BigBoyBeau I love that there are 51 creatures in that list for a massive amount of Edgar triggers, but your land count seems too low for me with almost no ramp, not really any utility lands either, and your removal package as well as your unconditional card draw crazy low.

If you're playing a lot of 1v1 it might run ok, but in a 4+ player game you're going to run into a lot of problems. Really aggro strategies struggle in multiplayer games.

I might add 2 or 3 lands and the signets (Boros, Rakdos, Orzhov) just for the fixing alone, and you need some more removal in there, even if it's just artifact/permanent removal and I would absolutely get in more unconditional card draw.

Another one of the great things about Edgar is how well he rebounds from board wipes, so clearing the board isn't really a downside in my build. But like I said, my deck is tuned for multiplayer games.

Either way it looks like a really fun build!

usaDiabetic I've updated the description. 30-35 lands is as trim as it can go, haha!

It is true that once there are more than 3 opponents this kind of strategy faces greater opposition. I've played most often with 1-4 opponents but 4, 5, or more opponents would be trouble!

To be fair to the deck, the card draw of Herald's Horn, Skullclamp, The Immortal Sun, Vanquisher's Banner, Asylum Visitor, Champion of Dusk, Dusk Legion Zealot, Forerunner of the Legion, Twilight Prophet, Dark Prophecy, Necropotence, Phyrexian Arena and reanimation of Victimize, Patriarch's Bidding, Living Death, Bloodline Necromancer help sustain after board wipes.

Enough creatures have excellent effects as well to benefit from being knocked out including Kheru Bloodsucker, Paladin of Atonement, Elenda, the Dusk Rose, Kalastria Highborn, Pawn of Ulamog, Voldaren Pariah  Flip, Bloodghast, Oathsworn Vampire, Viscera Seer, Blood Artist, and Falkenrath Noble.

And for disruption/removal there's New Blood, The Immortal Sun, Voldaren Pariah  Flip, Vampire Hexmage, Thief of Blood, Patron of the Vein, Captivating Vampire, Bloodhusk Ritualist, Gatekeeper of Malakir, Guul Draz Assassin, and Bishop of Binding.

I'm open to suggestion though. Any other removal options you might recommend?

My only issue is a lot(not all) of that card draw is conditional, you need to cast a vamp, need a amp on top, have a creature die, ect. and Forerunner isn't really card draw. Also with Banner and the Sun at 5-6 CMC I would prefer to also have stuff like Read the Bones, Night's Whisper, Ambition's Cost, ect.

I love having access to "just get rid of it" cards like Anguished Unmaking, Swords to Plowshares, Utter End, Vandalblast ect.

Like I said your build looks really fun, I would just sure up some stuff like lands so you cant cast your big impact stuff, have access to more utility like Field of Ruin, Ghost Quarter Detection Towerect. and even just for fixing.

It's always good to have acess to good cheap unconditional card draw and a few emergency button removal spells.

oh I also like having utility sweepers like Merciless Eviction, Austere Command, and Cleansing Nova for the times you get behind (its possible, even with Edgar, not likely, but definitely possible).

usaDiabetic Those sweepers are fun, I think Merciless Eviction is my favorite! Have you thought of running Living Death as a sweeper as well?

Living death is an awesome sweeper and super fun card, I run it in my Alesha deck.

Let me start this off by saying I love the idea of this deck. Going all in on black white vampires with a three color commander is a unique and fun idea. Looking at this deck I see cards I had not considered before that I now intend to add to my build of Edgar. As for criticisms, there is nothing I can say that usaDiabetic hasn’t said. Nonetheless, I wish you fun games and aggresive plays with this deck.

I recommend maybe finding space for Necropolis Regent, Blade of the Bloodchief, or Vault of the Archangel to give your hordes of vampires opportunities for explosive counter gaining, while also attaining pretty good utility such as first strike, lifelink, or deathtouch

Oops, forgot to add in Stensia Masquerade in my comment

Came here from your comment on The Partnership.

I really like Patriarch's Bidding in here! I may actually add that to my version.

You are missing one of the best vampires, Falkenrath Noble. It is also a sacrifice outlet and indestructible as long as you generate tokens, like Yahenni. I would alson include Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief in place of one lesser vampire.

You have not included any Planewalker; Sorin, Solemn Visitor and Sorin, Lord of Innistrad would both work great with your creature-focused theme.

How have you fared so far off only 31 lands? I know your curve is low, but that seems risky to me; I would bring that to at least.

Unless you are mainly playing duels, you don't really need a Sol ring in there; it could be a dead card mid game. Legion's landing has not been great for me, I think I may cut it for my update.

Hope this helps!

Oops, typo in my comment; I of course meant Falkenrath Aristocrat

Look into running Reconnaissance, it's so good here it feels busted. It allows you to attack with everyone (yeah, even that 0/2, why not), deal combat damage in most situations (other than the 'fair' use listed below), and have every one of those creatures untapped and ready to block (or tap to steal stuff with Captivating Vampire etc.)

It untaps to avoid bad blocks, and this is the face value fair use.

It also untaps after first strike damage but before normal combat damage. Busted with Stromkrk Captain and a good way to get counters from Drana to your whole team.

It even untaps after normal combat damage has been dealt due to the creature still being counted as an attacking creature until the end of the end of combat stage (You untap in the middle of the end of combat stage).

Anyways, good luck and here's a link to my list Edgar's Dega Vampires

Sweet recommendation Last_Laugh! I've brought in Reconnaissance and Stensia Masquerade in place of Sol Ring and New Blood. Although they do require red and white color mana, they are cheap to play and are better for the aggressive creatures focus of the deck.

As for Falkenrath Aristocrat, I haven't decided yet what to substitute her in for, but I'd like to include her. Let me know what she could replace.

I have tried Sorin Planeswalkers before and they are awesome Heliogabale. Because they are not vampire creatures they are too slow for my preferences with this deck.

Regarding card draw, I highly prefer the conditional repetitive card draw opportunities over single use draw spells. Each single use draw spell (Night's Whisper, Read the Bones, Promise of Power, Moonlight Bargain) causes problems for this deck because it's only time use. Slate of Ancestry, Dark Prophecy, Necropotence, Phyrexian Arena, Dark Tutelage, Vanquisher's Banner, and Herald's Horn can provide dozens of cards over several turns. That way if the vampires get killed or you empty your hand you get enough draw to keep going strong.

Regarding removal, Hyper Markov is not a control deck. Hyper Markov doesn't care what your opponents play in their first 5 turns. The wager is that this horde of vampires will be more aggressive and fun than anything the opponents bring out. The focus here is exclusively on consistent creature aggression and aristocrat strategies. That's why you won't see removal instants in this deck. Although some control cards would shut this down; Speed, Repetition, and Sympathetic Players are your Allies. This aggressive style makes for a different experience than the usual. It's a blast for you and a fun surprise for your opponents.

Hi I like your deck, but I preferred this kind of build in 1x1 games. A pity he is now banned. I think you deck needs mass removal and ramp. +1

Several people have rightly commented about an online 1v1 Commander ban of Edgar Markov. This Hyper Markov deck is created for casual commander with 2-6 players and I've never played it online. We play this on paper with friends or at Magic venues.

May be good for casual play with your friends but I come from another school of Markov, due to my meta and players around here I run about 30 vamps or so all there for a reason about 35 lands about 90% similar to the nosferatu deck, and I have to run (due to my meta) a good amount of removal/spot removal I see many cards in your maybe board that should be main deck and vice versa but I like the idea tho just wouldn’t hold up with what I play against and I don’t see many if any ways to stop ppl from hitting a combo of some sort or taking a way a piece of a part of someone’s deck

And it’s not like I copied the other nosferatu list I came across that well after I pieced my deck together but did get a few pointers from that deck to add to mine, but vamp decks really rely on sheer speed rather then inf combos and certain tools to make the deck work so you just need to find a happy medium with speed and what you’re trying to do which is why I think my landmass ended up almost mirroring the Nos deck because I feel that a line up like that gives you the most out of speed from your vamps

I dislike Coat of Arms as it buffs up any other tribal synergies your opponents have, try using Vanquishers Banner cause that also gives card draw which your deck lacks

How about Radiant Destiny over Coat of Arms? This gets around pumping someone else's deck as well.

OP_Sigma, I just tried this updated list out and had a quick win in 4 player versus other casual commander decks. So glad they've printed more low cost vampires in Modern Horizons and M20! Which new vampire cards are your favorites?
