Im a huge fan of Spell Burst. I know its not super good in the early game, but with tron out it's very hard to beat it. I'd bump it up a copy and cut either a Repeal or Wurmcoil Engine

infinitemana: Spell Burst is a useful one-of for the soft lock, but definitely not worth two slots due to it's weakness in the early game in comparison to cards like Repeal or Dismember.

wow.

has really NO ONE suggested Tolaria West for land searching?

its very efficient.

buildingadeck your expertise again. What are you thoughts on Tectonic Edge vs Ghost Quarter? There are plus and minuses for both. What do you think.

Ghost Quarter is generally better because it can hit Inkmoth Nexus early in the game, keeping you alive much of the time.

buildingadeck It does put you down on resources early game by setting back a land. Plus I feel attached to Tec edge because it got me 1st at a modern tourney. I was playing Scapeshift. It is a tough decision. Its just that I don't know how much GQ improves my matchups against affinity and such. Whereas tec edge can help me about 100% of the time if the have at least four lands. This is the question I ask myself. If I run GQ, will I be compromising my better matchups for a better matchup against a deck that I am most likely to lose to anyways?

I don't think that the Affinity and Infect matchups are bad enough for you to simply give up on them. I am currently 4-2 against Affinity in matches. Of course, Tectonic Edge is much better in a vacuum, Ghost Quarter helps your bad matchups. You want to have answers to many decks rather than have the ability to simply win the ones you're already apt to win.

buildingadeck. I just loath to lose a land drop especially when I am trying to get ahead of my opponent in mana. Also when my opponent gets to 4 lands tec edge is infinitely better. Would it be ok to find a compromise and run 1 of each and take out a island? This may work because I have Talismans to get blue in a pinch and if I absolutely need blue I can activate my Ghost Quarter and target my own land to get blue. I also have Academy Ruins to return Expedition map so I can search for more blue if I need it. This may be the best way to go... What do you think?

buildingadeck Also what do you think about running some number of Temple of Deceit? I know that they enter tapped, however it would provide a scry which is always good and it would also make it so I could pay for Dismember without losing as much life.

Well, after looking over your deck list again, I think that losing a land drop early makes a larger difference for you because you're running 22 lands as opposed to the normal 23. I think upping your land count and dropping a Talisman is the place to be because Abrupt Decay will hit you hard if you rely on Talismans for mana.

As for Temple of Deceit, why not just run Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth? It'll make Dismember as far from painful as possible and give Sundering Titan a greater slew of lands to blow up.

@buildingadeck: All very good points. Running 4 Talisman of Dominance may seem suboptimal however I think I am right where I want to be with them. I have so much land fetch anyways, rarely do I miss a land drop. Plus, I can discard them to Thirst for Knowledge. I do understand why Urborg would be wicked cool, however, having it in the mainboard as a swamp that SOMETIMES increases land destruction from the Titan is not exactly good. I could understand running it if I had Dismember mainboard, however I don't right now. I may actually keep the decklist as is. Although I will be playtesting with the altered version.

Ah, my bad. I must've gotten confused and thought you were one of the people who ran the Dismembers in the main. In that case, yeah, a single Temple might be okay. It's great on T1, but after that gets worse in the mid-game before it gets better in the late game.

Hi,

wow! who did upset you this much that you play this kind of deck :o

Looking at the deck made me wonder why you didn't even give 1 slot to a Cyclonic Rift?

Man, I have seen cards fly all over the room when this baby overloaded!

Just for having the mana open gives people the creeps... Enjoy this in an evil/twisted way!

ps: Force of Will as the utter surprise? Or does the budget limits this?

October 26, 2015 4:30 a.m.

buildingadeck says... #15

PartyJ: Force of Will is not a modern-legal card.

Cyclonic Rift is very good in this type of a build, but it depends on how you want to run your deck, and it is often the first cut made because it's conditionally good.

@buildingadeck: Is running 2-4 Temple of Deceit to many tap lands? It seams to me that running just 1 is not good enough because dismember is 2 phyrexian black and I want the ability to pay its entire cost without paying life if I have to.

October 26, 2015 6:39 p.m.

IzzetFanatic says... #17

@buildingadeck: Is running more than one Temple a bad idea because its too many tap lands?

October 26, 2015 6:42 p.m.

buildingadeck says... #18

Why not a Tango land and a Temple?

buildingadeck Is a good idea. I like it. Fortunately I have both. lol. Thank you for your advise. Do you play untap.in? if you do I have a program to recommend. It is called Cockatrice. They have 2 really good servers. The Main and the Magic league. Magic league, I am a judge and they do ranked tournies and have teams. I hope that you download it. It is way better then untap. You can get it from woogerworks.com and make sure you make an account. You can play without an account but I would strongly suggest getting an account. It is open source so there is small chance you could get a virus however I have not and there are over 800 users on it. None have gotten viruses from it.The decks are saved to you computer so you can email deck files to each other to like test a gauntlet. Deck making is quite easy tho not as simple as Untap.in. Hope I see you on cockatrice.

I've used Trice before. I'm waiting for my Mac to spontaneously combust so I can get a PC and play MTGO.

@buildingadeck: to me, it seems that Drowned Catacomb may be better then the tango?

October 26, 2015 10:43 p.m.

buildingadeck says... #22

I thought about it and for some reason wrote it off. It seems better because it's easier to activate and doesn't die to Sundering Titan. I would agree that it is better unless you decide to run fetches, a decision I would discourage.

Have you tried the black blue pain land? I usually play RUG tron, so I'm not sure how often you use the mana, but it may turn out to be a tad easier on the life total as it can provide colorless, however, if you find yourself using the land more than twice, I highly suggest Watery Grave. It enters untapped when you need it to, and doesn't cost life when you don't!

October 26, 2015 10:54 p.m.

IzzetFanatic says... #24

@buildingadeck: do you think that having these two dual color (UB) lands will change the deck a lot? I mean the chances of me hitting 1 and a dismember in game 2 or 3 are pretty low... and it could be bad to have the potential tap lands.

October 26, 2015 11:04 p.m.

Well, what decks do you side in dismember for?
