Haha, thanks TheQuiverer, it means a lot to hear someone enjoys the deck so much. It's one of my favorite decks to play by far, and every game is exciting with it!

Villainous Wealth is a very solid suggestion. Aside from being in my off color (which if I'm actually casting, is irrelevant), the only problem I have with him is the lack of consistency. All of my other win conditions synergize more than just "As a win-con". I run Genesis Wave over Wealth because I'd rather hit my permanents, which synergize with the the deck, than an opponents which may not. Another consideration is that I'm fine with Genesis Waveing for X=5 in a pinch, whereas a Villainous Wealth for X=5 is just a desperate play that you never want to do. Plus, in the niche scenario where I don't have chromatic mana, Overgrown Battlement can cast Genesis Wave by himself :)

Thanks for the comment and the upvote!

+1 id tweak the numbers of a few cards in here

What would you tweak, shadow63?

I'm going through some rigorous playtesting currently, and I'm definitely thinking I'd like another Genesis Wave. I'm most interested in what you would take out, to accommodate anything you wanted more of.

Thanks for the +1!

Sanctum Plowbeast and Drift of Phantasms

Interesting choice. If you make this deck with those changes, let me know how that works for you!

I think Drift of Phantasms is amazing, since he tutors for basically everything in our deck, especially Genesis Wave or Sphinx's Revelation

Yep. Anything with an X cost is assumed for CMC purposes that X=0 ;)

Have you seen my deck THE SOURCE WALL (Updated for DTK)? Basically does something similar in a competitive build.

Also Assault Formation seems like it could be valuable here. :)

Thanks UrbanAnathema! I've seen the spoiled Assault Formation, and I agree it could be a valuable asset for the deck. I mean, it was made for this archetype! However, I'm not entirely sure what I would take out for it. Do you have any ideas?

In the meantime, this deck functions incredibly well as a control deck, and with all the ramp, I typically take over a game on or before turn 7 :) I'm also trying to find a way to fit a second Genesis Wave in here, because I'm extremely happy just casting it as an accelerant for X = 5.

I'll definitely give your deck a look to see if I can take any ideas away from it. Thanks for the comment! :)

I would prob remove a land and Curse of the Swine since its likely a better win-con for you. With as much ramp as you have, you don't need to run quite as much land. You might want to consider a few Birds of Paradise to accelerate things for you a bit as well. Landing your Axebane on T2 is really nice.

Well, my justification for Curse of the Swine is to turn anything that can overcome my wall into something that can't overcome it. You're probably right with the land though. But having so many scry lands sets it up so that I won't draw what I don't want, haha.

I'm verrrry hesitant on Birds of Paradise. It's a fine card, but with all my tap lands, and defender-based multipliers, it just seems like a sore thumb :P

I'm thinking Ludevic's Test Subject  Flip is a little sub-par, and could be dropped for the Genesis Wave, while a land could get ditched for an Assault Formation (Because, while it's good, I don't want to ever draw a second one.)

Looking at your deck (Congrats on 300+ votes by the way!) makes me want Pact of Negation a bit. A case could definitely be made for replacing Dissolve with it, since in my early turns, I reeeally like tapping out to develop my board, and in later turns, it's nice to be able to put everything into Sphinx's Revelation or Genesis Wave.

Yeah, because you are more control focused, Birds may not be as worthwhile for you. Since I am coming at it from a combo approach, Birds and Pact let me combo out that much sooner. Regardless it looks like a very fun deck to play!

Definitely makes sense. Thanks UrbanAnathema, you've given some really solid advice!

Thanks for the comment Jdvanliew!

I gave your deck a look, and I agree it's pretty neat. The godsire combo is something I've never seen before, and your deck looks pretty fun to play! That being said, my personal tastes are typically against infinite combo decks (which is why I don't run Freed from the Real despite numerous suggestions). I just don't like the frailty and "tunnel-vision" that most combo decks entail.

If I'm ever in the market to make this a combo deck however, Staff of Domination is the card, haha.

Maybe you could pop in a Guardian of the Gateless? Completely ruins token rush and can single handedly block an entire wave if your board gets wiped.

Thanks for the comment Penga! :)

While I like Guardian of the Gateless, I don't think she's the right fit for this deck. I could be doing much better things with 5 mana, she's not a defender, and Ghostly Prison already shuts down tokens, making the one or two they attack with easily blockable by any of my "impervious" walls :) It's a good thought though!

You may want to consider the Worship combo that Travis Woo built around worth his Modern competitive defender deck.

gunnyguy121, Leyline of Sanctity would be a snap inclusion if it weren't for the $30+ price tag. As it stands, I can't justify that for a sideboard card, but if you were to seriously take this to a IQ, That's definitely the way to go.

In the mean time, I think UrbanAnathema (and TWoo) has the right idea with Worship. It's a little vulnerable to board wipes, just like the rest of my deck, but it's pretty much definitely better than Dragon's Claw, and well within price range.

Good suggestions, guys!

Have you thought about using Freed from the Real? You can use it for infinite mana with Axebane, or extra damage from the Sentinel. The best part is that it's only 50 cents.

And also, have you thought about Creeping Corrosion or Shatterstorm in the sideboard for affinity?

Killkow says... #25

Thanks for the comment, MisterMayhem. Yes, I've considered Freed from the Real. I've explained in previous posts why I'm going against it, but the long story short is that I don't want or need infinite mana, and axebane is a big enough target without being a 2 for 1.

As far as my matchup against affinity, that's a great solution! I haven't gotten to face affinity with this in a while though, so I'll keep Creeping Corrosion on the backburner until I see it coming back in my meta. Thanks! :)
