Just a simple, budget version of hatebears for the groups of people that can't afford a playset of
noble heirarch
or a copy of Linvala, Keeper of Silence. Since we have our good friend Leonin Arbiter in the deck, we won't need to waste our precious money buying fetchlands.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
CREATURES:
Avacyn's Pilgrim: The budget
noble heirarch
.
Dryad Militant: No snapcasting around here, boys. Plus, a 2/1 for 1 CMC puts a little pressure on the board early. Not a lot, but every bit of it counts.
Grand Abolisher: Good against control and such.
Hushwing Gryff: Pretty much a Torpor Orb on a stick with wings.
Leonin Arbiter: Mr. All Star himself. Prevents people from using fetchlands, slows down Pod just a bit, etc.
Loxodon Smiter: Yes, make me discard a card with your Liliana of the Veil. Please, for the love of God.
Mirran Crusader
: Good against Jund and any deck that thinks they can't hit you with a Scavenging Ooze. HA, you fools.
Qasali Pridemage: Good against affinity and any of those weird Slippery Bogle decks.
Scavenging Ooze: Shuts down any graveyard strategies.
Thalia, Guardian of Thraben: Not much into interspecies relationships but this lovely lady is Leonin Arbiter's wife. Where Leonin Arbiter shuts down any deck searches, this pretty young thing shuts down any shenanigans your opponent might pull on the battlefield.
Thrun, the Last Troll: The Troll of the Troll Decks. Need I explain more?
INSTANT:
Path to Exile: Best removal spell in Modern, imo.
ENCHANTMENT:
Suppression Field: Just shuts down your opponent early which is good. Only con is that it shuts you down as well.
LAND:
Ghost Quarter and Tectonic Edge: Destroys your opponents lands and combos off with Leonin Arbiter to really put your opponent in a bad position.
