Have you considered if you are going to keep this standard when M14 rolls in? If so I'd love to hear what you will change to keep this a strong deck that still revolves around dragons.

I know Slumbering Dragon won't be around and he is near the core of this deck, but I'm sure you could think of something!

Dude I can't beleive this deck is rated 81 and had a number 1 rank on tapped out , when my deck just like it thats 60 cards that I posted for weeks before this one that this one mirrors only gets 6 +1s. Look at the deck I brewed Waking Dragons

Yeah the loss of Slumbering Dragon and Thundermaw Hellkite as well as a few other cards will be big hits to the deck.

I've seen the spoilers for Scourge of Valkas. Looks like it could have some crazy synergy with Utvara Hellkite . Not sure if there'll be any other viable replacements coming with M14.

I'm sure we'll have to wait it out but one could easily assume Theros might hold some pretty sweet dragons

Somberwald Sage is great in a big creature deck deck, and you should consider Zhur-Taa Ancient , he helps a lot with Kessig Wolf Run and if you have him then Moonveil Dragon would be a good choice to put into the deck.

I usually don't have mana issues, though Zhur-Taa Ancient may come into play if this sticks around after rotation. Thanks for the suggestions!

Didn't look at deck yet... cause the quote is "Don't meddle in the affairs of dragon, for you are crunchy and taste like chicken." Okay, now to look at deck xD

Thanks everyone for viewing!

@KaoCondettori: Actually I believe the quote is "Do not meddle in the affairs of wizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger." Though I've heard both versions of the dragons one. :)

better turn 4 win scenario

T1: Arbor Elf T2: Gyre Sage then Slumbering Dragon then a second Arbor Elf T3: Increasing Savagery on Gyre Sage tap Gyre Sage for six green then Arbor Elf taps for seven flash back Increasing Savagery on the Slumbering Dragon making him a 13/13 flyer 3rd turn T4: watch as u destroy your opponent this turn turn with delicious satisfaction

This is true. Thundermaw Hellkite just helps guarantee the damage gets through.

After some playtesting I haven't found the point of having Renegade Krasis in here. Surely his spot could be filled with something better.

July 9, 2013 1:13 p.m.

Emrakool says... #13

Renegade Krasis can evolve Gyre Sage on Turn 3 if I haven't hit any other ramp to throw down a 4/5cmc drop on that turn. It can become a threat itself because of evolve, plus when it evolves it continues to add counters to Gyre Sage and Slumbering Dragon .

The latter part is useful if I don't draw Increasing Savagery , helping the dragon wake up faster.

How about Fling ? In a deck with so many big creatures and many of them getting buffs, Fling is a simple and cheap way to burn your opponent .
And I personally love Rush of Blood + Fling .

July 11, 2013 4:50 a.m.

Emrakool says... #15

I like Fling , but I think it's best suited to situations when it's hard to push damage through. Though it would combo well with Increasing Savagery . With Kessig Wolf Run , 11 flying creatures, and Thundermaw Hellkite ensuring they get through it's not much of an issue.

Ah well just a suggestion. May just be me, but chucking my massive creature in my opponent's face is really satisfying.

It can be, I think I'm just used to seeing enough of it from my friend. After I ran Rite of Consumption in an EDH deck I've constantly seen it and Fling showing up in stuff he builds.

+1 from me. Long live the dragons. Shivan Dragon would be proud. Haha. Anyway, please feel free to check out my main brew The Voices of Selesnya if you haven't already. Comment and upvote if you like my ideas.

Shivan Dragon was the star of my very first deck! Even though the deck sucked, but isn't that the case with most first brews? Thanks for the +1!

You sir, could be Sarkhan Vol 's apprentice. This is insane. I'm gonna have to take some of these cards and put them in my deck! spams +1

Thanks! I actually play Sarkhan Vol in a Modern Elementals deck. Only been able to use his ultimate once, but he gives me extra options to give Nova Chaser haste. :)

Shall I tell you what this deck needs? It needs MOAR BALFIRE DRAGUNS!

On a more serious note, this deck needs more Balefire Dragon . Like, 6, if that's allowed.

On an even more serious note, have you tried Burst of Strength ? It may sound odd, but hear me out.

Opponent: Hmmm... His Slumbering Dragon has no +1/+1 counters on it. I'll attack with 4 creatures.

You: Ok, I put 4 +1/+1 counters on him, then use Burst of Strength , he now has 5 counters and I have an 8/8 flying to block with.

Anyway, this deck is awesome. +1

Emrakool says... #23

Thanks! It's true Balefire Dragon should be the Relentless Rats of dragons. I think I'd probably run more for competitive play, but I went with 2 Utvara Hellkite since I play a ton of casual multiplayer. So instead of wiping out one person, it goes more like this...

Opponent: Utvara Hellkite ? What the hell? He's already got 4 dragons out! Somebody please board wipe! Anybody? We're all gonna die!

Me: Muahahahaha!

I strayed away from the lone +1/+1 counter idea because I was trying to keep the focus on dragons in general and not just Slumbering Dragon . Usually I draw into Increasing Savagery pretty consistently, and if not my other 3-5 drops usually make people want to stop attacking. People become very hesitant on trying to kill off Deadbridge Goliath as well, because they know where the scavenge counters are going. So it makes for excellent face-beating until they have to do something about it.

Ok, I see your point. Face beating is enjoyable.

I really like this deck, I think If all the Innistrad M13 stuff wasn't going out of std soon I would try to pick this up.

Have you considered Goblin Diplomats or Hunger of the Howlpack as options?
