iknowrite lol

I wante her as a 2of badly in the build, been trying to make her work without breaking the mana curve, and/or the synergy of the deck. Still working on it.

Fear not, she will make the final build.

I think that Sorin, Solemn Visitor can be exchanged directly for Elspeth, Sun's Champion while retaining functionality and synergy.

UPDATE - Built the deck, well most of it. Could not find a few pieces, primarily land so running proxies as of right now.

It works, and well. If it does not trump by simply being Aggro, the mill works very well. in playtests I was able to mill the opponents deck to under 30 by turns 5/6 in multiple games removing any answers he was praying to top deck.

Butcher of the Horde is INFINITELY better then expected. Feeding him tokens for Haste/Vigilance/Lifelink is a game changer. May increase to 3of.

My major issue at the moment is finding the correct mana base. I dont want to run Mana Confluence but I dont think I have a choice not to. Sting lands are showing to work well.

No reason to run Altar of the Brood , simply replacing it with more creatures is going to give you a faster and more reliable deck

I know there is no Valid "Reason" to run it. but I build Janky left field builds. That utilize silly concepts. Altar of the Brood is not a wincon. Its to help prevent them from hitting answers.

When the deck gets rolling with multiple non-token creatures, Altar of the Brood and Mardu Ascendancy in play I can mill upwards of 15 cards + per turn. There is no one I know out there that would enjoy losing 15 potential answers per turn, save for maybe a very heavy Dredge or Delve deck, in which case they get sided out for control.

Might want to try Goblin Kaboomist ;)

xGhostx says... #9

heh, another janky concept lol

Chief of the Scale would allow Goblin Kaboomist to live even if losing the flip lol.

Love it! Gonna try and find room for him. at least in the maybe or SB

My argument would be to replace Chief of the Edge and put Goblin Kaboomist in there if you want to go more toward the mill side of things. Not sure how it works in your build, but its an interesting suggestion anyways

All Altar of the Brood does is set you at a disadvantage. It enables them to easily cast delve spells, while not hurting their chances of drawing answers.

But if you want to run it go ahead

I see where your coming from, and trust me I thought the same way. I have been building and playing competitively since Ice Age / 4th Edition.

Playtesting shows other results.... thats the reason I am going to run this build, at least for a few weeks. I think due to playtesting vs rotated or non-khans builds may not have achieved full results, in which case more playtesting is needed, and will be conducted.

So far the games it has played have shown acceptable results. Milling away answers and their wincons.

I have taken alot of heat from this build running the 4 Altar of the Brood but I do strongly think that they benefit it.

More playtesting may, as playtesting has done in the past, prove me very wrong at which point I will graciously admit defeat and remove them :)

Take out that Chief of the Scale crap and get yourself 2 more Purphoros and a fourth Chief of the Edge and this babie is going places.

I like the thought of 3x Purphoros, God of the Forge but it worries me at that same time.

I did drop Chief of the Scale entirely, bumped to 4x Chief of the Edge 2x Purphoros, God of the Forge and added a third Magma Jet main board to help scry away unwanted and get to core elements faster.

Good call, thanks for the advice jsansoldo

Consider Brimaz, King of Oreskos for additional token shenanigans?

I know you don't like the Midnight Guard mill combo, but I think I have found a way to make it work pretty good. So, can you take a look at my deck and give me your opinion on it?

Im_NotoriouzZz It looks solid, the reason I am not a fan of the Infinite Mill combo with Altar of the Brood is that it is stoppable. Building around that concept is flawed for that reason. There is a chance that it can be stalled by a kill spell / counter spell / Artifact destruction, and with Delve and cast from graveyard being a prominent thing, I just dont see the build being competitive. Table top games, its an A+ build for sure!

Sandman1278 I have been playing with that thought and I agree that Brimaz, King of Oreskos is the best available option from the choices of him, Elspeth, Sun's Champion and Wingmate Roc I am still toying with running him.

BIG UPDATE

Hey All.

So what I have dreaded, has become reality as I feared it would.Altar of the Brood DOES NOT work in this build. Substantial playtesting against current meta decks has proven this without a doubt. The deck wins much more without it, period.

I am scrapping the Mill concept from this build, but still think that Mill is very possible in Standard now by utilizing Tokens and Altar of the Brood Just not here....

I have dropped the 4x Altar of the Brood for 3x Soldier of the Pantheon and the 23rd land to try and further out the mana drops. This should make the deck more consistent.

I am very surprised Soldier of the Pantheon is currently not seeing more play as he is not just a Voice of Resurgence / Fleecemane Lion wall anymore, but he is nemesis to a large portion of decks that will be seeing Standard play, at least for the next few weeks.

I am sorry I failed you, I really wanted to make this Janky of the Janky work but unfortunately at this time, Standard is still just to fast for it. Maybe when the next set or two drops and Standard slows down, then it again be revisited.

I am going to continue to work this build to perfection, thanks for all the help this far!

Please continue to review, comment, playtest and of course upvote!

You should definitely try and fit at least 2 Crackling Doom s in here. That card is ridiculous. Currently, I am trying to build a deck that focuses on 4x Howl of the Horde s, with Crackling Doom being one of the combo's that goes along with it...it's just a fantastic card

I think Crackling Doom is great as well. I think I might be able to straight replace Utter End with it, and move Utter End to the SB

Pretty sure I have FINALLY fixed the mana in this tri-color monster without the need of Mana Confluence

Pretty well at final build. Will be running this option at FNM tomorrow and that will be the deciding factor on how far this build goes.

Dropped the Hordeling Outburst and the Soldier of the Pantheon for Tormented Hero and Akroan Hoplite due to searching through a random box and noticing how amazing the hoplite is in this build :)

As always, playest this aggro token creating monster and let me know your thoughts!
