Whirlwind_2100: Thank you! This is still my favorite deck to play and I play it as often as I can, so keep checking back for updates!
I have a good feeling that Theros is going to have some great stuff for us. Maybe another Purphoros!

Loving the deck list, currently building it out. Did you take out all the infinite combos because of you meta? Would love to see a deck list with all your infinites in it.

heavyuser Thanks!
My regular playgroup made a "no two-card infinites" rule (this deck didn't have any so it didn't effect me), but a long time ago when I had a few 3+ card infinite mana combos (mostly built around Mana Echoes ) and a few infinite Goblin generators (Krenko + Thornbite Staff , Goblin Warrens + infinite mana, etc..) I realized I had a lot more fun winning or losing through combat than I did with any of my infinite combos. Especially with Ib as a commander and the path this deck has followed since I started it, I definitely wanted the focus to be on combat shenanigans, even it meant working a lot harder to do win (dealing 120+ damage in a game isn't always easy!), or giving up on a few easy wins out of nowhere.
Personally no infinite I ever cast felt better than a Blasphemous Act + sac outlet win, wiping a table off the back of Repercussion , or going all into a Price of Progress / Acidic Soil combo after saccing all of my lands.
I still like something like Aggravated Assault a lot as it is a nice boost to combat on its own, but if you get the right 10+ cards/creatures on the battlefield it will go infinite in this deck as well. That's the kind of convoluted, hard to follow type of infinite that I like to pull off. Plus, no one really gets butthurt when it takes you 10+ cards to do it!

Gotcha gotcha, makes sense. My last 15 cards for this deck are coming this week. Have you thought about replacing a Basic with Castle Embereth?

Also, maybe we can get you to start a change log?? Would love to see how the deck progresses from one month to another.

heavyuser: I used to have the built in change log turned on, but once it got to modification 400 something I decided to turn it off because it was too hard to follow. I would say 90%+ of the changes are captured within the comment history, and the more pivotal changes I added to the Update log.
I'm going to be updating the descriptions in the primer with the last few months of changes, and I will be swapping Fork and Reverberate for something a little more aggressive and fun (not sure what yet).

Awesome, looking forward to it!
When you have some time would love to read about this 10+card infinite floating around in the deck.

Also I just re-read your previous comment and final processed that you are building the deck out. That is so awesome! Let me know how it goes after you get a chance to use it a few times. It definitely has a unique playstyle that takes a while to get used to, but eventually you see just how scrappy it is and how many ways it can win out of nowhere.

heavyuser: It's isn't particularly fancy, but it doesn't look like a combo is building up so it flies under the radar pretty well...
Pieces
- Krenko, Mob Boss (most likely tapped at this point in order to get enough tokens, or Ib can help go all out)
- Goblin Warchief (or other haste enabler)
- Skirk Prospector (or Ashnod's if you have a color filter of some sort)
- Aggravated Assault
- 8x Goblin tokens (or more if your haste enabler and/or sac outlet aren't goblins too. Total goblins must be 11 or more.)
Sequence
- Sacrifice 5 Goblin tokens to Skirk Prospector to make . Total remaining Goblins at 6.
- Pay into Aggravated Assault untapping Krenko, Mob Boss .
- Tap Krenko, Mob Boss to make 6 goblin tokens, totaling 12.
- Repeat for infinite hasty goblins, and technically infinite combats if you wanted.
If they are preventing combat or pillowforting Impact Tremors , Goblin War Strike , or Goblin Bombardment and the like all help convert the damage over.
Of course it gets easier with untapped lands available, or when Krenko starts untapped and you are already at 6+ goblins, but this part can be done with zero lands remaining, which is just the kind of thing an Ib deck will do sometimes.

Hey Liquidbeaver! Haven’t stopped in for a while so I figured I’d see how things are going.
You aren’t lying when you said this deck has a bit of an odd playstyle and takes time to get used to lol. It’s simple to me because I’m accustomed to the nonsense but I let someone fairly new to magic play with it and they were completely lost lol.
Still one of my go to decks when I’m looking to have some fun though. Took down a tuned maelstrom wanderer list the other day so that was fun lol.
My playgroup has wisened up to some of my shenanigans. I feel I have done much on my quest to prove Ib Halfheart is the greatest among goblins.

Got the last cards for this deck last week and WOW, it really is so much F'ing fun to play. I wasn't perceived as a threat for the majority of the game until it was too late.
I did make a few changes and wondering what you think about it Liquidbeaver
Added: Cavern of Souls removing Darksteel Citadel
Thinking about adding: Nyx Lotus Gamble
I'm having some trouble figuring out what to cut though, any ideas?

heavyuser I'm really glad you are enjoying it! It only gets better from here as you get more used to all the alternate play lines. I will say though that you may reach a point where people preemptively attack you because of what the deck can do, but then you just have to give them a hard time that they have bad threat assessment and how you have no boardstate and other people....and then kill them again!
Darksteel Citadel and Buried Ruin are the two most cuttable lands. I definitely suggest not dropping below 23 basics. Darksteel only interacts with Goblin Welder really.
I think both of your additions are solid. The only reason I don't run Gamble is since I have had the deck for several years now I want the most randomness possible (in all my decks regardless of color), so I don't run any more tutors than the creature ones. Running it is definitely advantageous, and there is hardly a more red-esque spell than Gamble.
Nyx Lotus is something I am also considering. The only thing I am questioning is the ETBT, but that could be mitigated in a deck running more ramp and things like Mana Echoes.
Please keep letting me know how your next games go! It always makes me happy to hear when people have fun playing a deck that was never really taken seriously before.

I absolutely love this, the primer, the deck and the clear amount of thought and effort put into this. I’ve been running an Ib deck tuned to my playgroup for awhile and even took home the win at my LGS in a commander tourney beating out both my friends Zada and Grenzo lists, yes I know we have a lot of goblin players, but I find with Ib nobody gives you a proper threat assessment until the games slipped away. Definitely a sweet list!

Removed Fork and Reverberate for something a little more exciting. Wild Ricochet in, and Insult / Injury back in as a placeholder for the next fun thing I find!

Games have been going well, one thing I noticed is it takes a long time to assemble pieces that I need to win. There have been a good amount of games where I really don't do much.

Conspicuous Snoop in M21 looks like it would be a beast in this deck. Definitely must add. Might be a better Experimental Frenzy

And what about Fiery Anticipation? Ibslosion for 12.

I think you meant Fiery Emancipation, but yes that seems deadly.

Conspicuous Snoop and Fiery Emancipation both look amazing, and we got another Goblin spoiled today!
Goes very, very well with Goblin Recruiter, and as long as you make an unblockable attack with him he can swing for quite a lot.

Muxus is sweet. My only concern; 6CMC is quite high for a low to the ground Goblin deck. The value with Goblin Recruiter IS insane though. I will definitely want to test this out.
