I Dropped My Branding Iron

Commander / EDH Casual RBW (Mardu)

RedArchon

Maybeboard

Updated 9-3-17 with physical contents of deck.

The aim of the deck is just playing regular commander politics, while trying to keep things under control that opponents might draw off Mathas or in general. I didn't go for anything flashy or over-powered to stay on "friendly" terms with opponents. Some scary looking cards maybe, but nothing saying "OM#G KILL HIM NAO!". :D

Figure I'd lighten this up with some info. Beyond using removal for deal making, there are some cards I feel might need a little more of a blurb to describe their potential use. So, here we go:

Arcane Lighthouse isn't just good for this deck, it can be good for making deals against voltron generals and general problems.

Archon of Justice is a nice card to deter attacks, but also easy to recur, and Mardu is better at recurring creatures than other kind of spells (unless you go wholly into spells-matter-casting).

Basandra, Battle Seraph might generally be frowned upon, but it again is another card you can leverage in a deal with someone else, or just for you to get something out of the way, or protect yourself against some strategies like akido effects or removal.

Bloodgift Demon can give target player a card, thereby bribing them into perhaps not attacking you, or helping you play 'hug' with someone. Also, just card draw. This card is funny if for some reason you will lose on the draws step just before someone else who would lose on the draw step from a mill deck. Yes it happened. It was hilarious.

Brutal Hordechief can force blocks to help clear a path for you or again to play politics. Also, it's life draining ability isn't to be forgotten and repeatable, small effects can go by unnoticed.

Chaos Warp is a sub par removal spell when access to White and Black are available, but maybe playing a 'soft' removal helps people not feel as bad about you. Same with Divergent Transformations.

Hunted Dragon has been surprisingly useful, and in general it's nothing most decks can't handle, but care to who you hand those knights to.

Kambal, Consul of Allocation is a counter measure to Mathas' effect, where most spells played will drain for 2 life, nullifying Mathas' effect for the most part. Again, small effecs go by generally unnoticed.

Mistveil Plains is more of a ghost threat than anything real, but putting spells you can't get back into the deck can help a bit.

Order / Chaos is combat greatness. Remove a creature that threatens you, or a player. Play it up with someone else, and let them work for you.

Torment of Hailfire at even 3BB can deal real setbacks to opponents. This one is less about politics (unless you then pick a favorite to help recover) and more about getting ahead. However, the bounty counters may play an important role in how people feel about stuff.

Viashino Heretic, because the deck really hates when people wear shoes (Lightning Greaves and Swiftfoot Boots), and general shiny things that bring death.

Xathrid Gorgon I find hilarious. No, it doesn't kill a creature, but again, you can leverage this for some political gain, and it's a less feel bad moment for most people, keeping you from becoming the archenemy.

Updates Add

After a few games, something don't work quite how I intended.

Disrupt Decorum is a nifty card, but without much backup.

Likewise, No Mercy and Merciless Eviction have seen little effect in the deal making politics matter area of the deck. Specifically, Merciless Eviction set me back too far to continue politics without creatures if I get stuck in that scenario.

Likely, another for of recursion and a few more board wipes will be included.

Blasphemous Act, Wrath of God, Fumigate, and Unburial Rites will be put in at a alter time.
