A deck that relies on using gods, planeswalkers, and control spells to keep the early and midgame in check while it stabilizes, and then finishes off with damage from either of the gods, or AEtherling. Semi-budget, especially in the landbase (not too many shocks, no playset of Mana Confluence) and in that it only runs 2 thoughtsieze.
The creatures:
Omenspeaker
A great blocker, especially for a turn 3 Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver, and sets up your next couple draws.
AEtherling
Straight up, high quality finisher. Not too much explaining here.
Keranos, God of Storms
Epic control and draw. I consider it a finisher, but it also keeps the board in check and my hand stocked until it needs to "finish".
Mogis, God of Slaughter
A strong card, chips for damage over time or removes. Sideboarded out vs aggro (it's a dead draw).
Planeswalkers
Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver
A very flexible planeswalker, can provide me with blockers and sweep their hand against control. Very strong price.
Ral Zarek
Ramps into AEtherling, Cyclonic Rift, etc, decent removal spell, godlike (if random) if you pull of his finisher.
Jace, Architect of Thought
Shoves aggro to the curb, draws me lots, and if I ever use his finisher, I'm a bad player.
Instants and Sorceries:
Thoughtseize
It's thoughtsieze man
Magma Jet
a very solid removal spell, lets me scry. Less important since I removed Master of Cruelties, but still decent enough to keep a couple copies of.
Far / Away
A nice double removal spell, board control at its finest (in grixis, obviously)
Dreadbore
swapped out vs things like MUD and MBD for more anger. great cost, great effect. Stupid sorcery speed...
Hero's Downfall
All 3 copies removed for Dreadbore due to mana cost not working with Anger of the Gods. I'm putting it back in post-rotation and switching anger for Drown in Sorrow.
Mizzium Mortars and Cyclonic Rift
Solid 2 cost effects, epic when overloaded. See ya
Blood Baron of Viskopa
. I don't think I need any more of either as long as I have plenty of anger.
Anger of the Gods
Stomp those aggro decks, snipe the Sylvan Caryatids, sideboard out vs control. Gonna go out for the most part post rotation due to mana issues (see Hero's Downfall)
Syncopate
Snipe their early game spells and make sure they don't come back. Side out vs control for better counter spells.
Dissolve
A very good counter spell, lets me scry. Overall nice, makes me feel good to have it in hand.
Divination
Taken out, might add in post rotation. It all depends on the Jace in M15.
Inspiration
Solid, instant speed draw. Easy switchout post rotation for Jace's Ingenuity.
Opportunity
Great card to restock your hand after you board-sweep them and have a moment to spare. Also great vs control when you figure out they have spells you need to counter at the end of their turn. Easy switchout post rotation for Jace's Ingenuity.
rakdos return
Sweep their hand, deal some damage. Since I'm too lazy to run anything more than a single copy, there's no real point in sideboarding out vs anything short of pure aggro.
SIDEBOARD
2x Anger of the Gods
pop in vs devotion and aggro.
2x Dark Betrayal
Pop in vs MBD, rakdos, anywhere nessesary.
2x Gainsay
pop in vs MUD and control. I only run 2 because a lot of control decks have other spells I want to counter.
2x Lifebane Zombie
pop in vs these type of creature decks. A hitter, a blocker, a handsnipe. yes please.
1x Negate
control. nuff said.
3x Slaughter Games
Snipe Sphinx's Revelation, Assemble the Legion, AEtherling, anything else that dirty control deck has up their sleeves.
That's it. Suggestions?
