I Said I'd Kill You Quickly, Not Painlessly

Standard Aggro BR (Rakdos) Midrange

Jerome5309

Sideboard

With the new set coming out, I revamped my original Rakdos deck. The new god, Mogis, God of Slaughter, puts a lot of pressure on with the burn or sac mechanic, and with all my creatures giving devotion it's possible he becomes active. Desecration Demon is a powerful card, and out with Mogis it's insane. Also, Havoc Festival is nice for putting a time clock on a match.

Now, this deck is meant to run two ways; full out Aggro, or controlling. The main board is very fast, with the staple two drops and Madcap Skills, with some biggies for later in the match if it extends and mostly burn to destroy. The side board is created with evasion and removal in mind, mainly switching to control. Take out creatures and put in control such as the rest of the Hero's Downfalls, Gilds, and Devour Fleshs. The mono black kill spells mainly work for mono blue (I'm talking to you Master of Waves. Sire Of Insanity is fun to play against control or bloodrush decks who rely on their hands, as this deck can work with top decking. Depending on the situation this deck can be more midrange with mixing the two as well.

I had tried this with my meta, and boy was it feared. First round, Rakdos Aggro, I went 2-0. Second round I went against mono black, pretty much the same deck that got runner up last weekend to mono blue. I went 2-1. First match I burned him using mogis and shocks n strikes. Second match he got me with Desecration Demons and removal. That round went very late game, and this deck still was performing well. Third match was very fast, had him down to 10 before his third turn, and he couldn't stabilize. The third round I went up against mono blue, went 0-2 because of Master of Wavesfoil was able to shut down my demons, and Judge's Familiar my removal. Round four I don't exactly remember, though I lost 1-2 barely. Finally, round five I swept 2-0, facing another Rakdos Aggro, better built than the previous one. First match Havoc Festival helped with the win, as I finished with the burn. Second match went long, as he has his mogis out, and it went down to 2:2 life. I got him though with a Madcap Skills with Spike Jester and a timely Dreadbore.
