What's black and white and cursed all over?
I mostly play 60 card multiplayer, and I always found the idea of a discard deck kind of hard because things like thoughsieze just don't cut it against multiple opponents. So, this is my work around that hits big discards all at once with Oona's Blackguard and I can actually shake down 3-4 opponents hand's at a time with my +1/+1 countered up creatures.
This is a rework of an older deck because it got some awesome new support with Giada, Font of Hope and Braids, Arisen Nightmare They both just fit so perfectly.
Note: I'm still testing a bunch of things, so it may all change soon, but the core strategy is working well in my playgroup.
What does it do?
The main goal of this deck is to get a Oona's Blackguard on the field and then Resplendent Marshal becomes an absolute bomb of a card. Ideally you'd set it up by getting something with changeling into the graveyard either by mill, discard, or just by attacking with them early to eat removal. Universal Automaton can often just attack with little regard because you want the in the graveyard, and they will often get buffs off Giada, Font of Hope or Resplendent Marshal or just Oona's Blackguard to make it scary enough to take removal.
Anyways, there's two ways to set this synergy up as you play. Either get down the blackguard first and then drop Resplendent Marshal with Changeling Outcast in the graveyard, or to pump out a bunch of +1/+1 counters and then play Oona's Blackguard before attacks. Either way, you really want it to all happen at once. This deck has some tempo discard, but it's really meant to explode into a discard party.
Early Game
Eye Collector and Mire Triton are some of the better cards to start off with. Getting the mill rolling is nice, and Eye Collector can gain counters later or if it goes to the graveyard it can be a good target for Resplendent Marshal And really Mire Triton is just so overall punishing to creature strategies.
Late Game
With both discard and forcing sacs with things like Liliana of the Veil and Braids, Arisen Nightmare or even Rankle, Master of Pranks should really lower the threats out there, and then your pumped small fliers are the way to victory. Bitterblossom goes really well with Oona's Blackguard (ha, of course!) but you can also pump your tokens with Resplendent Marshal or sac them into Braids, Arisen Nightmare
Powering Up
The landbase here could use a little work, but it works well enough for me. I do like Witch's Cottage but it isn't always the best. If nothing else it can be fodder for discarding to Lilly.
And Undying Evil is really fun, but also very situational. When it works, it's amazing to get your creature back, put a counter on them, and then use that counter to force discards with Oona's Blackguard But at the same time, you can't do it to a creature with counters, so it's a very double edged sword. I've found it so good when it's good that it's worth it, but this is a cutable slot.
Rankle, Master of Pranks is here for the haste. He'd be slightly overcosted for a 3/3, but that haste is so good sometimes.
What's The Point?
Multiplayer games can be very turtley so it's always exciting to find ways to apply a different strategy to it. If players are taking their time, going slow, and ramping up to something big, this deck will pick everything out of their hand all at once and then faerie stab them, little by little : ) I felt like the disruption coming out of nowhere and ruining everybody's plan was a very faerie flavor way to make this strategy work, and Resplendent Marshal was absolutely the way to get there.
Big thanks to everyone for recommendations! Have a wonderful day today : )
