With the release of Huatli, the Sun's Heart , Assault Formation decks can be made more viable in standard. The idea of this deck is to drop cheap walls and high toughness creatures, and then using effects to make them punishing.

The main tools of this deck:

Huatli, the Sun's Heart - It can make your high toughness creatures actually playable and also net you 3-8 life in this deck if needed. Really good when facing an aggressive or burn type matchup.

Arcades, the Strategist - Another way to make your creatures good and it allows defenders to attack. Good to attack over creatures and dodges most removal.

High Alert - Basically Assault Formation but in different colours.

Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive - Makes all your creatures unblockable since they have 1 or less power. Playing her makes it so pesky token decks don't ruin your fun.
