Though I haven't played Tron for the better part of a year, I would suggest Pithing Needle over Trickbind, because it synergises with Thirst, and is far better when staring down a Karn. Also, it is way better against Ezuri and his swarm, and is one of the best cards against Affinity. It also fights Twin very well. This is merely my experience. I also feel you would do very with Chalice of the Voids somewhere in your 15, due to strength against Affinity, Jund, Delve, Burn, Storm, Soul Sisters, 8-Rack

@buildingadeck: what is you oppinion on the SB. Specifically Trickbind vs. Squelch vs. Pithing Needle. Tell me what you think is the best and why?

@IzzetFanatic: You're really good at formatting, would you mind answering a question?

I'm trying to use card formatting to change the name of a card for flavor purposes. For example, I would like to display Blood Moon but change the words to "moon turned to blood" so that it fits into a short story I'm writing in the description of a deck. Do you know how to do that? Thanks so much for the help!

@5D_Phantom: I am quite flattered. lol. I actually am really bad at formatting. I have gotten all of the coding for this deck from other articles and my very basic HTML knowledge. If I were you I would post it on a Forum. Or look it up. It may take you a while to get a good sense of how to do it. This may get you started http://tappedout.net/mtg-forum/custom-cards/is-there-a-way-to-add-custom-cards-to-tappedouts-library/. If you have any other questions please ask ON MY PAGE. That way my deck comments are separate. Thanks.

This is a really cool deck. I like tron, but have never been able to play it myself. Have you thought about maybe running any of the new Eldrazi cards from BFZ? Many of them don't seem good enough, but there may be an exception.

IzzetFanatic says... #6

@Prima: I have. Right now it seems to me that none of them can thrive in the super aggro heavy meta right now. I will look at it again if the meta goes more midrange. Thank you for your upvote and comment.

What can I say :-)

Seems like you know what you are doing. If you would add some more artifacts like Sol Ring and perhaps the eldrazi in the future a Tolarian Academy might come in handy :-)

+1 from me

If those cards were legal modern would be a different format.

@PartyJ: thank you for your comment. Those cards are not legal in mdrn rn but if they become modern I will add them.

Due to the current meta, would you consider swapping your Spell Pierce out for Dispel? Instants are typically very relevant, and decks are starting to maindeck some number of Dispel.

Also another sideboard card that can be very useful is Surgical Extraction. It will help your games against the Abzan Company decks and Grishoalbrand, plus it could give you an edge in dealing with other Tron decks after hitting them with a Ghost Quarter or Tectonic Edge, or just hitting their Mindslaver

I like your inclusion of Spell Burst, I personally haven't seen any U Tron deck lists with it in it. How well do you like Platinum Angel main deck? It seems like it would often die to a lot of the format's removal, but does it stall long enough for you to lock down the game? For the short time I played tron, I had him in the SB, and just boarded him in against aggro decks like Zoo and Burn (but at the time America Control was a much bigger part of the meta).

Wow. Just wow. The only card I recomend is Reality Shift. It acts like cool removal as a 2-drop and comes only at the cost of your opponent manifesting one of his cards.

IzzetFanatic says... #13

@AidanOlson, flamy153: Spell Burst is incredible. It can counter early game or provide a softlock in the late game. As to Platinum Angel, she is good as a one of against aggro decks that don't have that much removal. I don't really like Reality Shift because it does not provide any card advantage opposed to cards like Repeal. I will consider it though. Thank you.

Has anyone considered Snapcaster Mage?

November 28, 2015 10:32 p.m.

IzzetFanatic says... #15

@WizdomCube: I have considered it but as of now I don't have anything I'd want to take out for it. The fact that you need double blue to make it effective is rough in a deck that's really colorless and splashing blue. Thank you for your suggestion though.

im currently testing a u tron list and im wondering if there is anything better than Thirst for Knowledge for extra draw

December 1, 2015 12:52 a.m.

IzzetFanatic says... #17

@nickembry: Thirst is an incredible card as it is. It is even better if you are running 4 Talisman of Dominances because you can just pitch them to the Thirst. Other options include Peer Through Depths but is not as good as Thirst. One other option is Telling Time, or Compulsive Research, which is similar to Thirst but is not as good imo. It does however get better if you run some number (2-4) of Crucible of Worlds.

Conclusion is that Thirst for Knowledge is already a really good card drawing spell and with all of your other cantrip spells like Remand and Repeal you should be fine.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

I love this deck. I used it for a template for a Tron deck of my own. What are your thoughts on Chalice of the Void in the side against burn and affinity? Also, if you don't mind me asking, why Oblivion Stone over Perilous Vault?

December 6, 2015 12:19 a.m.

IzzetFanatic says... #19

@gogogonzo: Thank you for your compliment. Chalice of the Void is a very good card. It is good against a lot of aggro decks. I personally like my other options against those aggro decks more. There is, however, another version of Mono U Tron that is called either Chalice Tron or Void Tron. This version runs Chalices over your Talismans. It is also very competitive but I personally think it's not as consistent.

As to O-Stone vs. Perilous Vault: O-Stone is essentially the same thing except you can protect your mana rocks like your Talismans. And it is more efficient. You can cast it and activate it a turn earlier then you could with The Vault. This makes it a lot better. If this hasn't convinced you, what does The Vault have that O-Stone doesn't. Then ask what does O-Stone have that Perilous Vault doesn't.

Hey, I know you play U-Tron but I built my first G/R Tron that i'd like to make competitive so I can bring it to tournaments and I was wondering if you'd be willing to take a look at it and see if you could give me some pointers and suggestions (I've worked on it a bit and there is a long description/primer since I don't know how to put it in a tab like you did). Karn, the Spirit Dragon

Off of that note, this deck does look amazing. I was wondering if you'd thought of and tried Conduit of Ruin and what you thought of it? It's a little less useful in this deck than G/R Tron, but it will still pull your Sundering Titan and Platinum Angel out and will cut down the costs of your cards (the first one at least).

Love how you changed the background art on your deck. And that you managed to piece your deck info into different menus. Clearly you have some programming experience. Wouldn't mind getting some help with that to spice up my decklists. Mono-U Tron gets a +1 from me. I love tempo decks!

Jack-Frost says... #22

By the way, would you be willing to share the code for changing the background of the deck with me? I have one for changing my user page, but i'm not sure how to bring it over to my deck.

December 16, 2015 10:42 p.m.

Is Platinum Emperion viable? I know that platinum angel serves a similar purpose for 1 less mana, but the 8/8 body is significantly sturdier than the 4/4. it seems like it serves the purpose of win condition better.

AidanOlson says... #24

Yes, but it sucks against infect, which is a big thing in Modern.

December 28, 2015 11:48 p.m.

IzzetFanatic says... #25

@grasshopper021: I thank you for your suggestion however as AidanOlsonsaid, the Emperion does not protect against ways of dying other then loss of life. The Angel also does cost less which would seem like a matter of little consequence however often times I am casting cards like Wurmcoil and The Angel without Tron. So being able to cast it a turn earlier makes it more valuable in this kind of deck. The role of The Angel in this deck is almost never a wincon but rather a reactive piece of protection against decks that are about to win and I don't have a way to prevent that. So the fact that the Empirion is a better WinCon is of little consequence to me. Emperion DOES have a better p/t which makes it harder to kill with things like bolts. However I have plenty of counter spells and if they are going to double Bolt my Angel I'm fine with that most of the time because they are two for oneing my creature and that is 6 dmg that I have prevented to me.

Thank you for your suggestion tho.
