How to Win Friends and Influence People

Commander / EDH BUG (Sultai) Combo Infinite Combo Ramp

thesilentpyro

This decklist has one purpose, and one purpose only:

Playing every single card your opponents have brought to the table. It does damn near nothing until it goes off, but boy is it hilarious.

It goes off from having a single card in your hand: any card that can tutor for a creature. It does need a bunch of mana, usually in the neighborhood of 20 or so to combo off in one turn, depending on what you use to start the combo. Tooth and Nail for Rune-Scarred Demon + Palinchron will do it off 10, Defense of the Heart triggering for the same will do it off 8, with the limiting factor being Deadeye Navigator + flicker mana. Almost all the pieces have redundancies, at least the important ones that come before you can lock out your opponents.

Here's how it works:

  1. Tutor up Rune-Scarred Demon. You can also get Fierce Empath if the demon is somehow unavailable, but that makes things a little more complicated.
  2. Get Deadeye Navigator (or Temur Sabertooth), flicker your demon/Empath to get Palinchron or Great Whale. You now have infinite mana, infinite flicker, and infinite tutors (with the Sabertooth, you'll need something that makes your lands tap for more mana). If you used Fierce Empath instead of Rune-Scarred Demon, you go get Sphinx of Magosi and draw your deck instead of tutoring.
  3. Get Eternal Witness (or Archaeomancer and Regrowth). You now have infinite recursion.
  4. If any of your opponents' generals are on the battlefield, get them off somehow. It doesn't really matter how; there's bounce in the deck. You want them in your opponents' hands or command zones (so they're available for casting later). Other zones can be dealt with, it just takes a bit more finagling.
  5. Get Mindslaver and recur it for all your opponents.
  6. Get Gather Specimens. On your opponents' turns, cast their generals and respond with Gather Specimens so they come in under your control. If they don't have mana to cast their generals, simply slaver-lock them until they can.
  7. Get a bounce spell. Bounce everything your opponents have. If there are things with shroud, get Cyclonic Rift first.
  8. Get Primal Command and shuffle your opponents' graveyards into their libraries.
  9. Get Riftsweeper and shuffle any exiled cards into their libraries.
  10. Get Perish the Thought to put all cards in your opponents' hands in their libraries.
  11. Get Praetor's Grasp and steal everyone's libraries.
  12. Get Journey of Discovery so you can play all of their lands.
  13. Get Mycosynth Lattice. The way it's worded, it lets you cast spells despite the Commander rules on producing mana outside your color identity. Play your opponents' decks from the Praetor's Grasps.
  14. Get Concordant Crossroads to give everything haste.
  15. Kill each of your opponents with their own decks.

The only cards this doesn't get are cards that have been exiled face-down, such as with Pyxis of Pandemonium, which are irretrievable. Every other card your opponents brought to the table will be on your side of the field, and everything except their commander has been cast by you to boot, so you get on-cast and ETB abilities.

Praetor's Grasp is the way to go with this (over something like Jace, Architect of Thought + Doubling Season + Wheel of Sun and Moon) because it's easily recurable, in tutoring colors, gets lands, and lets you cast things, giving you on-cast triggers as well. Villainous Wealth is the easier way to do something similar, but also doesn't hit lands.
