Before I clicked, I just saw the title because I subscribe to you it just said you had created this deck.

Wouldn't Nykthos be helpful?

It's good for casual play I wound not take it to FNM, it would be a slaughter show on you. creatures are to weak with no big pay off. you need bigger and badder creatures or it's going to be a quick take down for your opponent

I will also agree with ChiefBell that Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx would be a great addition to this deck as it can very quickly let you dump your hand onto the field.

The problem is that Nykthos is $9, and this is a budget deck. I don't want to be splashing $20 or more on lands.

I'd love to see an FNMers face after getting hulksmashed by this! Green is my fav.

May I suggest Ranger's Guile or Mortal's Resolve ? They seem decent but I dont play standard.

Mending Touch would be a good card to sideboard against the control decks.

Mono green has been a thing since devotion showed up

Obviously you must choose between Charging Badger or Sedge Scorpion as a one drop. Anything less just will not do.

Lol

Would work better with Nykthos...
Although I completely understand the principle of budget standard!

AND you run Aspect of Hydra ! Brilliant!

I do agree that Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx would be too good not to run in this deck, but I understand the budget limitations. Have you thought about cutting one Nylea? Three seems a little excessive. I love this deck though, +1. MONO GREEEEEEEEEEEN

KrosanTusker Of course I run Aspect of Hydra ! It's a Giant Growth on steroids and crack at the same time! In playtesting I've managed to get my devotion up to 10 or 11, meaning that for 1 mana, get enough buffs to take out over half of my opponent's life total (or kill a blocking Worldspine Wurm ).

Epicbatman Thanks for the upvote. Nylea's a difficult inclusion for me because, although this is a budget deck and I'd like to keep it as cheap as possible, at the same time I feel that she really is necessary. The trample for all of my guys is so powerful as otherwise my 8/8 Reverent Hunter can easily be chump blocked, or my Aspect of Hydra buffs may be wasted. She also works well with Pit Fight as she will almost always win and come out unscathed, and she can be a mana sink in the late game. I feel that 3 is the right amount.

I suggest you Karametra's Acolyte . It's a budget card and when you play it, next turn you can play whole hand. Karametra's Acolyte works with Nylea too. I would take 4 Swordwise Centaur s out and put 4 Karametra's Acolyte s in. Bow of Nylea would be just great in this deck. When you have nylea and her bow same time on battleground, you have "unbeatable" trample, deathtouch combination. :).

Great cards in sideboard:

Mending Touch againist black decks

Ranger's Guile againist control

Nylea's Disciple againist aggro

Arbor Colossus againist annoying Nightveil Specter , Desecration Demon ...

Sylvan Primordial againist control (planeswalkers) :P

Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx plus Scavenging Ooze is great. For advice, i'd put the Plummet in and take a few Elvish Mystic out.

threeboredboys Cheers for the +1. However, I wouldn't agree with your advice. First of all, Plummet is too narrow to mainboard. Against most decks, it won't really do much. Secondly, Elvish Mystic is one of the best cards in the deck. It enables T2 Burning-Tree Emissary into Courser of Kruphix , then a T3 Nylea, God of the Hunt or Polukranos, World Eater . It's too good to remove.

Why not just splash red for Domri Rade and Flesh//Blood ? All you would have to add is Stomping Ground and Temple of Abandon . The longevity that Domri supplies through card draw and removal just makes him too good for any green deck. Flesh//Blood just allows you to go over the top and shoot your opponent for 9 randomly and is much better than Pit Fight for removal.

I want to keep this mono-green for a couple of reasons:

1) The land base is far less expensive.

2) I want the deck to be my own deck. If I splash red, I may as well be running R/G monsters, and that isn't my own deck.

I agree that splashing red would probably make the deck better, but mono-green is more fun.

Nice deck, definitely getting a +1 from me. As for your sideboard, I'm not sure if I agree with the Nylea's Disciple , if your looking for life gain against burn decks, I feel like Staff of the Wild Magus will give you a more consistent lifegain, especially with Courser of Kruphix .

I also think you should definitely add in Arbor Colossus into your sideboard, maybe in place of Skylasher . Skylasher is nice for a chump block to me and that's pretty much it. If you'll need to block flying creatures more consistently, Arbor Colossus is the way to go. It is a 5 drop, but you should be able to easily circumvent that with all the ramp that's in your deck.

Thanks for the +1. For life gain in the sideboard, I feel that Nylea's Disciple is the right choice. On turn 3, I can easily gain upwards of 6 life and I get a decent body to attack or block with. Staff of the Wild Magus is just generally a terrible card. It doesn't contribute towards my game plan in the slightest, it doesn't provide devotion and will probably only gain me 4 or 5 life over a long time, which is too slow to stop aggro. However, I may consider Arbor Colossus for the sideboard. He seems like he may be a good addition.

I've had success with a similar deck, but the lynch-pin is the Kalonian Hydra . With all the +1/+1 counters you're going to have on your critters, doubling them every turn is nothing short of absurd and it comes with trample to boot. The combo that usually wins for me is playing Kalonian Hydra on one turn and then dumping all my mana next turn into an uber Mistcutter Hydra on the next turn.

And if you can afford it Garruk, Caller of Beasts is an excellent addition. The more creatures you have in your hand, the more you can throw down, which means you can Nykthos for more mana on the next turn, repeat. The main downside to using Garruk's +1 is that you can wind up putting your Nykthos to the bottom of your library.

Although those are both good suggestions, this is an aggro deck, and so will struggle to use a 5-drop that doesn't affect board state until the turn after or a 6-drop.

I'd say -2 Savage Summoning +2 Mistcutter Hydra . Mistcutter's your best creature against control, so it'd be better just to play more of those than get gimmicky with your other ones that can die easily.
