Thanks Blackblade for getting me to look at your deck, Gonna try running Athreos, God of Passage as a 2of in place of Tymaret, the Murder King for some playtesting to see if I notice a substantial difference.

The second option is to keep Tymaret in as a 2of, drop 3x Akroan Hoplite add 2x Athreos, God of Passage and 1x Purphoros, God of the Forge

Fellow builders! I call on you! Which option would you go with!????!!!?!

Hey thanks for that feedback on my deck. Personally I think Purphoros, God of the Forge has a greater potential here because his ability will most likely trigger the turn you put him into play assuming that your 3 drop will be Goblin Rabblemaster

Yeah I think your right.

Dropping 3x Akroan Hoplite

Adding back the 2x Tymaret, the Murder King , 2x Purphoros, God of the Forge and dropping Athreos, God of Passage to a 1of. Try running this for a bit see what happens.

Thanks!

Really love the deck! I'm a HUGE Mardu fan and I'll always love R/W/B. This deck has amazed me and helped me make a fun beater/burn deck. It's called Big Beaters from H-E-Double Toothpicks and love the deck so much! +1 from me all the way!

I also agree with the drop of Hoplites. Purphoros is great card to burn with and have fun with Rabblemaster. Those 2 have so much synergy not to mention the ascendancy!!!!! Dealing so much each turn and sacin' em with Tymaret combines with a ton of glory. Yet when I played with my Mardu Rabble before rotation Hoplite was a GOD with loyalists. Hoplite is a such a cool card with tokens but I feel he can die too easily with the low toughness without first strike. Athreos is so good with Rabblemaster when he attacks forces a blocker and comes back dealin' 2 with Purphoros and the ascendancy putting the opponent's life down another 2. SO MUCH SYNERGY!!!

lol Thanks! Yeah I am a Synergy Builder thats for sure.Typically when I am building a deck I will start with a mechanic of 1 2 or 3 cards and use that as my base then build around that trying to only add things that hold synergy with the original concept without making it to janky that nothing works together.

I really like the Hoplite's as well, but I think dropping them for the 2x Purphors and the 1x Athreos was the right call. Further playtesting will tell me for sure.

Thanks for the +1 and I will take a look at your build ASAP.

Major update. Dropped alot, added alot. Not sure if of these changes will stick but playtesting for a few days with it.

The deck has slowed down by a turn or so, but has become more consistent and more control. Still toying with these thoughts!

Stay Tuned!

Why Bloodstained Mire ?? you have no swamps so it's basically a mountain that pings you.

October 14, 2014 4:19 a.m.

xGhostx says... #9

There are multiple reasons to run the 4 Mires.

  1. Thinning the deck.Fetches let you get things in your deck out of the way.

  2. Hitting a Mire can get me the swamp I need or the mountain I need in turns 1/2

  3. With Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth the Mires can still produce B mana.

  4. Beyond turn 3/4 life is not a concern. Butcher of the Horde and Sorin, Solemn Visitor ensure that I am gaining more then I am taking.

This shell is very good and I like the upgrades! Where did you get the ideas from? I would like to know so I could for inspiration from it and your deck. It is efficient for aggro and can pull up to the Midrange lining. I would look out for Mono-Green decks. They trample people and are just PLAIN annoying with big creatures and annoying walkers. Hope for 15 and congrats on 20!

Hey! I spent some time before rotation running a Aggro/Midrange Orzhov build so I kinda knew where to look to get what I wanted.

The deck had first been a very aggro build, but with the way the ProTour played out it looks like the Meta will shift to Mid-Range'Ish so I wanted to be sure that I could compete there as well. Thats when the slow down happened in the deck and it took the shape of a more burn/control build in the later turns.

Mono-Green I just gotta be faster then their Coursers and Caryatids. As long as I can build an early board presence and hit an early Rabblemaster or Brimaz I can out race them. If that fails Game will result in the deck changing to a heavy control. Banishing Light , Hero's Downfall Utter End Bile Blight and wait for Butcher of the Horde to do his thing.

Nice job on the idea! Welcome to Midrange (ish)! I play a very well Midrange-ish deck and it revolves of fliers and burn the only to get the green and mean beasts. Me too I have to be faster than MG to race and beat them. I run lights ends and perhaps blights. My stormbreath butcher and roc will have to prevail this time for me. You can take a look if you want now. I still need editing for no deck is finished :)

I honestly love this deck very much! This was the deck I saw before deciding I wanted to make a mardu deck of my own. I would really appreciate it if you gave it a quick look!

Made changes..... I dont think Athreos, God of Passage makes the cut here, does not put in enough work..... For the time being dropped to 1x Athreos until I find a suitable replacement to his slot. May just fill with the 4th Crackling Doom

Added 2x Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker as he lays the beats and when you +1 him, followed by a +1 to Sorin, Solemn Visitor (In that order, otherwise Sorin's trigger has no effect on Sarkhan) makes for quick game ending tactics.

Will playtest more tomorrow and see how this pans out. Stay Tuned!

Stormbreath Dragon is out of the curve. The entire deck curves out at 4 CMC other then the 2of Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker

As well, I dont really need Stormbreath in the build as I have Butcher of the Horde for Air control as well as Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker thats gonna lay beats everyturn he is out, more so if Sorin, Solemn Visitor is on board as well.

I did toy with Stormbreath Dragon for some time in the build, but he just did not make that cut at the end of the day. He may make a sideboard spot as a solid 2of though. Still working on the SB

Thanks for the suggestion though!

I kinda like Zurgo Helmsmasher in SB against control it's a monster, they have to kill it on your turn, it has haste it has quite the power.

xGhostx says... #22

Zurgo has never really been on my radar for this build, he does not really fit. My wincons are Butcher of the Horde , Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker + Sorin, Solemn Visitor combined with burn. The rest of the deck is bait and control.

Zurgo is a heavy 5 drop (my build curves out at 4 with the exception of the 2 Sarkhans) that is easily dealt with in the current Meta.

I would exchange Soldier of the Pantheon with Nyx-Fleece Ram in your SB. He's 2 damage, but against abzan or mono green (2 top % builds in my meta 3rd being jeski combo) I found he ends up being a blocker. Trample, even multi colored (rhino or hydras) only prevents 1 damage from going through. His life gain only averaged 2-3 life gain for me a game where nxy-fleece gained 6-7 on average when played and prevented a hell of a lot more than the soldier. I felt at the price of 2 damage once or twice with a solid unconditional blocker + the added lifegain was better. ESP against agro. They can't climb over it and you're effectively nulling 2 dudes per turn until you can get a threat on the board. Really complements bloodsoaked as a T2 move regardless if he is able to attack T2 or not.

Solid suggestion...... I dont think I could find a home for him Mainboard, which is fine. Game1 typically will not call for him anyway.

I did shuffle up the SB to add him as a 3of. Removed Athreos, God of Passage as he just was not doing enough work. dropped 1x Bile Blight and 1x Utter End to add 3 Sheep.

I am keeping Solider in the SB for now, as I just love his pro-multi color in the meta at the moment. I will run this tonight and see how it plays and update.

Thanks!

So I built this deck out of curiosity and took it to FNM. Unfortunately I didn't have any Stoke the Flames so I had to replace them with 2x Utter End and 2x Banishing Light . I ended up getting 2nd place at 3-1, only losing to Abzan. I was pleasantly surprised. It is a solid deck that I would tweak for my meta, but the Nyx-Fleece Ram is a good addition for the sb. Anything that may prevent life gain would be good too. Erebos, God of the Dead just doesn't see play.

Round One vs. Abzan: 2-0. Was a younger kid, had a decent deck but I didn't really see much. He had too little mana G1 and got flooded G2. Easy win.

Round 2 vs. Esper Control: 2-1. First game I had a bit of trouble early on. My draws just weren't there. I'd Magma Jet and scry two lands to the bottom of the library just to draw into more lands. Plus, his abundance of planes walkers was overwhelming. I had Hero's Downfall in my sb, so I brought those in and 2x Stormbreath Dragon . G2 and G3 went to me. He couldn't do anything with all of my removal and let's face it, Butcher of the Horde is a beast. Won me basically every game.

Round 3 vs. Selesnya Counters(?): 2-0. I didn't really get to see his deck. He had Hero of Iroas , Hardened Scales , some Banishing Light and I honestly have no idea what else. The games were just over so quickly. This was an easy victory.

Round 4 vs Azban: 0-2. This was for all the marbles and I choked. I should've mulliganed the first game, but I didn't. Easy win for him. Second game I drew a ton of removal but he had an answer around every corner. The game lasted for awhile, but I kept drawing into lands and he kept drawing into answers. He ended up undefeated and I got 2nd place.

I'd like to thank you xGhostx for this great deck. I was originally running a Mardu Token deck but just wasn't pleased with it's lack of consistently. This deck, however, is solid and with a few tweaks for my meta it will be very fun to play.
