Essence Warden for infinite life?

Maaaaaybe on Intruder Alarm fnchmtt92. If it were you, what would you pull from the deck for it???

I don't think I would play Essence Warden griz024, most of the people I play with in my group would either be shut out of the game by it, or with a few it won't matter and then they'll turn around and combo kill me anyways. I don't want to completely shut those newer players out like that, and I would also not be fond of a combo that doesn't do anything against some of the other competitive players in the group. It's also a combo piece that doesn't do anything really on it's own if that makes sense.

Could Master Biomancer make the cut?

Also what about Hardened Scales?

November 9, 2015 12:51 p.m.

Master Biomancer was originally in the list, but it nombos with my general in that it stops me from getting anymore experience counters so I wound up removing it for other stuff.

Hardened Scales also seems kind of lack luster. If I were to go that route, Doubling Season would do more, but even then I feel like you're just durdling at that point, I would rather just draw more cards.

Okay. This will sound generic but. . . How about Hangarback Walker?

November 10, 2015 5:41 a.m.

iLikeDirt says... #6

My issue with Hangarback Walker is that at 2 mana, it impacts almost nothing. At 4 mana, he's not doing enough to warrant the 4 drop spot when compared with Aluren, Greater Good or even compared to Soul's Majesty. He doesn't add to the Aluren plan, he doesn't fit the elf beat down plan too well either unfortunately. Thanks for looking at the deck though, I appreciate the suggestions/feedback c:

may want the new Skullwinder in here, as well - it is actually possible to add it to decks even though it says no card found

How about Chasm Skulker? (A strictly better Hangarback IMO which also works well with Aluren and Glimpse of Nature)

Why is there no Genesis Chamber?

November 11, 2015 12:37 a.m.

griffstick says... #15

i think Joraga Warcaller if kicked counter interacts with the whole deck making your creatures enter the battlefield higher than 2 power... Joraga Warcaller kicked shuts down your deck! tell me why im wrong

griffstick says... #17

perfect, switch out Joraga Warcaller for Trygon Predator... Trygon Predator is GREAT in edh. MUST add it. it WREAKS decks!

I'll attest to that!

So as a comment to generally answer some suggestion that have been left:

Cephalid Constable doesn't really add anything to the deck, it HAS to connect to do something and doesn't have any natural evasion so I'm not a fan.

Momentous Fall is a card, but I feel like it would be one draw spell too many.

Skullwinder gives my opponents a card back, that is SO not happening.

Genesis Chamber, same principle as Skullwinder. I don't want to be giving anyone any free resources.

Chasm Skulker, it just doesn't do enough. If the thing is going to die, then so is the rest of my board most likely. That means I get zero triggers from them entering the battle field, and the creature has little to no synergy with what I'm trying to do.

Trygon Predator is going in the maybe slot. After playing something like 20ish games I've found that Joraga Warcaller and Descendants' Path weren't up to my liking so I have a couple slots that I can test and change there. Trygon is just a good card that can soak up one of those slots and I would be okay with.

Skullwinder... pick an opponent without anything threatening in the graveyard. Same principle as many seemingly symmetrical effects that require little effort to make them asymmetrical (Genesis Chamber, Tasigur, the Golden Fang, Tangle Wire, etc.)

And really... what about wrath prevention? No counters, no indestructibility?

"No no deck too fast"

Well, really, it isn't. T1 and T2, you have some pretty devastating wraths that will need to be dealt with, for instance Blasphemous Act, Toxic Deluge. Getting wiped at the katamari stages of the creature ball could be crippling

Maybe some defensive counterspells, maybe some things like Eldrazi Monument, Soul of New Phyrexia

illumfolly, maybe I came across in harsh in saying that I didn't want to play Skullwinder but I still don't really appreciate the condescending tone. I have like two counterspells in the deck and don't care to add more because this is meant to be a downstep from my other EDH deck which plays upwards of 20 counterspells with a million ways to recur them and a million other midrangey control elements. My group gets frustrated when I play that on occasion so I picked something that's strong but has a very, very obvious hole in the strategy: wrath effects. Yes, I can make it a lot more wrath resilient, but it defeats part of the purpose of the deck. As it is with my group already, some of them already don't like playing against it already. So I'm trying to keep it a little more glass canon for now if that makes more sense about where I'm coming from.
