What I don't see is Tolarian Academy . Oh, it's in the maybe board. You should have PLENTY of artifacts that make it useful after a few turns, which, with your Filigree Sages , basically means you win, one way or another. Personally, I might advise you get a Prototype Portal or two. Generating Isochron Scepter each turn means you can use more instants in various ways...

@emblasochist: The only reason the Academy is in the maybe board and not the main is the pure and simple fact that I do not own one. Aside from that, I actually went and ordered a full playset of the Portal the minute they were previewed, I simply never found a good way to use them before the combo went off.

Get a Time Walk

Isn't Time Walk a sorcery? Only instants work. That would be awesome though.

June 23, 2011 3:37 p.m.

Oh, oops. I have a 5th edition Memory Lapse up for trade if you want it.. If you have a Sorin Markov , I could pay you the difference in cash. We could meet somewhere. What town do you live in?

The only problem with Fire/Ice is that the converted cost of the split cards like that is the sum of both sides, so in this case the converted cost would be four, making it unusable on your Isochron Scepter .

Wrong platinum. You choose to imprint one of the halfs, then when you play it with isochron you can choose either half. It seems odd, but its a well known rule.

420 is absolutely correct. Boom/Bust ftw.

brianguymtg says... #13

Correct. See rule 708, that deals with split cards. Also, as a bonus, when you imprint a split card, you may choose to use the Scepter to cast either side, even if it has a cost over 2! Yay, technicalities!

I never understood why people enjoy making decks that no one ever wants to play against.

@dodgeaj02: Usually we do it just for that look on our friends faces as we pull out the infamous deck box that contains our cruel creation, also they are a little fun to play with on occasion. Everyone like something different, and I enjoy big splashy grief effects every now and again. Thanks for looking at the deck though!

June 29, 2011 8:15 a.m.

So you don't play this competitively? You simply play it casually?

Geez. My friend tries to play decks like this in our group as well, but everyone concedes as soon as they realize what he is playing. I should get the two of your together so you can play your decks against each other.

Unfortunately, some Magic decks are just not fun.I imagine the only people who would enjoy playing against this deck would be some kind of masochistic people.

Do you happen to play a stasis deck too?

brianguymtg says... #20

And no, I don't have a stasis deck. I put this together initially because I looked at the infinite mana combo that was in standard with Shards block, and Silence just happened to help me stall long enough to get the pieces for an infinite Galvanic Blast Scepter. I don't play any other control decks, and the four copies of Sol Ring were because A) my buddy was running a formatless deck also, and I was proud of myself for having traded for all four copies in only a couple weeks. I feel that me efforts have been rewarded with a deck that can win very quickly, or else protect me long enough to get the win.

fire/ice would be nice, I know this to be true because I have played against it.

i still wouldn't play this deck in a match, unless i was playing my own isochron lockdown deck, where we could take turns making each other concede. imagine that.

I dunno, what i found amusing was whipping this out in a fourway game now and again. Ups the challenge a little bit, cause as soon as they realize what your doing, it turns into, temporarily, a three on one fight. Definitely makes it harder to pull off the inifinite combo without having one of the pieces get shanked first. But Even then, I've managed to go 50-50 with it. Its just a good time, as long as it is used in careful moderation.

I think that you should throw in Banefire that way nothing can stop the infinite damage.

@permhole96: You would do better to advertise your deck:

A) Like this: deck:theoneandonlydragon-edh

B) On a deck that is perhaps similar to your own so that other viewers of the first deck (say, this one) would be possibly interested in yours.

C) On the mainpage. Deck-cycle.

(Also, if you actually talked about the deck you were viewing as opposed to just self-advertising, you may get a better result.)

@brianguymtg: This deck is sweet, there is no way I could make a legacy/vintage/whatever lockdown like this anymore! I used to run the Panoptic Mirror + Walk the Aeons combo, but alas, it is too slow. And now, the only really old cards I have are Entomb (which is fairly valuable!!) and False Memories . I have these 2 for memorabilia, traded others away. Isochron Scepter is so broken lol!! +1 from me.

Regarding the whole "concede factor" thing, my friends and I have devised a far better way to play casually:

Rather than just everyone dying and the last person standing wins, we play a point per kill system, whereby quite simply, you get a point for causing an opponents death by any means recognised to cause a player to die. This form of play adds much more versatility and strategy to the game in my opinion. Imagine a 3 player game. With this system in place, each player has to be more careful and vigilant with what they do so as not to "give a point away" to another player. Essentially in this way of play, you are trying to get 2 'points' or 'kills', rather than be the last player standing. The best part about this 'format' is the spite it can create. If I hack JOHNSMITH#1 off, then he could spite me and give the kill I earned to JOHNSMITH#2 (that is say, for example, if I tried to wipe #1 out, and despite him dying either by my hand or #2's hands, he could play card:Angel's Mercy and let #2 kill him)

I hope that made sense, I would love to know what other players make of this system. Who knows, perhaps WoTC could one day see this and implement it into comprehensive rules. lol.

One more thing... If you're not overly convinced on this way of casual play (or 'house rule'), look at it like this:

10 player game. 1 person absolutely dominates and kick ass, killing 8 opponents. He wins. Cool.

OR

10 player game. 1 person absolutely dominates and kick ass, killing 8 opponents. He gets 8 points (a much better reward) and another opponent has 1 (he killed the 9th). Awesome.
