I know Goblin Diplomats seems like a card built to interact with Slumbering Dragon , but I think it fits an entirely different deck style better. Maybe something with Slumbering Dragon , large defender/reach/vigilance creatures like Ruric Thar, the Unbowed , and Domri Rade .
This deck's top end is centered around a creature with haste, one that benefits me by dealing combat damage to a player, and one that makes dragons whenever I attack with a dragon. Add Kessig Wolf Run to the mix and to me it says "Play ramp, drop big creatures quickly, kill." It also means I don't have many Turn 1-3 blockers to lure creatures into with Goblin Diplomats . So for the mana cost it fills, I'd rather have Gyre Sage and Farseek fueling the top end of the deck. Plus I've got 6 cards in the deck which can be used to put exactly five +1/+1 counters on Slumbering Dragon . I think it's pretty good odds of drawing one, and even better odds if I draw Garruk, Primal Hunter . :)

+1 from me. Love the deck! I copied it, made some changes to better suit my style. However, why do you keep the Gruul Guildgate ? I removed it first thing myself.
I also found myself doing the combo Increasing Savagery cast on Gyre Sage to cast Garruk, Primal Hunter and instantly sac him to draw (atleast) 6 cards. Additionally to a full hand this also opens up for the flashback on Increasing Savagery next turn. And this combo made me consider and eventually removing the soul of the harvest to make room for more garruks.
I also wonder what your take is on Searing Spear vs Mizzium Mortars ?
Check out my deck Draklek numero uno and have a good one!

Thanks! I added the Gruul Guildgate actually because I didn't want to pull anything from the deck as is, but I felt that 22 lands was a very low count for running so many high cost cards. Plus I felt that having more access to red mana without filtering out green mana was worth it.
Adding more Garruks is probably the better overall play, but I've had plenty of fun using Soul of the Harvest . It also makes an excellent target for Increasing Savagery for mega trample damage!
I do love me some Mizzium Mortars , but my need for Brimstone Volley extends only really to small creatures that can become big. Later in the game I trust my creatures to be bigger and badder than my opponent's, in which case it becomes 5 damage to the dome in retaliation if they kill one of my creatures. Plus Kessig Wolf Run and Thundermaw Hellkite usually negate the need to sweep the board for a free swing. If it does come down to that, I've got Bonfire of the Damned waiting in the SB. :)

I really like this deck. +1 for sure. For the lulz, you could always try a Guild Feud seeing as you have a pretty good chance at winning those fights.

Thanks! I think Guild Feud could be fun, though it doesn't have quite the immediate impact I'd like here. Most of my creatures already outclass what they'd be fighting in size and flying, so I'd be most concerned if I either let my opponent drop a bigger creature, even a Boros Reckoner , or gave a control deck access to something worth flashing back for them.

Love this deck ever time I see it, made me make a deck I could use dragons in, and (while I feel this is bad form) I am desperate for good criticism, what do you think? Who needs Elves?

this deck would be absolute beast in Modern format.

i love the idea, but like all combo decks you need a pretty specific opening hand.

Thanks! It's not really so much a combo deck outside of Slumbering Dragon and Increasing Savagery and has run well for me overall. I should probably run 3 Garruk, Primal Hunter as someone suggested before as he provides me with stability against heavy removal, though I like the extra trampling power of Soul of the Harvest .
@canterlotguardian, I do intend to keep this together for casual play as it's been one of my favorite decks to pilot in recent years. I'm not sure what changes I'd make if I considered updating it for Modern, but at least I'd have a nice pool of dragons to choose from. :)

Darn you emrakool! But for this pesky deck, my ramp deck would be the highest rated Wolf Run Ramp deck on TappedOut! I'm so close...

True. At least I haven't updated it for Modern play though, so you've got me there. I'd like to make a shrine to this thing though. So much fun has been had with it. :)

Great deck! I love how you've set it up.
It would be greatly appreciated if you would come check out my elf deck real quick, Mono Green Elf Deck I need some ideas/suggestions.
+1 from me :)

It is legal in Modern, if not built for that format.
Have you considered 4x Utopia Sprawl ? They pair so nicely with Arbor Elf .

There is another way to win with dragons at T4 and maybe even faster. Check this out Slumbering Valkas. Swaping Bioshifts to Armed / Dangerous would make winning much faster with double strike, but i like to have some protection.
Enyway nice deck you have here +1.

Okay, this is going to sound stupid, and you might've answered this before but I have to ask: why do you feel the need for the Cavern of Souls? I get it's an amazing land with absurd potential, but my issue is there's no specific type of creature you're aiming to get each time. I get the dragons are the target, but that's assuming you can get them on a draw. And even with Farseek you still have no control on when you get them. I just feel the Cavern isn't necessary unless you're running not that many creatures, and that those creatures are 100% needed. But usually those have something ready to either fetch them or control the draw-process like scry. Perhaps you might want to look at Temple of Abandon?

I had tried Curse of the Nightly Hunt before with Slumbering Dragon , but I wasn't really happy with it. After a bunch of different brews I decided to go after an all out dragons deck, using Increasing Savagery for the fact that it puts 5 counters on all at once. Plus the other dragons tend to come out relatively fast, which also spells trouble.
Another problem Slumbering Dragon really has with waking up is WUB or WUR control, and Midrange decks. If I'm waiting for them to attack then it's usually too late to bother.
