In all seriousness, unlike my Yeva, Nature's Herald deck, I didn't go into building this one with any particular theme or strategy in mind. I just threw in a bunch of accelerators, big creatures, and the smallest number of non-creature spells I could.

My main concern with running Ruric Thar, the Unbowed as a Commander wasn't how I was going to work around the restriction of having so few non-creature spells (I had gotten used to playing a creature-heavy deck with my Yeva list), but it was that with such a punishing effect attached to my Commander, I'd be focused down. To my pleasant surprise, this deck is able to get on the offensive very quickly and put my opponents in a defensive position, preventing any kind of sudden bum-rush. Even when things are in a lull, I found to my surprise that rather than focus me down, people would simply continue to take the 6 damage that Ruric Thar dishes out. For what it's worth, I have yet to try this deck out against a very counter-heavy deck, which could allow them to completely avoid Ruric Thar's damage.
