cool, its a creature and works with the deck, but what should I swap it in for?

Nicol is uncastable. No source of black, let alone 2 sources.
You need more mana.
Drop Axebane Guardian, he's only really useful if running a lot of defenders.
Sylvan Primordial destroys lands and is a nice body.
You need some more mana-ramp for your own deck. Farseek /Ranger's Path

axebane gives the mana for bolas, plus I was thinking that for 3 mana hes a 0/3 that gives 1 plus if you have two out thats 4 man, 3 is 9, and 4 is 16, but I see the nicol thing he costs too much anyway so ill swap it in for the primordial.

I think that the axebanes are a bit underwhelming since you don't have any other defenders. You might be able to do better with Farseek or Elvish Mystic .

you might also want to consider splashing in blue for Goblin Electromancer to help with casting those expensive spells, and that would also leave you open to use cards like Ral Zarek for even more ramp + resource denial. There is also much more opportunities for card draw that way.

you might also want to consider things like Ghost Quarter or Tectonic Edge and Encroaching Wastes . The wastes may look bad at first, but it has no restrictions on how many lands the other person controls to use it. These also happen at instant speed.

okay swapped in verdant haven instead of the guardian, I dont think I want to add blue because it throws all of my plans into chaos, I mean I have a tamiyo too and that taps the land they get out and Ral, and electromancer, and archeomancer, everything just gets too complicated

He's seems to be sticking to Standard so Ghost Quarter is only good until september and I personally am not fond of the Rummaging Goblin or Infernal Plunge My Idea:

-2 Rummaging Goblin +2 Acidic Slime

-2 Infernal Plunge +2 Mizzium Mortars

CW says... #8

I like to get rid of the first 2 land before they get anything usable out so pitching some goblins to the plunge helps, and I hate getting flooded with mana so the rummaging goblins are staying, Ill do the -2 plunge for the mortars though

NeoCowboy says... #9

Alright i like the idea of discarding the Land for that then those arent so bad after all

July 22, 2013 5:46 p.m.

CW says... #10

Yeah I kind of want to get rid of some of the farseeks though, Frenzied tilling, verdant haven, and arbor elf all speed up my mana.

also what do you guys think about Chandra, the Firebrand her -2 seems good here

July 22, 2013 5:50 p.m.

NeoCowboy says... #11

She seems pretty good, same with Reverberate lol this deck is mostly red anyway so RR cost shouldn't effect it

July 22, 2013 6:05 p.m.

CW says... #12

well Im thinking about just dropping the goblin base entirely, I didnt know about all of these land hating creatures, and I want to throw more primordial in but Im worried about the high costs, i mean im at 17 4 and over spells counting the mortars already

July 22, 2013 6:08 p.m.

CW says... #13

Nevermind im liking the deck as is, so now I just need suggestions for the sideboard

July 22, 2013 6:21 p.m.

NeoCowboy says... #14

Only thing I can say about the sideboard is test out your deck and find out it's strengths and weaknesses.

July 22, 2013 7:59 p.m.

CW says... #15

Charmbreaker devils kick ass, especially if all I have are land destruction spells in the grave, also the burning tree dual casting combo looks good, I think that its a good deck overall, I can't think of anything that would help in the sideboard.

July 23, 2013 3:22 p.m.

NeoCowboy says... #16

Then just put cards in a side board that you think you could use more of.

Lol just saw this...

Those Maze's End decks are NOT gonna be happy about this

July 24, 2013 12:58 a.m.

CW says... #18

Hah, I'd say the printing of Burning Earth rendered Maze's End obsolete.

July 24, 2013 2:03 a.m.

senken12 says... #19

Not obsolete if they have Crackling Perimeter !

July 24, 2013 4:42 a.m.

CW says... #20

I dont think that a little burn will keep them alive when the opponent has all of his mana open for whatever he needs.

really like the concept of this deck, +1

thanks, hoping that theros will slow down the metagame enough so that this deck will be effective

Hi! I got a pretty similar idea: No Man's Land. However my follow-up to land destruction is more midrange-ish.

I second what Ruric says. Also you could consider running a few Strionic Resonator to copy the triggered ability of Ember Swallower . Let me know how this turns out!
