I love the idea of Mass Appeal , I've always wanted to see it find a home! You might also want to add some Oblivion Ring s and Dungeon Geists or, my personal favorites, Downpour and Feeling of Dread ! For control ideas take a look at my deck Creature Control Anyone?, you might find some ideas you gusta.

I've done this in my GW Humans deck, deck:you-cant-block-this. Except I followed up an opponent's Mutilate with an card:Angel of Glory's Rise bringing back Fiend Hunter and exiling my angel. Of course it's an aggro deck so there's a bit of a difference.
As far as the deck I feel like you're on the border between 2 different deck styles. I see a good number of small, low cost creatures with the potential to have double strike. But with the exception of Champion of the Parish , nothing really to buff your other creatures. On the other hand I see a number of very good control cards with a bunch of creatures that don't support them.
Given how the deck looks right now, I'd take out Verdict, Reward, Jace, and Ajani and concentrate on making sure your double strike task force gets through.

Well how about I sideboard the verdict and reward.
-1 Elite Inquisitor +1card:Angel of Glory's Rise
-2Supreme Verdict +2Fiend Hunter
-2 card:Faith's Reward +2Oblivion Ring

That sounds like a good start, but I'd disagree with adding an card:Angel of Glory's Rise; she's just too expensive to have multiples of. Also, seeing how well Supreme Verdict and Fiend Hunter combo, don't take out Supreme Verdict but definitely add more Fiend Hunter s. I agree with more Oblivion Ring s and less card:Faith's Reward. You really need to remove Ajani, Caller of the Pride because he's currently just a "more winning" card and doesn't serve the actual strategy. A better option than Cyclonic Rift is Devastation Tide ; it smashes tokens, takes out any sly +1/+1 counters of theirs (I'm looking at you Golgari), handles all permanents (not just creatures), and, because humans are very rapid, let's you re-take the battlefield! You would also benefit hugely from Mentor of the Meek , especially when he works with Precinct Captain and, well, really any of your humans! One more thing you might like to add 1 or 2 of is Reliquary Tower ; it's faster than Tamiyo's emblem and it works well with Devastation Tide , Mass Appeal , card:Sphinx's Revelation, and Tamiyo's -2!

I wasn't adding a 2nd card:Angel of Glory's Rise that was the 1st. I was indicating the 5 cards I did swap. I agree I want to keep the Supreme Verdict s in. Not sure where to swap.
Ajani, Caller of the Pride is a win on his own. The flying double strike can be a brutal hit they're not ready for. I'd run 2 if I had a 2nd. Also, planeswalkers make good distractions.
I also like Cyclonic Rift over Devastation Tide . Both affect non-land permanents. Rift leaves my stuff alone and if I am having counters on my own creatures I'd prefer that. And it's only 2 more mana to overload it and get better results. Plus it's instant speed and has a lesser cast option too. Dropping Rift during their end step can force them to discard a lot of cards. I did that twice for the win last Sunday, sweeping 6 6/6 wurm tokens, 3 beast tokens, and a couple centaur tokens, 2nd time I rifted up about 10 creatures, 2 artifacts, 2 enchantments during their end step.
I'd love to add more Precinct Captain s and Fiend Hunter s and Mentor of the Meek could work, but I really don't see what I can take out for it. As it stands right now, I could drop card:Angel of Glory's Rise and card:Sphinx's Revelation for two Mentor of the Meek .
I don't know what to swap out if I want Supreme Verdict back in.
And I don't think I need Reliquary Tower . I'm running 4 caverns which is colorless already and I don't foresee getting huge hands I can't control.
I really like the suggestions and ideas. I'm excited to run this deck this FNM instead of my defender deck I ran the last 3 weeks.

To make way for Precinct Captain , Mentor of the Meek , and Fiend Hunter you could remove card:Angel of Glory's Rise, all of the Jace, Architect of Thought s. I was looking at the build and strategy and just now noticed that there are 3 Jaces, and I was like, "Damn, that's way too many Jaces!" I can see how great he is and all but, Jace doesn't contribute to the plan at all (except his +1 which isn't all that great) and he's taking up three spaces! So I recommend dropping the Jaces and Angels in place of 1 Precinct Captain , 1 Fiend Hunter , and 2 Mentor of the Meek . Also, have you ever considered a guy called Captain of the Mists ? He's a great controller and he works wonderfully with humans, not to mention his cheap casting cost! You could consider him instead of the Mentor of the Meek , because you already have a ton of draw card but your a little lacking in the creature-control area compared to the aggro and draw-cards.

Or I could drop 1 Lyev Skyknight and card:Sphinx's Revelation for 2 Mentor of the Meek OR 2 Supreme Verdict . Or one of each...man I dunno...let me look again at what I deem essential.
Essential
3x Mass Appeal
Non-essential
1x card:Angel of Glory's Rise
2x Fiend Hunter
1x card:Sphinx's Revelation
Not added, but I like as mainboard options
2x card:Faith's Reward

Jace is for the -2 card sifting. It's amazing. The +1 is good if I have to, but I'd rather -2 all day. And 3's a good number. If I have to play a Jace to kill my opponents Jace, that's worth it too.
Captain of the Mists could be a good pick over Feeling of Dread

I think may drop the 2 O-rings for 2 verdicts...with 2 fiend hunters and 2 detention spheres and 2 verdicts and 2 rifts....that's good removal.

not often do I find a deck on here that I really like.. but this is 1 of them. +1 man, and good building!
November 4, 2012 1:10 a.m.
i run similar except i only use 1 of each of those walkers and with 4 oblivion rings
November 4, 2012 2:02 a.m.
Rewind and Tamiyo, the Moon Sage 's emblem, Counter over and over and over
November 7, 2012 4:39 p.m.
I've never lost after getting an emblem out...not worried about what cards work well it :P Cyclonic Rift every turn works good enough
November 8, 2012 12:57 p.m.
What would be great with Tamiyo's emblem would be Sphinx of the Chimes discard these 2..oh I'll put them in my hand, draw 4. Oh I still have these 2...discard (keep), draw 4.
Think I'm going to make a Sphinx of the Chimes and Veilborn Ghoul zombie deck.
November 9, 2012 1:30 p.m.
wow. I really really like this deck. When i clicked my thought was "what? champion of the parish requires creatures, how does he possibly have enough leftover cardspace for control?" but it works very well. You seem to have everything worked out. I'm curious as to why the Precinct captains and nearheath pilgrim, I feel there are better cards then those. How have you faired vs a Grixis deck? Like, with all the burn, Dreadbore , etc?
November 10, 2012 10:23 p.m.
Thank you! Really appreciate the positive feedback.
I've faced a couple Grixis decks, but I wouldn't call them the best Grixis decks. But I've definitely faced board wipes and control - I generally am able to out-draw them and eventually they are out of cards. I am able to slow down those fast green or red aggro decks by using those Nearheath Pilgrim . He's a really strong human - bound with the Silverblade Palladin...swing for 8 and heal for 8. It's too good. Or commonly 2nd turn drop and pair with a Champion and then swing/heal for 2 with the Champ.
Precinct Captain is the last picked human, but he ends up working out well. I definitely like a first striker - and debated between the Captain or an Elite Inquisitor . I decided on the captain for the tokens. Double strike on him gives me 2 tokens and it makes him a good threat. I am still considering swapping for the Elites though. Also, first strike is helpful vs all the deathtouch or rancor'd creatures.

So, thinking over the various 1-2 drop humans blue/white has to offer....what about New Prahv Guildmage instead of Precinct Captain ? Or maybe sideboard one of the Supreme Verdict s and mainboard 2, drop a Mass Appeal and just add 2 guildmages.
I'll have to ponder this. He could be good, he's still a 2/2, can give flying, and can detain nonland permanents (plainswalkers).
November 12, 2012 3:32 a.m.
When i had my humans deck, the guildmage did nothing. I never cast his abilities because i just had more guys i'd rather put on the field instead. But since mine was an aggro deck and this is more control, it could be different. Late game spam detain could prove to be really good.
November 12, 2012 6:16 p.m.
I decided not to mainboard card:Angel of Glory's Rise and took out Fiend Hunter s altogether. The Angel is great in this deck, but I'd rather run something a bit cheaper and I took out all but 1 Supreme Verdict mainboard. So using Terminus instead, I won't be killing my creatures and can't return them with the angel. If I bring in my verdicts, or my opponent uses board wipes or zombies, then I can throw in the angel. I took out Fiend Hunters because I found if I did manage to exile their creature, it came back. Either they'd kill it or I'd board wipe and they'd get it back. Either way, rather run other control or other humans.
I acquired a 3rd Tamiyo, the Moon Sage and was trying to figure out if I should try to fit it in. 3 Jace's has been good, but he's cheaper and dies easier. I love Tamiyo and hate when I don't have one out. If my opponent runs Tamiyo it's a good way to kill it too. I was thinking I could take out Ajani...but he really had done good for the deck. If the 1/1 counters aren't good enough, the double strike/flying does win games.

I agree, the angel of glory rise is a great combo, board wipe with fiend hunter (other great combos with using your own creatures!) for kessig malcontent and vigilante's justice in a boros. If anything it's just fun. :)
