why wouldn't i do -4 Akroan Crusader 's instead?

Don't get me wrong; Akroan Crusader is THE most powerful card in the deck. If you were willing to play 2-3 uncommons, as in Coordinated Assault , Akroan Crusader can be a turn 3 win condition. I play from experience.

I don't think anybody plays Pauper because they can't afford uncommons. There are obviously better cards out there, but the format of the deck is simply Pauper.
