@jedrzejmk You know, I actually never thought of him, but what should I remove/exchange for Experiment One ?
January 10, 2014 12:40 a.m.
Maybe Elvish Mystic s? You have no true 3 drops to play on second turn. Also I know Rubblebelt Raiders are awesome devotion but all you really need are Burning-Tree Emissary which you already have. Would switch them for Ghor-Clan Rampager to have that great aggro combo with Scavenging Ooze (2nd turn ooze, 3rd turn attack with ooze, bloodrush it with ghor-clan and exile it from graveyard before dealing damage striking for 7 with trample). Would even add one more Ooze but I understand you don't want to spend any more money. With removal of 4 elves would add 2 lands removing Hammer of Purphoros cause it just does not fit with the idea of the deck.

actually, the hammer helps the slow, but huge, hydras to start wrecking the opponents field, and as of the elves, it is a maybe option, as the trick with this deck is get things running fast, and they are excellent for that, and I love having raiders in the deck. The rate it gets bigger can make some hydras look shameful, and hello, 3 red OR green devotion! Also, only have 2 ghor-clans, and I do have a 3rd ooze on standby. Plus, the way it is now, as I recently got new cards for my deck, including another mistcutter and will update the deck online, goes 2-2 at fnm (either bad plays by my part or being mana-screwed), and it is fun to play! But I do appreciate the thoughts. tonight that hammer won me some rounds (hasted savageborn with hasted kalonian hydra... shit went south for that guy tonight...) But I do see i maybe need more lands in the deck.

Indeed, I see your point but more lands are needed desperately :P

yesterday on one round of fnm I was mana-screwed, so I see ur point. so, what lands (mountains or forest, as that game I needed red to do anything, and got it when the my last turn before death) do u say I need, and what really should go out of the deck?

You might want to take out some of your creatures like the rubblebelt raiders and add some more land

I really don't want to lose the raiders as they are one of the better cards in the deck, and everyone seems to give it crap (i.e. calling it bad and similar things) when it really isn't, and I don't know what other cards should be removed. I was thinking of just adding 2 Mountains to the deck, though it would bring the deck to 64 cards, that may be a better thing than to lose some of my aggression in the deck. What do u think on this?

Yeah that might be better because i playtested it and it was fine on mana so just maybe add 2 mountains and see how it works if it doesn't consider removing at least one of the raiders

I agree with that test play, and I probably be ok with 1 less raider if needed.

Actually Rubblebelt Raiders do work great with Kalonian Hydra .

Definitely would put some Burning-Tree Emissary in there. I won't tell you what to cut, but a creature that produces mana when it comes into play makes for shenanigans. I've seen three of them dropped on turn 2, using the mana from the triggers to cast the next one. Shenanigans are fun.

a few people who looked at the deck at my local store who play fnm, and helped me start the deck, told me I really didn't need it in this build, and it was in here, but often ran into, like 5-10 times, moments of when i did not use its mana at all.

I would either take out rubbelbelt or bow of nyela.

Ruric Thar, the Unbowed in the board for control matchups?

I just recently got a copy of Ruric Thar. I was thinking to replace Witchstalker with 2 rurics, and the 3rd with a Xenagos, The Reveler i got in the same trade i got ruric in. u think that will work?

I would go with Unravel the Aether over Fade into Antiquity in the sideboard. Its cheaper and shuffling into the library can be detrimental to potential scrying. Mizzium Mortars is grade-A removal that takes out most major threats in standard. Aside from that, great deck and good luck with your endeavors!

once i get a few unravels, I'll replace the fades, and i don't have any mizziums (a friend borrowed some and lost that deck of his), and don't know what i take out for them.

Kinda have to rely on trades to get most of my cards for the time being, and no one wants to trade for those. Also, the only card people would say to take out is Kalonian Hydra, and I like him in here. I also think the dragon is over hyped.

Ditch those Clan Defiance and Bow of Nylea right now. Add in some more Fanatic of Xenagos or Stormbreath Dragon

TheXHeroJ0013 says... #23
@OpenFire; First, Clan Defiance is one of my main mana sinks and can win games or remove my opponents creatures if mine can't. The bow actually helps more than people think it does. It is the almost all-purpose tool for the deck (only control seems to be the matchup it doesn't do shit for me).Second, I am trying to get rid of the Fanatic of Xenagos s as it just doesn't do what I need it to do. The Stormbreath Dragon s on the other hand, just read my comment above, and know at my lgs they are $20 a pop, and that is just way too much for me at the moment.

How about ye good olde Experiment One ? Seems like stellar card for this deck.
