I think I am going to try and work 3x Thoughtseize into the build MB......

I really love this deck and plan on making one very similar to this. I would love to see you fit Spear of Heliod or Iroas, God of Victory into this deck.

Spear of Heliod gets SB, current 2 in there :)

Have considered MB'ing it, but the issue is the W mana production can be problematic. Dropping a card with WW in the casting costs will essentially force me to take 2 damage......

Yeah that could be problematic. I would love to see even just one Ankle Shanker though.

lol yeah he is pretty cool, I tried to make him work in early development and he just did not fit. Butcher of the Horde is just infinitely better....

I really wanna try to squeeze Tymaret, the Murder King in as a 2of, but not sure what I would drop for him.....Maybe 1x Goblin Rabblemaster and 1x Akroan Hoplite for 2x Tymaret, gonna mess around with the idea see what I can make work.

Be prepared for weenie aggro hate. It's real, and it's a thing. I know that I was prepared for it, with my sideboard in my Sultai deck. I got murdered game one by a deck like yours (B/R splash white), and then games two and three murdered back with all the Drown in Sorrow , Doomwake Giant and other hateful cards. I think I am not alone in expecting this to be big for a bit.

Agreed, I ran into this last night, losing in the finals to Mono-Black. Thats where Mardu Ascendancy plays such a vital role, enough so that I think I am going to up to 4of. Also strongly considering Chief of the Scale to make his way back in the build.

Mardu Ascendancy saved me multiple times last night from Drown in Sorrow , Bile Blight and Boon of Erebos by sac'ing it to give all the +0/+3 I underestimated the power of the feature until last night.

But all in, I strongly agree weenie hate is very real right now lol

Major Updates again after further playtests.

Moved 3x Thoughtseize to the Sideboard

Moved 1x Stoke the Flames from SB to MB

Dropped 1x Mardu Ascendancy

Added 1x Butcher of the Horde to make 4of

Testing with 2x Sorin, Solemn Visitor I think he works here, but not sold on the idea. Playtesting will be required before Friday to see if he makes the cut or not.

I would recommend Soldier of the Pantheon be moved to mainboard. That guy is really good and another set of 1 drops would get you going consistently.

mrbloo1848 I had Soldier of the fancy pantaloons running MB but found he was not overly synergetic in games that he did not hit is cause to be there. Essentially, when the deck is not multi-color heavy, which believe it or not, my meta still has some very solid mono-color decks in contest being so early into Khans. That why I moved him to the SB

Maybe down the road when more people start running the tri-color or dual color builds with lots of gold then I will move him back to MB.

I do agree with your thinking though, Soldier is just soooo much better now that Khans has dropped.

Borderland Marauder ? She's a warrior and a little easier to cast than Akroan Hoplite. With Chief of the Edge, that's a solid 4/2 attacking. I have a similar deck, check it out if you like. [the-murder-kings-goblin-cannon-fodder]

Hmmmm, I will test with it see what happens, but Akroan Hoplite lays serious beats in this deck. Goblin Rabblemaster and Mardu Ascendancy put so many Goblin tokens attacking every turn thats its not uncommon for the Hoplite to be swinging as 10/2 or larger.

But if your opponent has a Soldier of the Pantheon, he'll just block the Hoplite like a boss. And potentially trigger his life gain ability. But that's hypothetical.

Minor Update

Sorin, Solemn Visitor is outstanding here and is staying as a 2of for sure.

2nd place @ FNM last night. 2/0 all matches except finals losing 2/1 to "Merican Control Running Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker and Elspeth, Sun's Champion . I was also running with NO sideboard as I was stuck at work late and did not have time to build it. So MB got me to the finals undefeated. Going to be running this Mardu build for a while :) Thanks for the help everyone!

As of 10/11/14 TopRank #38! Thanks everyone!

Please continue to comment, playtest and most importantly upvote!

I would love to see this bad boy break top 20!

Why not run Gnarled Scarhide over Tormented Hero ? Functionally it's no different, since you're not running heroic enablers, and late-game scarhide to bestow on enemy blockers or your flying threats seems better to me.

I'm guessing it's the synergy with your Warrior lord, but tbh, I think you could do very much better by dropping the lord in favor of running more of your better threats. Even running two more Magma Jet would do it, it's an insanely valuable card in this build. Another you could throw in as a singleton would be Hall of Triumph , which adds infinitely more value to your tokens than the edgelord.

Lastly, you could probably drop one Tymaret just for consistency's sake, or even both. He's not a win-con, he's recursive when you get him, and having two in-hand is a real bummer.

Cool stuff! +1 :)

All good suggestions. As for Hero or Scarhide, really the only reason was because I had 4 of the promo foil Hero's and he looks cool :) Really if the game gets to the point where I have 4 mana available to use on a 2/1 bestow something went wrong at some point lol. Butcher should have been out and swinging long before then. The Hero is just there as a second 4of 1drop. Might fool around with putting the Scarhide in.

I really like Chief of the Edge he plays well with the deck, I was running 4of originally and then dropped to the 3of along with the 3of of Akroan Hoplite . If I was forced to drop one of the two, I would more then likely be more inclined to free up the 3 spots held by the Hoplite.

I fooled around with Hall of Triumph but due to the rainbow nature of the build it was not really an option. Obelisk of Urd would be a better option and calling tokens on it, but even that is very janky at best.

Tymaret, the Murder King is currently in on a pilot project. I am not sure if he stays or not. He did work well for me last night being able to throw some tokens after combat for 2,4 or even 6 extra damage a turn proved to be useful. I think if I was going to remove him as a 2of it would be for Purphoros, God of the Forge again, still playing with this idea.

Thanks for the comments and the +1!

+1 from me fellow Mardu clansmen. Very cool deck and great synergy with card selection. This deck builds up quickly and keeps on coming. I love aggressive play and this fits right in. You have a nice balance here, and don't have much in ways of suggestion, but rather would like to hear how Tymaret, the Murder King works out.

I've debated running the Mardu Ascendancy within my own deck, but not sure if it really fits. Would appreciate it if you could take a look. I'd love to hear your feedback.
Nicely done.

Blackblade Thanks for the kind words!

Tymaret, the Murder King has really only seen one solid night of playtesting so I cannot say yea or nae if he will make final cut or not.

He certainly helped more then hindered at FNM, but he did not really fit a role where I was looking to topdeck him like I would a Butcher of the Horde or say Stoke the Flames

I think in the long term, he will eventually get replaced for Purphoros, God of the Forge as the 2of. Purphoros just results in doing so much more with chucking fireballs everytime a creature hits the battlefield, which as I am sure you can see happens often :)

I am checking on your deck now, and will comment my thoughts.
