This is a wonderful brew of mine with
Soulflayer
I've tried my hand at him before but never succeeded until now. I didn't bother going over a description until I figured out the deck in a real- ish tournament, so here it goes!
A match made in Heaven:
Soulflayer
+ Chromanticore. What more can I say about a 4/4 with Flying, First Strike, Vigilance, Trample, and Lifelink? Oh yeah, it can be done on turn 3. WITH either OR both indestructible/hexproof.
Everything that can be delved away for good stuff:
Hexproof:
Sagu Mauler
Silumgar, the Drifting Death
Sylvan Caryatid. All good things even without being delved.
Indestructible: Pharika, God of Affliction and Erebos, God of the Dead. Card draw, board presence, graveyard hate? All great things.
Sidisi, Undead Vizier is a big bomb, cast, exploit, delve it away. Win, win, win.
The extra stuff that helps:
Sidisi, Brood Tyrant is a 2 of, I'd love 3 but yeah. It's an amazing threat that needs to be dealt with. It won me 2 games. It also feeds my delve, woo.
Monastery Siege is just freaking amazing and needs to be played more. It was an all-star for me. It let me keep hands with Chromanticore in it.
Commune with the Gods and Satyr Wayfinder are the staple graveyard fillers.
Removal: Hero's Downfall Murderous Cut Sultai Charm, pretty straight forward stuff.
Now it's time for the sideboard, which I'm not the best at.
Bile Blight for tokens and creature heavy decks with low attack/toughness.
Crux of Fate
is a one of board wipe for any creature decks like Abzan midrange or r/g devotion.
Despise
and Duress for combo decks, creature decks, and control matchups.
Display of Dominance
hurts b/u control and other black/blue oriented decks.
Self-Inflicted Wound for the green matchup.
Ultimate Price for the mono creature decks instead of Murderous Cut.
I ended up sideboarding in Ultimate Price Self-Inflicted Wound Drown in Sorrow Duress and Bile Blight throughout FNM.
