very welcome to proxy this deck and try it out before you buy anything. if you do please let me know how you like it.

Speaking of infinite combos, I made this one combo that gives me infinite turns using Ral Zarek and a Time Vault. Instead of skipping a turn to untap Time Vault, simply use Ral Zarek's +1 ability to untap time vault and then tap it again so that you get another turn. You keep repeating this until you have enough mana and creatures to take your opponents out in one fell swoop. Sadly my Time Vault was proxied so I can't use it outside my playgroup.

Btw, I am having trouble understanding how the Enduring Scalelord + Dack's Duplicate combo works. Could you please explain that one more clearly to me?

September 28, 2015 2:41 a.m.

Zer0w says... #8

I made a hole deck based on taking infinite turns Sundial of Infinite Fish Slaps ... unfortunately one of the combo pieces are not modern legal. Time Vault is a totally broken card made before they really understood what MTG was and what it would become and has a ton of ways to untap it and take infinite turns, which is the reason it is banned in EDH.

The way my play group does things now is we proxy everything, but then require some budget rules like "the deck can't be over $100" or "no one card except your commander can cost more then $30" or something like that. that way we can build decks whenever we want to with out having to acquire the cards. some of us then do get the cards and build the deck, but some of us do not. it is just a game and most of the fun is building the decks.

Dack's Duplicate and Enduring Scalelord works because Dack's Duplicate has dethrone and haste. when you cast him and attack the player with the most life he gets a +1/+1 counter, when he does it triggers the Enduring Scalelord's ability and gives him a +1/+1 counter and that triggers Dack's Duplicate's copied same ability and on and on and on until I want it to stop since dethrone happens when you attack (not after damage is dealt) you can allow all of those counters to be added THEN damage will be dealt! if they have a blocker it is dead if not the opponent is dead. keep in mind that only Dack's Duplicate needs to attack the player with the most life, the Enduring Scalelord can attack anyone you want!

Oh I get it now. You have to make Dack's Duplicate enter as Enduring Scalelord to trigger the ability infinitely and doesn't actually require both creatures to attack. I see, thanks for the help.

Bring to Light is coming out. I really like it, but, there is very little that I would get with this card. I really want enchantments or artifacts most. and Bring to Light doesn't tutor them. bummer, it should be sweet. just not in THIS 5 color deck.

try putting in the Moltensteel Dragon / Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon combo. you search twice with ur-dragon, pump him up with the moltensteel while trigger 2 is on the stack, then give him haste with skittles and attack for 10 poison

I understand the combo but don't much like it... I give up some life to kill an opponent... in a multiplayer game that means everyone else wins in that exchange. I prefer Dragon Tyrant and Might of the Nephilim I know I can't use scion to find Might of the Nephilim but I don't like hurting myself for 12 to kill someone.

as i see it, you already have the scourge/ (atarka or tyrant) combo to almost 1-shot someone with commander damage, you should at least put in the Moltensteel because it gives you the opportunity, especially if someone at your table is doing something stupid and is at around 80+ life, or there are only 2 people left.

I don't know why I didn't see this before but Chromatic Lantern and Mycosynth Lattice combo with Dragon Tyrant really well. by being able to pump him up with any color mana it is sure to land a devastating blow. that said I still don't really want to add Skittles and moltensteel for the reason I mentioned above I don't like hurting myself for 12 to kill someone else. I have enough ways to kill someone even if they have infinite life via attacking infinite times or commander damage.

GobboE thanks. I think it is pretty solid. it can end the whole game in one suprise turn and it seems to have an answer for everything... well, you know, most things.

Some of your non-includes made me cry a little (Teneb, the Harvester and buddies) but I can see that for your deck they are simply not needed. I would though recommend, Vorosh, the Hunter, just because the counters stay and work well with Atarka, World Render and Dragon Tyrant. Your deck is far superior to mine in that it is more than just a common beatdown, and can adapt and change for a number of situations. I will definitely take inspiration from it, but I don't know how much I could use considering I am more of a common beatdown kind of guy, and all my decks generally just hit face.

I must say that your dragon deck is absolutely splendid albeit with a few of my own touches. I played some 4 way EDH with my friends yesterday and I was able to pull a solution to every problem. My friend stole my Flameblast Dragon and used it's fireball ability to do extra damage on me but little did he know that the next turn would be his defeat. I recast my Scion for 7 mana, turned him into Karrthus for another 2 mana to gain haste and take all his dragons including my flameblast dragon and my Intet, the dreamer. I swang in with all three but I changed Karrthus into a Hellkite Tyrant while I was attacking and I also had Mycosynth lattice on the field. He not only lost all his permanents but I finished him off as well. We had a 1v1 rematch and I killed him the Hellkite Charger + Bear Umbra combo.

This deck is amazing fun, I don't know how you thought of it but thank you so much for sharing it with us. This deck is just solid gold!

bennybubbles thank for the looksee and the complements. I really put a lot of time into the deck to make it fun, versatile, and powerful.

as far as my "non-includes" go, As I mentioned in my description, I don't like Teneb, the Harvester and friends because the for scion's ability plus the for Teneb's ability means I can't do much else that turn and all it does is reanimates 1 fatty and only if I can land a non-evasion hit... just seems a little over ratted after you really look at it. The deck is more designed to end the game or at least kill a player or fill my battle field in one turn. Teneb doesn't really do those things. as far as Vorosh, the Hunter the hunter goes I would rather have the 1,000,000,000,000 +1/+1 counters provided by Enduring Scalelord (with Dack's Duplicate) placed on Scion BEFORE I deal damage AND I get to add 1,000,000,000,000 +1/+1 counters to Dack's Duplicate who can attack the turn he drops for a total of 6 mana for the whole combo rather then 6 +1/+1 counters after I deal damage that Vorosh provides for 5 mana.

sennybee "God Love ya", I had to laugh when you told me about how you won by casting Scion and turning him into Karrthus to take all his dragons. that doesn't work because that is an ETB (enter the battlefield) ability and he did not ETB as Karrthus, he entered as scion then turned into Karrthus thus not triggering his ETB ability. then, you may not change Scion more then once per turn unless you use the stack and do it all at once and let it resolve, it did not sound like that is what you did turn Scion into Karrthus let that resolve to take his dragons then into Hellkite Tyrant. A win is a win even if you bent (totally out of shape) the rules and no body called you on it. SWEET! do it again if they let ya. Heh heh heh! Thank you so much for the kind words.

@Zer0w using teneb and friends isn't so bad if you have Mirari's wake on the field. As for bending the rules, I actually didn't know that you couldn't change Scion more than once a turn without the stack and as for Karrthus' ETB ability, well, let's just say it was payback for the last match where one of my friends used a wrath sorcery on my turn.

Zer0w says... #20

"Heh Heh Payback suckahs!" and yes with Mirari's wake nothing is impossible. I love that card. but my deck is sooooo honed that I would't know what to take out to include Teneb and friends. I did just take out Hull Breach for Fearsome Awakening. it has a great flavor and works in the deck, but mostly it combos with Enduring Scalelord to add 1,000,000,000,000 +1/+1 counters on both Scion and Enduring Scalelord for 7 mana. then swing for a nasty blow.
