Sideboard

Creature (1)

I made this deck mostly since U/G is my favorite colors to play and it makes for some fun interactions. Each card more usually fits into one or more of these categories.

  • Putters Counters on Creatures/Itself
  • Increases counters
  • Boosts cards with Counters
  • Body to put counters on
Acidic Slime : Removes just about any problem cards, then shut down attackers. Plus I can put counters on it after I kill something.
Alchemist's Refuge : I usually don't have an issue with mana fixing so running a colorless land isn't a big penalty and it gives a few options.
Algae Gharial : In a multiplayer player game this becomes massive fast and no one can do anything to stop it without a board wipe.
Bane of Progress : A board wipe is often one of the most effective ways to turn the board in your favor. This gets rid of a lot of the utility cards other players depend on.
Bond Beetle : It's a cheep way to put counters on a creature. With this deck, getting some counters is almost more important than how many because of effects like Bred for the Hunt . This gives those cards something to work off of.
Originally, I had Hunger of the Howlpack in this place but I consistently ran into two problems:
  1. I couldn't get anything to die.
  2. I didn't have any creatures to target.
Green and Blue are the two worst colors when it comes to killing things, and while I can deal with non-creatures easily, I need a big creature and a fight card to kill an opponent's creature. This meant that Hunger of the Howlpack was effectively just 1 counter when I could cast it.
Bond Beetle just drops off the morbid clause that never helped me anyway and replaces it with another creature. This means I can always have a valid target, or I can put the counter on something else and get a chump blocker.
Brainstorm : A good card to help dig for the tools I need or plan out my next few turns a bit more smoothly. Also combos well with Lorescale Coatl .
Bred for the Hunt : Very efficient card draw in this deck. I can put a few counters on each of my creatures and draw plenty of cards with a few small hits in the air.
Breeding Pool : Good mana fixing. Nothing else to say.
