McMeatball22 - haha, I explained that right at the top! I play this deck on Magic Online, where it only costs around 30$ at the moment. Don't worry, I'm not spending 2000$ on casual decks :P

I like the deck, specially because you change a handfull of lands and its perfectly affordable, and I love how tapped out is saying workshop is 999 dollars right now (at the time of this posting, checked it should only be 549 lol)

Still a kewl looking deck +1

Very cool deck +1. Btw is Bean a reference to the Ender's Shadow Series?

+1! Greate deck!

How about Forcefield?

Why is this listed under budget?

Lilbrudder says... #13

He explains why in the description. It is a magic online deck and card prices are very different online

Heyy y'all thanks for the upvotes!

Leeroy_McNorris - exactly what Lilbrudder said; the deck is currently around 32$ online.

Matrixxx999 - thanks! Forcefield looks awesome, I totally forgot about that one. I'll try it out for sure :)

Lilbrudder - yeah, bean is at least somewhat a reference to the Ender series :) the whole series is great (I think Speaker for the Dead is my favorite) and I loved Bean. There are also a few other reasons Bean works for me, though ;)

Also guys, it only is a 300-400$ deck. the land base is 2000$ roughly, and 1800$ of it is 2 of them

Is Dread or No Mercy out of budget?

November 2, 2016 4:53 p.m.

-Bean- says... #17

venok - Dread is like 0.01tix online, so it's not a problem, but I don't really like the card that much... It's just too easy to remove and too expensive for what it does, and if it gets killed it doesn't really get me any value. I do like No Mercy and I'll probably try it out soon.. it's around 1.65 online right now, not too bad.

Malfegor would fit in well, I think.

Torpor Orb likely wants to make its home here. Not sure how bugget that is on MTGO but its only like 2.00 IRL so I don't think its ticket price can be that high.

Quicksilver Amulet may help you put down Ulamog, Darksteel Collosus, or even Butcher of Truth (if you were to play these cards as well) more quickly!?!

This is really appealing but definitely not budget friendly. For those of us that can't afford stuff like Bazaar of Baghdad and Forcefield are there any budget substitutions?

Okay, replying to some old-ish comments because I can.

illumfolly and sjsilver - those are some good suggestions that I will try out, thanks!

CrazyGood-MTG9797 - whoa, that's a lot of changes! Honestly, dropping huge creatures is really not what this deck is about! This deck is super slow and grindy and a turn-4 Darksteel Colossus just isn't something I'm looking to do. The more high-CMC cards I play, the worse cards like Ghirapur Orrery get, since it's harder to empty my hand. It's also pretty easy for me to find a way to win once I've taken control in this deck, so additional win-condition creatures aren't really needed.

ayaeger - yeah, I've been trying to figure that out myself.. Basically, cards like Bazaar of Baghdad and Forcefield are so unique and powerful that there aren't really any budget "replacements" for them. If you're looking to build this deck on a budget, you can sub in any other sort of cards that support the deck; cards like Smoke, Mystifying Maze, Spine of Ish Sah, anything from the sideboard. You could go deeper on artifacts by playing things like Urza's Blueprints and Unwinding Clock to draw extra cards instead of Bazaar of Baghdad + Uba Mask. Things like Winter Orb might be interesting, too, depending on your playgroup. Just look to slow down the game and draw a bunch of cards!

Perhaps put Polluted Bonds in?

January 11, 2017 3:21 p.m.

-Bean- says... #24

Spudding - I generally like cards like Subversion over things like Polluted Bonds, since the former seems like I'm just doing my own thing, while the latter seems like I'm punishing opponents for doing theirs. I will try a few rounds with Polluted Bonds back in, though.

please remove this from "budget" you have some outrageously expensive cards. To even consider putting this in "budget" is bullshit, you have cards that are $50+ that isn't budget in the least sense of the word.
